PCMag’s testing makes the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 5080 Infinity 16G the fastest RTX 5080 it has measured, but only by a single-digit margin over Nvidia’s Founders Edition. Its factory overclock, low power draw and unusually cool operation are attractive; the $1,899 list price is not. That is nearly twice the original $999 RTX 5080 MSRP, so this is a premium version of the same GPU rather than a new performance tier.

The rest of this Weekender covers 11 other reviews, including a 1080p/1440p RTX 5060 Ti, Zen 4-versus-Zen 5 gaming results, a 30-month OLED durability update, a value-focused 34-inch QD-OLED monitor, and practical choices for cooling, cases, motherboards, power supplies and peripherals.

Is the Gigabyte Aorus RTX 5080 Infinity really the fastest RTX 5080?

According to PCMag’s roundup, yes—but only within the narrow group of RTX 5080 cards it tested. The Aorus RTX 5080 Infinity 16G uses a factory overclock on the same GB203 GPU as other RTX 5080 models, so its lead over the Founders Edition is measured in single digits rather than a dramatic tier jump.

That distinction matters. A factory overclock can move frame rates a little, but it cannot turn an RTX 5080 into an RTX 5090. The card’s stronger case is the combination of that small lead, lower measured power use and exceptionally cool operation.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Question What the review establishes What it does not establish
Is it the fastest? PCMag recorded the best result among the RTX 5080 cards in its test set. It is not proven to be fastest in every game, workload or review lab.
How large is the lead? Single-digit performance advantage over the Founders Edition. A double-digit or generational performance jump.
What else stands out? Lower power draw and very cool operating temperatures in the cited testing. Universal results across different cases, ambient temperatures or firmware.
What does it cost? $1,899 list price in the roundup. A guaranteed street price or stock level in every region.

Is $1,899 reasonable for this card?

The price is the central objection. The roundup contrasts $1,899 with the original RTX 5080 MSRP of $999. That is an $900 premium, or almost twice the launch MSRP, for a small factory-overclock advantage and improved board-level behavior. Buyers who already own an RTX 5080 should not upgrade for speed alone. A new high-end build can justify it only when cool acoustics, the specific card design and immediate availability matter more than performance per dollar.

Who should consider the Aorus Infinity?

  • Enthusiasts who want the fastest result in PCMag’s RTX 5080 test group and accept a substantial premium.
  • Small-form-factor or heat-constrained builders who value the reported cool operation, provided the card physically fits.
  • Owners replacing an older GPU who need RTX 5080-class features now and cannot find a cheaper model.

For most buyers, a normally priced RTX 5080—or a faster GPU class when the budget allows—offers a clearer value proposition. The “fastest RTX 5080” label should be read as a test result, not as a new product category.

What should you check before installing an RTX 5080 Infinity?

Confirm the card’s physical dimensions, power connector clearance and power-supply capacity against the exact model listing. The cited review gives performance, power and thermal conclusions but does not establish universal case compatibility or a single required PSU wattage.

  1. Measure the case’s GPU length, height and slot thickness, including front radiators, drive cages and side-panel clearance.
  2. Check that the power supply has the appropriate modern GPU connector or a manufacturer-approved adapter with no sharp bend at the plug.
  3. Leave room for unobstructed intake airflow; the card’s cool test result assumes a functioning case airflow path.
  4. Update the motherboard firmware and graphics driver before comparing performance with older reviews.
  5. Use a frame-time overlay rather than average FPS alone if you are deciding whether a single-digit lead is worth paying for.

Is the ASUS T1 RTX 5060 Ti 8GB a good 1080p or 1440p card?

TweakTown positions the ASUS T1 GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB OC Edition as a strong choice for 1080p and 1440p competitive gaming, especially when DLSS 4.5 is available. Its limitation is the 8GB framebuffer: demanding ray-traced and path-traced games have less headroom than the card’s rasterized competitive results suggest.

Where does the 8GB model fit?

Workload Expectation from the review Planning note
1080p esports Strong fit for high-refresh competitive play. Prioritize the CPU, monitor refresh rate and latency settings once FPS is high.
1440p competitive games Capable, particularly with DLSS 4.5 support. Check each game’s upscaling and frame-generation behavior.
Heavy ray tracing 8GB can restrict settings and texture headroom. Expect to lower ray-tracing quality or use upscaling.
Path tracing Not the card’s comfortable use case at maximum settings. Verify per-game VRAM use before buying for a specific title.

The practical choice is between the monitor you own and the games you actually play. If your library is dominated by competitive titles, the 8GB card’s value is easier to defend. If you want to enable path tracing and keep high-resolution textures for several years, the framebuffer becomes the deciding constraint rather than the core GPU speed.

Does Zen 5 make a Ryzen 7 gaming upgrade worthwhile over Zen 4?

The FPS Review’s September 2026 retest found the gaming gap between Ryzen 7 7700, Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 7 9700X still close to the launch-era relationship. The lab used an RTX 5090 at 1080p across 12 games after platform-software updates; both generations improved in similar fashion.

