For a new US digital buyer, the $69.99 Complete Edition is now the simplest choice. It combines the PS5 campaign with the paid Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion, Most Wanted single-player survival mode, the earlier Digital Deluxe items and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. If you want a disc, start with the original Standard Edition and compare its actual price plus the $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade. Existing owners should buy that upgrade rather than the full game again. The Collector’s Edition is for its physical display pieces: its included game is a digital entitlement, not a Blu-ray disc.
Prices and stock can change, so confirm the US basket, entitlement text and seller conditions before paying. Sony’s current game page is the authoritative starting point: PlayStation Ghost of Yōtei.

| Standard Edition (original physical release) | Buyers who require a Blu-ray disc and only need the campaign | Base PS5 game on disc; no verified physical Complete Edition | $69.99 US launch MSRP in 2025; current retail price varies | PS5, PS5 Pro | Oct 2026 |
| Complete Edition Upgrade | Anyone who already owns a base-game edition | Adds Echoes of Sekigahara, Most Wanted and the listed Deluxe-related items | $14.99 US digital listing | PS5, PS5 Pro | Oct 2026 |
| Collector’s Edition | Collectors who want the resin mask and other display objects | Digital game entitlement plus physical collectibles; no game disc | $249.99 US launch MSRP in 2025; current resale price varies | PS5, PS5 Pro | Oct 2026 |
Which Ghost of Yōtei edition should each buyer choose?
The right purchase depends on four things: whether you already own the base game, whether you need a disc, whether the two paid additions matter to you, and whether you are buying collectibles rather than software.
New buyer who wants every paid feature digitally
Choose the Complete Edition at Sony’s listed $69.99 US price. It includes the base campaign, the Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion, Most Wanted and the previously separate Digital Deluxe in-game items, plus the Charm of Hokkyokusei. It is a better starting point than treating the old $79.99 Digital Deluxe launch offer as the current premium option. The listing is digital, so it does not provide a Blu-ray disc.

New buyer who wants a physical disc
The verified Blu-ray product is the original Standard Edition. Sony’s physical listing does not establish a retail disc version of the later Complete Edition. Buy the disc alone if the campaign is all you need; compare the disc’s actual price with the $14.99 upgrade only when you also want the paid expansion and survival mode.
Existing owner of any base-game edition
Use the Complete Edition Upgrade listed at $14.99 US. Sony describes it for owners who already have a base-game edition and also includes the previously Deluxe-related items for owners who are missing them. Do not purchase the $69.99 game again simply to obtain the expansion and Most Wanted.

Choose the original Collector’s Edition only when its display pieces justify the seller’s current price and condition. It contains a digital game entitlement rather than a disc, and its $249.99 US figure was a 2025 launch MSRP, not a guaranteed October 2026 resale price. Check whether the included voucher has been redeemed and whether the seller clearly describes the box contents.
What does the Complete Edition include?
The Complete Edition is the only currently listed package that puts the base game and both paid additions together for one digital price. Sony’s page identifies these components:
- The complete PS5 base campaign.
- Echoes of Sekigahara, the story expansion.
- Most Wanted, a separate single-player combat survival mode. Sucker Punch describes it as “a brand new single-player combat survival mode, our spin on a roguelike” in its August 12, 2026 announcement.
- The earlier Digital Deluxe items: The Snake armor, an alternate armor dye, a special horse and saddle, a charm, a sword kit and early Traveler’s Maps access.
- The Charm of Hokkyokusei.
The $69.99 figure is a Sony US listing observed in 2026 and is volatile. Check the final basket for taxes, regional entitlement wording and any change to the displayed offer at PlayStation.com.
How do I compare a disc purchase with the digital Complete Edition?
Use total cost, not the sticker price of the disc alone. At the cited US prices, a Standard disc priced at $55.00 or less plus the $14.99 upgrade would total no more than the $69.99 digital Complete Edition before tax or shipping.
- Find the exact Standard Edition PS5 disc listing and confirm it is the original Standard release.
- Check the seller’s price, shipping, taxes, return terms and disc condition.
- Add the $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade to your calculation only if you want Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted.
- Compare that total with the $69.99 digital Complete Edition in your account’s US store.
- Choose the disc when resale, lending or a physical collection matters more than the convenience of a single digital purchase.
The $55.00 figure is an editorial calculation from Sony’s $69.99 Complete Edition and $14.99 upgrade listings, not a published discount or a verified retailer offer. Sony’s physical destination is PlayStation Direct; its retrieved description did not establish a dependable current checkout price or stock level.

