Not confirmed yet. Bandai Namco announced Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 3 (GBO3) on October 28, 2026, but the checked announcement does not say whether the game will be free-to-play, paid, or sold in editions. It also does not describe tokens, mobile suits, cosmetics, battle passes, or any other GBO3 purchase. The “Free to play” label currently visible on the official site applies to GBO2, not automatically to its successor. The 30-token celebration offers now appearing after the announcement are GBO2 events, and no specific GBO3 release date has been set in the cited update.
Is GBO3 free-to-play?
As of October 30, 2026, GBO3’s business model is unconfirmed. Bandai Namco’s October 28 announcement identifies GBO3 as the latest entry in the Battle Operation series, but it does not state that the game is free-to-play, require an upfront purchase, or list a paid edition. The safest answer is therefore “unknown,” not “yes” or “no.”

The official Battle Operation website does display a prominent “Free to play” description, but that wording is attached to Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is not a GBO3 product page or a promise that the new game will use the same model. You can see the current site here: official Battle Operation website.
This distinction matters because a predecessor’s pricing does not establish a sequel’s launch policy. GBO3 could eventually use a similar structure, a paid release, regional variations, or a model that has not been announced. None of those possibilities is confirmed by the material currently published by the developer.

What did Bandai Namco announce on October 28, 2026?
The publisher’s update confirms that GBO3 is real and in development as the next Battle Operation series entry. It does not provide a platform list, a retail or digital price, a release window, or a catalog of optional purchases. The announcement is available in the publisher’s official schedule notice.
| Point | What is confirmed | What is not confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| Project | GBO3 is the latest Battle Operation entry announced by Bandai Namco. | Its final name, editions, or launch configuration beyond the announcement. |
| Announcement date | October 28, 2026. | A release date or launch window. |
| Pricing | No GBO3 price is stated. | Free-to-play status, an upfront purchase, subscriptions, or regional pricing. |
| Purchases | No GBO3 purchase catalog is described. | Tokens, mobile suits, cosmetics, battle passes, bundles, or paid expansions. |
| Relationship with GBO2 | Bandai Namco says it does not plan to operate both games in parallel. | A shutdown date, account migration, currency conversion, or item transfer policy. |
The line about operating both games is a plan, not a timetable. Bandai Namco writes: “Additionally, we do not plan to operate “GBO2” and “GBO3” in parallel.” That statement does not say when GBO2 will end, whether there will be an overlap for testing or transition, or what happens to existing paid or earned content.
It also does not establish that GBO3 will replace GBO2 on the same day worldwide. There is no announced launch window, regional schedule, platform information, or shutdown notice in the cited update. Until those details appear, readers should treat the project announcement and the service-transition plan as separate pieces of information.
Are the 30-token announcement celebration drops in GBO3?
No. The visible celebration notices describe events held in GBO2. They do not reveal GBO3’s economy or imply that GBO3 will use tokens.
The Guaranteed MS Boosted Supply Drop notice lists four steps, with STEP1 through STEP4 priced at 30 tokens each. Each step has its own guaranteed mobile-suit reward category. If a GBO2 player takes all four steps, the listed step prices add up to 120 tokens, but that arithmetic remains entirely within the GBO2 campaign. The terms are not a GBO3 price, a GBO3 starter package, or a forecast of what the sequel will sell. The event details are in the publisher’s GBO2 Supply Drop notice.

A separate “GBO3 Announcement Celebration” notice also lists login rewards and Supply Drops for players in GBO2. The campaign title references the announcement, but the game receiving the rewards is GBO2. Logging in for those rewards does not grant a GBO3 entitlement, preorder, token balance, or early access. Its notice is published at the official celebration page.

| Notice or label | Game named in the official material | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| “Free to play” website label | GBO2 | Describes the existing game; it does not confirm GBO3’s model. |
| GBO3 Announcement Celebration | GBO2 | A campaign in the existing game connected to the announcement. |
| Guaranteed MS Boosted Supply Drop | GBO2 | Four 30-token steps with specified guaranteed mobile-suit categories. |
| GBO3 announcement | GBO3 | Confirms the new entry, but gives no purchase catalog or price. |
The wording creates an easy shopping mistake: a headline mentioning GBO3 can sit above an offer whose eligible game is GBO2. Before spending, read the event’s game name, eligibility rules, dates and reward table. A campaign reference is not the same thing as a product listing for the newly announced title.
What could GBO3 purchases include?
Nothing specific is confirmed. The checked publisher announcement does not identify any item that players will be able to buy in GBO3. In particular, there is no sourced basis to promise any of the following:
- Paid tokens or another premium currency.
- Individual mobile suits or guaranteed mobile-suit draws.
- Cosmetic items, pilots, emblems, or customization packs.
- Battle passes, season passes, subscriptions, or time-limited bundles.
- A paid standard edition, deluxe edition, collector’s edition, or preorder bonus.
- A purchase-to-play requirement, early-access tier, or premium account.
These are categories a future store page might explain, but listing them now as GBO3 features would turn possibilities into facts. Even the 30-token figure cannot be carried over: it is a GBO2 event term published for a specific campaign, not a GBO3 statistic. Nothing currently says that GBO3 will have tokens at all, much less that one token will have the same value.
When Bandai Namco publishes a GBO3 storefront or product page, the useful questions will be concrete: Is the base game free in your region? Which platforms are supported? Are paid items optional or do they affect gameplay? Are purchases random, direct, or both? Do they expire? Are they tied to an account or a platform? The current announcement answers none of these.