What the retest means for existing owners

  • A non-X3D Zen 4 owner should not expect a compelling gaming upgrade simply by moving to a same-class non-X3D Zen 5 chip.
  • Platform updates benefited both generations, so newer software did not erase the original performance relationship.
  • The RTX 5090 and 1080p test setup intentionally reduces GPU bottlenecks; results at higher resolutions can show a smaller CPU difference.
Processor Test context Buying interpretation
Ryzen 7 7700 Zen 4, tested with September 2026 platform software. Still a viable gaming baseline when priced well.
Ryzen 7 7700X Zen 4, same 12-game RTX 5090/1080p retest. Higher-clocked Zen 4 does not become obsolete because Zen 5 exists.
Ryzen 7 9700X Zen 5, identical test methodology. Best considered for a new build or non-gaming workloads unless priced close to Zen 4.

For a new AM5 system, compare total platform cost, power behavior and future upgrade plans. For an existing Zen 4 gaming system, a larger GPU change, more memory or an X3D-class processor may produce a more noticeable result than a same-class non-X3D swap, depending on the game.

What did 30 months of MSI MPG 321URX OLED use reveal about burn-in?

After roughly 8,000 hours at about 200 nits, the MSI MPG 321URX test showed visible panel wear but no evidence that burn-in was accelerating. A vertical line was clearly visible on dark gray and faintly visible on white. Peak brightness declined from 243 to 231 nits; the reported 5% decrease occurred during the last 12 months of the test.

How should you interpret those numbers?

  • The panel is not unchanged after long, repeated use: a static-pattern artifact can become visible.
  • The measured brightness change is modest, but it is a real long-term change under the stated test conditions.
  • The result does not predict identical wear for every owner; brightness, content mix, compensation cycles and usage schedule differ.
  • The review’s conclusion was that burn-in need not dominate most buying decisions because the wear was not accelerating.

OLED remains a sensible choice when contrast, motion clarity and dark-room image quality are priorities. Buyers who display fixed desktop elements continuously should enable the monitor’s pixel-care features, vary window layouts and avoid running the panel at unnecessarily high brightness.

Is the Alienware AW3426DW the best-value 34-inch QD-OLED ultrawide?

Reviewers describe the Alienware AW3426DW’s 280Hz Penta Tandem QD-OLED panel as exceptional at approximately $800. TechSpot called it a go-to 34-inch QD-OLED ultrawide and found little reason to spend roughly $150 more on a 360Hz alternative unless you routinely sustain more than 280 FPS.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

When does 360Hz make sense?

Your use Better fit Reason
Story games, mixed use and most multiplayer play AW3426DW at 280Hz Lower price while retaining very high refresh and QD-OLED contrast.
Competitive titles consistently above 280 FPS 360Hz model The extra refresh headroom can be used rather than sitting idle.
GPU-limited ultrawide gaming AW3426DW Paying for 360Hz brings little benefit if the GPU cannot feed it.

Check your game’s sustained, not peak, frame rate before choosing. A 360Hz panel is a performance tool for a narrow audience; the 280Hz model is the broader value recommendation in this comparison.

Which cooling, case and motherboard reviews matter for an AM5 build?

Is the Corsair Nautilus II 360 RS ARGB a practical liquid cooler?

Tested on a Ryzen 9 9950X, the Corsair Nautilus II 360 RS ARGB delivered pleasing temperatures. It uses standard 4-pin PWM and 3-pin ARGB headers rather than a proprietary iCUE Link connection.

That connector choice simplifies mixed-brand builds: pump and fan speed can be controlled from the motherboard, and lighting can use a conventional 3-pin ARGB header. Verify radiator length, top clearance and motherboard-header access before purchase; the test does not establish identical temperatures in every case.

What makes the Formula V Line Air Power G10 case unusual?

eTeknix praised the case’s independently tilting front-fan brackets, four preinstalled PWM ARGB fans, 420 mm GPU clearance, BTF motherboard support and movable PSU/fan chamber. These features target builders balancing a very long graphics card, unusual cable routing or custom airflow priorities.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • Use the movable chamber to preserve GPU or radiator clearance rather than treating it as a cosmetic feature.
  • Confirm BTF motherboard compatibility if you plan to route connectors behind the board.
  • Account for the case’s total radiator, fan and cable paths before selecting a 420 mm GPU or large liquid cooler.

Is the Gigabyte X870 AORUS Infinity motherboard worth its premium?

TweakTown calls it a memory-overclocking monster and a niche board for deep-pocketed enthusiasts. Most AM5 buyers have cheaper, more practical options.

Choose it for unusually aggressive memory tuning or a feature set you can identify in advance, not merely because it carries a premium chipset name. For a typical gaming build, allocate the difference to the GPU, storage or a better monitor unless the board’s specific connectivity and tuning controls solve a real requirement.

Does the Lian Li Edge Platinum V2 1350W add useful protection?

TechPowerUp gave the $259.99 Lian Li Edge Platinum V2 1350W a Highly Recommended rating, highlighting its bundled Edge Hub ADV. The hub monitors GPU power-cable temperatures and can shut the system down if temperatures remain too high.