Can owners upgrade without buying the game again?
Yes, Sony lists a $14.99 US Complete Edition Upgrade for people who already own a base-game edition. The upgrade is the economical route to the paid expansion and Most Wanted; ownership and regional eligibility should be confirmed in the store basket before payment.
- Sign in to the PlayStation account that owns your game entitlement.
- Open the upgrade listing: Complete Edition Upgrade.
- Read the basket’s ownership message and included-content list. Make sure it identifies your edition or disc entitlement correctly.
- Pay the $14.99 US price only after the basket shows the expected expansion, survival mode and any missing Deluxe-related items.
If the store does not recognize your entitlement, stop rather than buying the full game as a workaround. Resolve the account, region or disc-eligibility issue with PlayStation support or the retailer first.
What changed from the original 2025 lineup?
The launch editions still matter when you are evaluating an old listing or a resale copy, but their prices are historical. The Complete Edition and its owner upgrade are the significant 2026 additions.
| Launch edition | Published 2025 MSRP | What it represented |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | $69.99 | Base game; available as the original physical disc release |
| Digital Deluxe | $79.99 | Base game plus Snake armor, alternate dye, special horse and saddle, charm, sword kit and early Traveler’s Maps |
| Collector’s | $249.99 | Digital game entitlement, Deluxe items and physical collectibles |
Those amounts came from the 2025 announcement and are not promises of today’s discounts, stock or resale value. A seller using “Deluxe” or “Collector’s” in a current listing may be describing launch packaging rather than a newly priced product. The original announcement is archived at PlayStation.Blog.
Which features are free, and which require the upgrade?
Do not pay for the free Legends update or the named October 2026 patch additions. The Complete Edition Upgrade is for the paid expansion and Most Wanted, not for every new feature Sony announced.
- Ghost of Yōtei Legends: a free major update for owners. Online multiplayer requires PlayStation Plus.
- Beauty of Yōtei: included in the October 2026 free patch.
- Watanabe Mode tracks: moved into the free-patch description in Sony’s August 14, 2026 correction.
- Armor-appearance options and a high-contrast option: also part of the free patch.
- Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted: the material paid additions supplied by the Complete Edition or the $14.99 upgrade.
PlayStation Plus is therefore an online-multiplayer requirement, not a prerequisite for buying or playing the single-player campaign. Sony’s current announcement and correction are available through PlayStation.Blog and the game page.
Does the Collector’s Edition include a disc?
No. The original Collector’s Edition includes a digital copy of the game and physical display items, not a Blu-ray game disc. Its launch package should not be treated as an automatic entitlement to the later paid Complete Edition content.

The announced $249.99 US price was a 2025 launch MSRP. For a resale copy, inspect the seller’s price, condition, included voucher and redemption status; the value of the objects and the value of a usable digital entitlement are separate questions. Sony’s original product description is at PlayStation Direct.
What preorder, bundle and bonus traps should I avoid?
- Old Digital Deluxe pricing: the $79.99 launch offer is historical. Compare a new digital purchase with the current $69.99 Complete Edition instead.
- Collector’s assumptions: a 2025 Collector’s box does not prove that a later paid expansion or survival mode is included.
- Original preorder mask and avatar: those incentives were tied to preordering the original edition. Do not assume a later retail or resale copy supplies them.
- Complete Edition Sakai Armor early unlock: Sony’s early-unlock purchase offer ended September 30, 2026. That expired offer is different from the armor’s ordinary availability in the game.
- Physical preorder codes: original Standard preorder bonus codes required internet access and a PlayStation Network account.
- Themed PS5 bundle: the limited console has a disc drive but its included Ghost of Yōtei copy is digital Standard Edition. The bundle is not evidence of a bundled disc or Complete Edition.
The bundle details and offer qualifications were published by Sony at PlayStation.Blog. Treat old FAQ text or a September 30, 2026 offer displayed beside newer product information as potentially stale, and verify the basket before checkout.
What consoles and subscriptions are supported?
Sony lists Ghost of Yōtei for PS5 and PS5 Pro. It is not a PS4 title. The campaign can be purchased and played without PlayStation Plus; Plus matters only when you use Legends online multiplayer.
This platform distinction also applies to bundles and collectibles: a disc-drive PS5 bundle can still contain a digital game code, while a Collector’s Edition can contain a digital entitlement without any disc. Check the exact format line before assuming that “PS5” means physical media.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Is Digital Deluxe worth it, or should I choose Complete Edition?
For a new digital buyer comparing the original launch options with Sony’s current listing, Complete Edition is the clearer value at the cited prices: its $69.99 listing is below the historical $79.99 Digital Deluxe launch MSRP and includes the two paid additions as well as the earlier Deluxe items. The Deluxe bonuses are armor appearance, a horse and saddle, charm, sword kit and early access to Traveler’s Maps; weigh them as bonus content, not as a reason to pay an old launch price when the newer package is listed for less.
That comparison is not a promise that every region or storefront will show identical pricing. If you see a current Deluxe-labelled offer, compare the exact contents and checkout total rather than relying on the name. The 2025 MSRP is useful for identifying what the old edition was, but it does not establish a current discount or current availability.
Can I upgrade a physical copy?
Sony lists the Complete Edition Upgrade for owners of a base-game edition, and the original Standard Edition is available on disc. If you own that physical copy, sign in to the account you use with the game and check whether the upgrade listing and basket recognize your ownership. Confirm that the expected content appears before paying. If your account or disc is not recognized, do not buy the full game again until PlayStation support or the seller has clarified the eligibility issue.