What does the no-parallel-operation plan mean for GBO2 players?
It signals that Bandai Namco does not intend to run GBO2 and GBO3 as permanently concurrent live services, but it does not establish how the transition will work. No date is given for a GBO2 shutdown, and the update does not explain whether currencies, mobile suits, cosmetics, progression, subscriptions, or other entitlements will move to GBO3.
Players should therefore avoid treating current GBO2 spending as an investment in GBO3. A GBO2 token purchase grants whatever the GBO2 event rules specify; the announcement provides no promise that those tokens, items, or account benefits will be usable in the sequel. Until a transfer policy is published, assume that GBO2 and GBO3 entitlements are separate rather than interchangeable.
The same caution applies to time-limited GBO2 rewards. A login bonus can be useful for continuing GBO2, but it is not evidence of a GBO3 reservation or a credit toward a future edition. Save receipts and check account, platform and region details only if Bandai Namco later publishes an explicit migration process.
How can you verify GBO3’s price and purchase terms when they appear?
Use an official GBO3 product listing or platform store page, and check the region and platform before paying. A reliable listing should identify the base game, the edition or add-on being sold, the included content, and any restrictions.

Make sure the page says GBO3, not GBO2 or an announcement campaign running inside GBO2.
- Check the publisher and date. Prefer a Bandai Namco announcement or an official console or PC storefront listing that can be tied to the publisher’s announcement.
- Identify the base-game model. Look for explicit wording such as free-to-play, free trial, paid download, or a required purchase. Do not infer the model from a banner, trailer, or predecessor.
- Read the purchase contents. Record exactly what an edition, bundle, currency pack, or pass grants, including quantities, expiration dates, and whether rewards are random.
- Check platform and region. Prices, taxes, currencies, age ratings, availability, and included bonuses can differ by storefront and country.
- Review transfer and refund terms. Look for account linking, cross-progression, entitlement transfer, and refund rules before purchasing GBO2 items in anticipation of GBO3.
Also compare the total cost rather than only the headline price. A listing should make clear whether a pass or bundle requires the base game, whether a currency pack is optional, and whether advertised bonuses are permanent or expire with an event. If the page does not identify the eligible title, platform, region or contents, it is not enough to establish what a GBO3 purchase includes.

This process will prevent the current campaign notices from being mistaken for a GBO3 shop. Until an official listing supplies those details, there is no defensible GBO3 price or purchase inventory to report.

Can I buy GBO3 tokens today?
No GBO3 token pack or GBO3 storefront has been identified in the cited official material. If a token offer appears under the current celebration notices, verify that it is labeled for GBO2 before treating it as a purchase for the new game.
Does GBO2’s “Free to play” label apply to GBO3?
No automatic connection has been announced. The label is attached to the existing GBO2 website, while GBO3’s announcement is silent about its business model.

Could GBO3 launch as a paid game even though GBO2 is free-to-play?
It could, because the announcement does not constrain the sequel’s pricing model. Only a GBO3 product page or publisher statement can establish whether an upfront purchase is required.
Will my GBO2 mobile suits and currency carry over to GBO3?
No transfer arrangement has been announced. Bandai Namco’s no-parallel-operation statement does not define account migration, so wait for explicit entitlement rules rather than assuming a carryover.
Is the four-step, 30-token offer a GBO3 preorder?
No. The four 30-token steps are listed in a GBO2 Guaranteed MS Boosted Supply Drop notice. The campaign does not establish a GBO3 preorder, price or token system.
Has Bandai Namco announced a GBO3 release date or platforms?
The October 28, 2026 update gives no specific release date, release window or platform list. Those details remain open until a later official announcement.
Should I spend money in GBO2 because GBO3 is coming?
Only if you want the GBO2 content under its current event rules. No statement promises that GBO2 tokens, mobile suits, cosmetics or other paid entitlements will transfer to GBO3.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: GBO3 is announced, but its free-to-play status, price, platforms, release date and purchase contents are still unknown. The official “Free to play” label and every currently cited 30-token celebration offer belong to GBO2. Wait for a GBO3-specific product or storefront listing before assuming what the game costs or buying anything for the sequel.
