Google Clock for Android is rolling out in version 7.13 through the Play Store, which means the update may land at slightly different times depending on your device, region, and Google account.
If you want the update as soon as possible, your fastest path is still the Play Store—but there are a few checks you should run first so you’re not chasing a missing update that’s actually already installed.

What the Google Clock 7.13 rollout actually means
A Play Store rollout is typically staged. That means version 7.13 can appear for some users first, then gradually for the rest. Even if the release is ready, Google may intentionally delay delivery to reduce server load and catch issues early.

Before you update: prerequisites and what to check
Before you tap update, confirm a few things so you don’t get stuck on a preventable error.
Check your Android version and device support
Open the Google Clock listing in Play Store and look at the Android version requirements. If your phone is below the minimum, the update won’t be offered.
Make sure Play Store is allowed to download updates
Updates can be blocked by network settings, battery restrictions, or Play Store preferences.

- Open the app page.
- If an update is available, you’ll see an Update button. Tap it.
- Wait for the download to finish, then tap Open if prompted.

If you do not see 7.13: rollout timing and alternative ways to install
Not seeing Google Clock 7.13 yet usually comes down to staged rollout. A little patience can be the right fix—but you still have options to confirm what’s happening.
1) Confirm your current installed version
On the Play Store app listing, look for the version shown under the app name (or in App info). If you already have 7.13, the rollout delay won’t apply—you’re already current.
2) Force refresh the Play Store catalog
Sometimes the store listing won’t refresh immediately.
- Open Play Store → tap your profile icon → Manage apps & device → Updates available.
- Pull down to refresh the list.
- Make sure you have working network access and that you’re not in a restricted data mode.
3) Clear Play Store cache (safe first step)
This doesn’t delete your account—just stored app data.

5) Avoid sideloading unless you trust the source
If you’re offered an APK from an untrusted website, you risk tampered installs. For this app, the safer choice is always Play Store distribution.
If you’re in an environment where Play Store isn’t reliable, your best option is still to wait or use an official distribution channel rather than random APK sites.

Common problems and troubleshooting
Rollouts usually go smoothly, but here are the issues people most often hit and what to try.
Problem: No Update button appears
- Check your installed version first—7.13 may already be installed.
- Confirm you’re not restricted to Wi‑Fi only updates if you’re on cellular.
- Clear Play Store cache (steps above) and refresh the updates list.
- Try again later; staged rollouts are normal.
Problem: Update fails to download
- Restart the phone and retry on a stable Wi‑Fi connection.
- Free up storage space—many Play Store downloads need several hundred MB of free space to unzip and install.
- Go to Play Store settings and disable any strict data saver or “Only over Wi‑Fi” if you need mobile temporarily.
Problem: Update installs, but version didn’t change
- Verify version in Android App info, not just the listing.
- Confirm you updated the correct account on multi-user devices or work profiles.
- If you’re in a managed device profile, the admin may control update availability.
Problem: Crash or timer/alarm behavior is off after update
- Force stop the app: Settings → Apps → Google Clock → Force stop.
- Clear app cache (not data) and reopen the app.
- Reboot your phone, then test one alarm in the next few minutes.
- If it persists, report the bug through the app listing and avoid repeated installs from unofficial sources.
Security, privacy, and permissions to review
Clock apps typically need minimal permissions, but it’s smart to review what Google Clock requests—especially after any major update.
- Open Settings → Apps → Google Clock → Permissions.
- Check what’s enabled for Calendar (if you use time-related features that integrate with events), Notifications, and anything else shown.
- If you don’t use a feature (like calendar integration), you can often deny that permission without breaking core clock functionality.
Always keep the app installed through Play Store for verified signatures and safer updates.

FAQ
Is Google Clock 7.13 required for alarm reliability?
No. Alarms should work without you updating immediately, but staying current reduces the risk of app bugs and improves compatibility with Android changes.
Why can’t I update even though my phone supports Google Clock?
Most cases come down to staged rollout, storage/network constraints, or managed device restrictions (work/school profiles). Check your current version first, then review Play Store update availability.
Can I install Google Clock 7.13 without the Play Store?
You can, but it’s not recommended unless you’re using a trusted, official source. Play Store installs are signed and typically safer.
How long does it take for staged updates to show up?
There’s no single timeline. Some users see the update within days; others may wait longer. If you’re eligible, checking periodically is usually the best move.
Bottom Line
Google Clock 7.13 arriving via the Play Store is a standard staged release, not a special manual requirement. Update through Play Store when the button appears, and verify the version using Android App info.
If 7.13 doesn’t show up, confirm you’re not already on it, refresh Play Store cache, and allow a bit of rollout time—those steps solve most “missing update” cases.