Remember that the upgrade is digital content; it does not turn the Standard disc into a physical Complete Edition. Keep the original disc if it is needed to access your game, and do not assume a used copy’s promotional code is unused or transferable.
Are the Collector’s objects or other merchandise necessary to play?
No. The mask, sash, tsuba and stand, papercraft ginkgo tree, art cards, and Zeni Hajiki coins with pouch are display or collectible contents, not requirements for the game. The original Collector’s package pairs those objects with a digital entitlement, so buyers should separately decide whether they want the digital game and whether the objects justify the resale price.
Other licensed merchandise, including separately sold themed controllers, model-specific covers, clothing, accessories and the Youtooz Atsu figure or plush, is optional. None is an edition prerequisite or a substitute for checking whether a software bundle contains a disc or digital entitlement. Buy merchandise only if you want the item itself.
How should I make the final purchase decision?
- Check ownership first. If your account already owns the base game, price the $14.99 upgrade rather than another full edition.
- Choose format. Select the digital Complete Edition for the $69.99 all-in package; select the original Standard disc when physical media is the priority.
- Value the paid additions honestly. Buy the upgrade or Complete Edition for Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted, not for Legends or the free patch.
- Separate cosmetics from gameplay. Deluxe items are in-game bonuses; they do not replace the campaign, expansion or survival mode.
- Inspect used or resale listings. Confirm disc condition, voucher status, region, seller legitimacy and whether a quoted price is a launch MSRP or a current offer.
- Recheck at checkout. Sony’s prices, stock and displayed promotional copy can change, and taxes or shipping alter a disc comparison.
How were these choices ranked?
The order prioritizes total paid price, access to the paid expansion and survival mode, disc versus digital entitlement, existing ownership, the value of cosmetic or early-unlock bonuses, and the Collector’s physical objects. Free features and expired promotions were excluded from the price of an edition, while every historical MSRP is labeled as historical rather than presented as a current deal.
Frequently Asked Questions
What physical items are in the Ghost of Yōtei Collector’s Edition?
The announced set includes a resin Ghost mask, sash, tsuba with stand, papercraft ginkgo tree, art cards, and Zeni Hajiki coins with a pouch. The box also provides a digital game entitlement, so a buyer seeking a disc must purchase the Standard physical release separately.
How many players does Ghost of Yōtei Legends support online?
Sucker Punch describes Legends as supporting up to four online players. PlayStation Plus is required for that online multiplayer, but not for the single-player campaign.
Does the Complete Edition’s $69.99 price include a physical copy?
No. The $69.99 Sony listing is for the digital Complete Edition. The verified physical product is the original Standard Edition disc, which can be paired with the separately listed $14.99 upgrade if you want the paid additions.

Is Digital Deluxe worth it?
The original Digital Deluxe edition had a $79.99 US launch MSRP in 2025 and added in-game bonuses such as The Snake armor, a horse and saddle, charm, sword kit, alternate dye and early Traveler’s Maps access. Sony’s 2026 digital Complete Edition listing is $69.99 and includes those earlier items plus the paid expansion and Most Wanted, making it the more direct comparison for a new digital buyer at those listed prices.
Can I upgrade my physical Standard Edition copy?
Sony lists the $14.99 Complete Edition Upgrade for owners of a base-game edition. Sign in to the account associated with the game and confirm that the store basket recognizes your ownership and lists the expected content before paying.
Recommended Free Tools
Is Ghost of Yōtei Legends free, and do I need PlayStation Plus?
Legends is identified as a free major update for owners. PlayStation Plus is required for its online multiplayer, which supports up to four players; Plus is not a requirement for buying or playing the single-player campaign.
Does the Collector’s Edition include the later expansion and Most Wanted?
Do not assume so. The original Collector’s Edition includes a digital game entitlement and the launch-era items, but its package is not an automatic entitlement to the later paid Complete Edition content. Check any resale copy’s voucher status and the store listing.
Is Ghost of Yōtei available for PS4?
No. Sony lists support for PS5 and PS5 Pro, not PS4.
The Bottom Line
For most new US digital buyers, choose the $69.99 Complete Edition. If you already own the base game, check the $14.99 upgrade instead. If you want a disc, price the original Standard Edition and add the upgrade only if you want its paid expansion and survival mode. Buy the Collector’s Edition for its objects, not for a disc or an assumed entitlement to later content. Legends and the named October 2026 patch features are free; PlayStation Plus applies only to Legends online multiplayer. Confirm prices, stock, format and voucher status in the actual basket.
