Is Graveyard Keeper 2 multiplayer or co-op?

The mod author says the co-op session uses a separate save with a coop_... name and that the host’s original save is backed up. Treat that as the author’s description of the mod, not a guarantee that every setup or save is risk-free. Back up important saves before experimenting, use the author’s current installation directions, and make sure both players meet the mod’s stated Windows x64 and matching-version requirements. Mod behavior can change with updates, so check its current page before installing or loading a save.
That distinction matters if you are choosing the game specifically to play a full campaign with a friend. Officially, there is no second-player slot; the mod’s described shared backpack and basic crafting do not remove its synchronization limits. Its page is the place to verify its latest requirements and instructions, but it remains a community project rather than a developer-supported feature. Do not assume a future official co-op mode based on the mod’s existence.

Does the demo save carry over to the full game?
For the Steam demo and full Steam version on Windows, yes: the official launch announcement says the demo save carries over, and tinyBuild says the transfer should normally happen automatically. If the save is missing, the support instructions document a manual Windows recovery route. This does not establish that a save from the original Graveyard Keeper transfers to the sequel, or that saves move between PC and consoles.
Check for an automatic transfer first
Launch the full game through Steam and check whether the demo progress appears. The developer’s September 22, 2026 launch announcement explicitly promised demo-to-full-game carryover. A September 25 changelog also says that demo-save milestones unlock Steam achievements retroactively in the full game. These statements concern the sequel’s demo save; they do not describe importing a save from the first game. The launch announcement put it plainly: “For those of you who played the demo, your save file will carry over into the full game.”
Manually recover a missing Windows demo save
If the automatic transfer did not work, tinyBuild’s documented Windows fallback is to copy the demo’s .info and .dat files into the full game’s save folder. Preserve existing saves before making changes. The support discussion is available through the official Graveyard Keeper 2 Steam discussions.
- Close the game. Before changing files, copy the existing save folders somewhere safe so you can restore them if needed.

What about a Graveyard Keeper 1 save or a different platform?
No official import procedure from the original Graveyard Keeper into the sequel is established in the official information. Likewise, no verified save-transfer route is documented between PC and console versions or between console families. That is not proof that transfer is technically impossible; it means players should not plan on a transfer unless the relevant platform or developer documentation confirms one. Steam Cloud on the PC listing is not evidence of cross-platform save support.
These are separate questions: the confirmed carryover is from the Graveyard Keeper 2 demo into the sequel’s full Steam game. These are Steam’s listed Windows specifications. Compare your PC’s CPU, installed memory, graphics hardware, Windows edition, and available storage against the tier you want to meet before considering an upgrade. A graphics-card model by itself does not establish that a specific laptop or desktop is compatible: the rest of the system and its physical and power constraints matter. The gap between the two tiers is specific: the recommended listing moves from a 13th-generation Core i3-class CPU to a 13th-generation Core i5-class CPU, from 6 GB to 8 GB RAM, and from GTX 1650-class to RTX 3060-class graphics. The stated Windows, DirectX 12, and 4 GB storage requirements do not change. Meeting the minimum is not the same as meeting the recommended tier, and neither listing predicts a particular frame rate.
Check the complete system rather than comparing a single GPU name. Steam’s “or similar” wording does not certify every laptop implementation or every desktop build; compatibility depends on the rest of the machine too. The listed graphics cards are reference points in the requirements, not mandatory purchases. If your computer already meets your needs, the published table alone is not a reason to replace hardware.
Is Graveyard Keeper 2 Steam Deck Verified?
The official FAQ says the game is Steam Deck Verified. When did Graveyard Keeper 2 launch, and how many copies has it sold?
Graveyard Keeper 2 launched on September 22, 2026. On September 24, Lazy Bear Games and tinyBuild announced that the sequel had sold more than 400,000 copies across available platforms. That is a dated, publisher-reported figure, not a current sales total. It is distinct from tinyBuild’s April 9, 2026 statement that the original Graveyard Keeper had sold more than four million units; that earlier figure belongs to the first game, not the sequel.
The official launch announcement also confirms demo-save carryover, while subsequent announcements include PC update 1.010 dated October 13, 2026. A dated update should not be treated as proof that it remains the latest version; check the game’s official Steam announcements for current patch notes and save-related fixes. The October 13 announcements included PC save-loading and progression fixes, so players troubleshooting an older installation should check later patch notes as well as the support thread.