This is a safety feature, not a performance mode. It is most relevant in a high-power build where connector condition, cable routing and sustained GPU load deserve active monitoring. Install the sensing hardware exactly as directed, keep the cable fully seated and do not treat a protective shutdown as permission to ignore an overheating connector.

Which mouse, headset and keycap reviews are worth your attention?

Is the Razer Basilisk V4 Pro a meaningful wireless-mouse upgrade?

Reviews broadly praise the lighter body, 50K sensor, native 8,000Hz polling and HyperScroll wheel. The mouse costs $169.99; its charging dock is sold separately for $69.99. Windows Central criticized the AI features, so the hardware—not the software branding—should drive the purchase.

Native 8,000Hz polling can reduce input-report intervals, but it also increases USB and CPU activity. Competitive players should confirm that their game, operating system and monitor pipeline benefit before paying the premium. The dock is optional if you are comfortable charging by cable.

Is the Corsair HS80 V2 MAX a good all-purpose wireless headset?

Basic Tutorials praised its sound, microphone, simultaneous connectivity and battery life. KitGuru rated it 7.5/10, highlighted the 110-hour battery and reported two caveats: sound behavior that depends on iCUE and a flip-to-mute bug.

  • Buy it for long battery life and the ability to maintain simultaneous connections.
  • Plan to use the control software if you need the intended sound profiles.
  • Test the microphone mute state after flipping the boom; the reported bug makes that gesture less trustworthy than it should be.

Do GMK TriggerKey lever keycaps improve mechanical keyboards?

GMK TriggerKey caps clip over existing switches and allow up to 34 degrees of resting-angle adjustment. Reviews split between calling them a useful hair-trigger gimmick and questioning their value on binary mechanical switches.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The concept makes more sense with Hall Effect switches, where adjustable actuation can turn a lever into a configurable control. On conventional switches, the key still has a binary press, so comfort and novelty may matter more than measurable input advantage. Check stem compatibility and keycap clearance before ordering a full set.

Maximum GPU performance Aorus RTX 5080 Infinity 16G Top PCMag RTX 5080 result, cool operation and lower measured power. $1,899 for a single-digit lead over the Founders Edition.
Competitive 1080p/1440p value ASUS T1 RTX 5060 Ti 8GB Strong target for high-refresh play with DLSS 4.5. 8GB limits heavy ray tracing and path tracing.

Ultrawide monitor value Alienware AW3426DW 280Hz QD-OLED at about $800. 360Hz costs more and helps mainly above 280 FPS.
Long-term OLED ownership MSI MPG 321URX update Provides an 8,000-hour wear reference. Individual wear varies with brightness and static content.
High-power electrical safety Lian Li Edge Platinum V2 1350W Temperature-monitoring hub can trigger shutdown. $259.99 and requires careful sensor installation.

What are the biggest buying mistakes to avoid?

  1. Confusing a review crown with a new GPU tier. The Aorus card’s lead is a narrow factory-overclock result.
  2. Ignoring total platform cost. A premium GPU is wasted if the display, CPU or power delivery cannot support your target workload.
  3. Buying 360Hz without sustained frame rate. Measure typical FPS, not a short benchmark peak.
  4. Assuming 8GB is future-proof for every game. The RTX 5060 Ti’s 8GB capacity is specifically the weak point in path-traced and heavily ray-traced titles.
  5. Treating OLED wear as either impossible or inevitable. The long-term test found visible wear, but no accelerating failure pattern.
  6. Overlooking ecosystem dependencies. The headset’s sound behavior depends on iCUE, while the Nautilus II uses standard motherboard headers and the mouse dock costs extra.
  7. Choosing enthusiast motherboard features without a workload. The X870 AORUS Infinity is aimed at memory-tuning enthusiasts, not automatically at every AM5 gamer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much faster is the Aorus RTX 5080 Infinity than the Founders Edition?

The cited PCMag roundup describes the advantage as single-digit performance, not a fixed percentage that applies to every game. Results will vary with the factory-overclock profile, driver and test workload.

Will an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB run modern games at 1440p?

It is positioned for 1440p competitive gaming, particularly with DLSS 4.5. For demanding ray-traced games, expect to tune textures, ray-tracing quality or upscaling because 8GB can become the limiting resource.

How many years does an OLED gaming monitor last?

The 30-month test documents about 8,000 hours of use rather than promising a service-life figure. It found a visible line and a 5% peak-brightness decline under its conditions, so longevity depends heavily on brightness and static-content habits.

Do I need a 1350W power supply for an RTX 5080 build?

The review of the 1350W unit highlights monitoring and protection features, but it does not establish a universal wattage requirement for every RTX 5080 system. Choose capacity from the exact GPU and CPU specifications, transient requirements and your planned upgrades.

Are 8,000Hz gaming mice useful outside esports?

The higher polling rate shortens report intervals, but the benefit is easiest to notice in high-refresh, low-latency setups. USB, CPU and game-engine overhead can outweigh the advantage for ordinary desktop use.
