Halo Infinite has the best sci-fi cosmetics of these three games if you want to build a distinctive armored character from individual parts, colors, and effects. Destiny 2 is the stronger fashion sandbox for turning collected armor into a consistent look, while Battlefield 6 suits players who prefer believable near-future military gear over space-fantasy spectacle. That verdict is an editorial judgment based on customization depth, cosmetic range, access, and visual identity—not an objective ranking measured by a neutral industry standard.
At a glance
| Name | Best for | Key cosmetic strength | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|
| Halo Infinite | Building a custom sci-fi character | Modular armor, weapons, vehicles, AI, and Spartan ID | Oct 2026 |
| Destiny 2 | Transmog and fashion flexibility | Turn collected armor into class-specific Universal Ornaments | Oct 2026 |
| Battlefield 6 | Grounded tactical military styling | Soldier, weapon, vehicle, and profile cosmetics | Oct 2026 |
Which game has the best sci-fi cosmetics overall?
Halo Infinite is the best pick for pure sci-fi armor customization. Its Armor Hall exposes the most detailed character-building system of the three: you can assemble a Spartan from distinct armor pieces, then coordinate that look with weapons, vehicles, a personal AI, and profile presentation. Destiny 2 has a better-defined transmog loop, and Battlefield 6 has broad cosmetic coverage, but neither offers the same documented combination of granular armor-part editing and sci-fi character identity.

“Best” depends on what you want the cosmetics to do. A player who wants to turn collected gear into a stable wardrobe may prefer Destiny 2. Someone who wants a believable future soldier, with matching kit and battlefield equipment, may prefer Battlefield 6. The comparison below separates those different strengths rather than treating the games as if they had the same art direction or cosmetic system.
How do the games compare on sci-fi identity, customization, and access?
The useful distinction is not simply how many items each game has. It is how much control you have over the final look, what kinds of items you can customize, and how you obtain or retain access to cosmetics.

| Comparison axis | Halo Infinite | Destiny 2 | Battlefield 6 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sci-fi identity | Strongest fit for assembling a personalized armored sci-fi character | Space-fantasy wardrobe built around collected armor and ornaments | Near-future military style; the least overtly space-fantasy-oriented of the three |
| Mix-and-match depth | Individual armor components can be selected, with some core restrictions | Collected armor can become class-specific Universal Ornaments for eligible Legendary armor | Cosmetic categories include soldier skins and equipment finishes; the documented system centers on packages and skins rather than individually assembling a soldier from parts |
| Catalog breadth | Armor, weapons, vehicles, personal AI, and Spartan ID | Armor ornaments and accessories, with additional rewards in Monument of Triumph | Soldiers, weapons, vehicles, melee weapons, charms, stickers, dog tags, and player-card items |
| Access and permanence | Gameplay, challenges, events, purchases, non-expiring Operation Passes, and Exchange offerings | Armor Synthesis uses collected armor; Monument of Triumph remains available indefinitely | Career and hardware progression, seasonal Battle Pass progression, and some edition or promotional bundles |
| Visual coherence | Part-by-part choices support a personal look, within core limits | Transmog helps maintain a consistent character appearance as gear changes | Best suited to a military-oriented look; individual cosmetics span soldiers, weapons, vehicles, and profile items |
The comparison is based on official descriptions of each game’s systems. It does not establish a complete live inventory for any in-game shop or prove that one game has more total cosmetics than another.
Why does Halo Infinite win for sci-fi armor customization?
Halo Infinite wins because its system gives you more ways to shape the finished Spartan than simply choosing a complete skin. Halo Support describes an Armor Hall with armor kits, coatings, helmets, visors, chest pieces, shoulder pads, gloves, wrists, utilities, knee pads, emblems, emblem palettes, and armor effects. That range makes the core decision about the character’s silhouette and details, not only which outfit to equip.

What can you customize in Halo Infinite?
Customization extends beyond the Spartan’s armor. The documented system includes weapon and vehicle cores, models, coatings, charms, emblems, and effects. Body & AI settings include body type, prosthetic options, personal AI model, and AI color. Spartan ID covers service tag, voice, nameplate, backdrop, and stance.
Together, these categories let you coordinate several parts of a player identity: the armor itself, its color and visual effects, your equipment, and the way your Spartan appears in profile. Halo Support states that “All customizations in Halo Infinite are cosmetic and do not provide in-game advantages.”
Are Halo armor parts fully interchangeable?
No. Halo Support says some items are limited to particular Armor Cores or Weapon Cores. The system is modular, but that does not mean every cosmetic can be combined with every core. If you have a specific combination in mind, check its compatibility in the relevant customization menu before planning a complete look around it.

How do you get Halo Infinite cosmetics?
Halo cosmetics can come from gameplay, challenges, events, or purchases. Halo’s 2026 documentation says Operation Passes have 100 tiers and do not expire, so players can work through them at their own pace rather than losing access merely because a seasonal window ended.
The Exchange is another part of the catalog. Halo’s 2026 update added over 200 accessories, coatings, charms, visors, and other customization items. Earnable Whisper, Lancer, and Dirgesinger armor sets appear there, while past premium bundles return through a monthly 2026 rotation. Those details describe the documented offerings and rotation model; they do not mean every item is available at the same time.
Is Destiny 2 better than Halo Infinite for cosmetics?
Destiny 2 is better if your priority is transmog and a flexible wardrobe; Halo Infinite is better if you want to customize the armor itself piece by piece. Destiny 2’s Armor Synthesis lets you turn collected armor into Universal Ornaments for a particular character class, then use those ornaments to change the look of eligible Legendary armor.
How does Destiny 2 transmog work?
Bungie describes the system as “Armor Synthesis is Destiny 2’s version of ‘transmog’”. The idea is to separate a piece of collected armor’s appearance from its role as gear: you collect armor, unlock its look in Collections, and make it a Universal Ornament for the relevant class. This wardrobe approach is appealing if you want to keep a chosen visual style while changing the underlying armor you wear.
That is a different kind of control from Halo’s. Destiny 2’s documented advantage is the ability to apply collected armor appearances as ornaments. The available information does not establish the same individual-part editing system that Halo documents for helmets, shoulders, chest pieces, and other armor components.

What does Monument of Triumph add?
Bungie’s 2026 Monument of Triumph update makes a broad legacy offering available indefinitely. It lets players earn Legendary Marks for a selection of free armor ornaments, accessories, weapon engrams, and more. Bungie says the content available from June 9, 2026 includes everything present through Update 9.5.6.3 and the 9.7.0 additions.
Bungie also says no further updates are planned beyond possible stability hotfixes. That makes the indefinitely available Monument a notable route to legacy rewards, but it should not be read as a promise that every Destiny 2 ornament is obtainable there or that the entire cosmetic catalog will keep receiving new content.
Does Battlefield 6 have good skins?
Yes, if you want a broad selection of near-future military cosmetics. Battlefield 6 covers soldiers, weapons, vehicles, melee weapons, and player-profile items. Its strongest distinction is the tactical presentation: the official setting and documented cosmetic categories point toward military equipment and battlefield identities, not the maximal space-fantasy look associated with the other two games.
What cosmetic categories are in Battlefield 6?
EA documents soldier skins for the NATO and Pax Armata factions; weapon packages and camouflages; vehicle skins and decals; and melee-weapon skins. Other available categories include charms, stickers, dog tags, player-card backgrounds, icons, titles, and patches. Edition-specific bundles can combine soldier, weapon, vehicle, and profile cosmetics.
That is broad equipment coverage, but the categories are not evidence of a modular armor builder on Halo’s scale. Battlefield 6 is the better fit when you want to choose a soldier look and coordinate weapons, vehicles, and profile elements around a grounded military style. Calling it the least overtly sci-fi of the three is a comparison based on its documented near-future military setting, not an official publisher rating.

How does Battlefield 6 progression unlock cosmetics?
EA describes three progression tracks. Career XP advances Career Rank; hardware XP covers weapons and vehicles; Battle Pass XP advances the seasonal pass and can also be earned through challenges.
- Career progression: EA says, “Functional unlocks end at Career Rank 50.” Career Ranks 51–100 unlock additional customization items, according to EA’s 2026 documentation.
- Hardware progression: Weapon and vehicle XP unlocks functional equipment as well as cosmetic camouflages and weapon packages.
- Battle Pass progression: Battle Pass XP advances the seasonal pass, with challenges also providing a way to earn it.
The distinction between functional equipment and cosmetics matters if you are deciding whether progression is only about appearance. EA’s description makes clear that hardware XP can unlock both, while Career Rank rewards after Rank 50 are customization items.
What Battlefield 6 bundles and promotions should you know about?
EA says the Battlefield 6 Game of the Year edition is available from October 13, 2026, and is digital-only. The edition includes the Phantom Pack, four Phantom Squad soldier skins, the Glimmer melee-knife skin, Shrouded and Drop Shadow weapon packages, the Chimera vehicle skin, a Death’s Head sticker, a Cryptic charm, an Operative dog tag, a Trusted Reserve soldier skin, and XP boosts. EA confirms a PS5 release and Standard Edition, but the Game of the Year edition should not be mistaken for a physical edition.

Choose Halo Infinite if you want to build a Spartan from parts
- You want to adjust armor components such as helmets, chest pieces, shoulders, gloves, and knee pads.
- You care about coordinating armor with weapons, vehicles, AI, and Spartan ID.
- You want a pass model that Halo documents as non-expiring, alongside gameplay, event, challenge, and purchase routes.
- You are comfortable checking core compatibility because some pieces are restricted to particular Armor Cores or Weapon Cores.
Choose Destiny 2 if you want a transmog wardrobe
- You like collecting armor appearances and applying them as Universal Ornaments for a character class.
- You want to preserve a chosen look while changing eligible Legendary armor.
- You value access to legacy ornaments and accessories through Monument of Triumph, which Bungie says remains available indefinitely.
Choose Battlefield 6 if you want tactical realism
- You prefer soldier skins, weapon packages, camouflage, and vehicle cosmetics with a military-oriented presentation.
- You want profile items such as dog tags, patches, titles, and player-card backgrounds alongside equipment cosmetics.
- You would rather avoid overt space-fantasy or novelty styling, while recognizing that this preference is an interpretation of Battlefield 6’s documented setting and categories.
How was the winner determined?
The verdict uses five practical comparison criteria: how strongly the cosmetics communicate a sci-fi identity; whether you can mix individual parts or mainly equip a complete look; how many cosmetic surfaces are covered; how players earn and retain access to items; and how consistently the visual style fits each game.
Halo Infinite comes first for pure sci-fi customization because its official Armor Hall description provides the clearest evidence of granular character construction and customization across armor, equipment, AI, and identity. Destiny 2 ranks first for transmog because Armor Synthesis is explicitly designed to turn collected armor into class-specific ornaments, with Monument of Triumph adding an indefinite legacy offering. Battlefield 6 is the strongest choice for tactical military style, but its strengths are different from maximal sci-fi spectacle. No neutral statistic establishes an objective cosmetics winner across the three games.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use Halo Infinite cosmetics across every armor core?
No. Some items are restricted to specific Armor Cores or Weapon Cores. Check the item’s compatibility in the relevant customization menu before expecting it to work with a particular core.
Does Destiny 2 transmog change armor stats?
Armor Synthesis is described as a cosmetic system: it creates Universal Ornaments from collected armor for a character class. The description separates an armor piece’s appearance from the eligible Legendary armor to which the ornament is applied.
Is the Battlefield 6 Game of the Year edition available on disc?
No. EA describes that edition as digital-only. EA separately confirms a PS5 release and Standard Edition, so do not assume a physical Game of the Year package exists.
Are Halo Infinite Operation Passes time-limited?
Halo’s 2026 documentation says its 100-tier Operation Passes do not expire. That means you can progress through them at your own pace, though it does not establish that every cosmetic is available in every shop or rotation at all times.
