FragPunk: Farlands is an announced free-to-play PvPvE mode scheduled for worldwide Early Access on PC and consoles on 5 November 2026. It expands the hero shooter into a large, changing arena where players scavenge supplies, carry valuable cargo through environmental and player threats, and return with resources to improve gear, vehicles and a base. The “revive” claim is still a prediction: Farlands had not launched by 28 October 2026, so there are no retention, queue, review or revenue results showing whether it will restore FragPunk’s early popularity.
What is FragPunk Farlands?
Farlands is a new gameplay pillar running alongside FragPunk’s established Shard Clash mode. Bad Guitar Studio describes it as a “delivery-driven adventure set within a vast, ever-evolving arena.” The publisher says players will make perilous cargo runs, scavenge useful supplies, outsmart rivals or form temporary alliances, then bring resources home for upgrades.

It is free to play and is planned for PC and console. Players are expected to access it through the existing FragPunk launcher or client rather than installing a separate game, according to the announcement published through GamesPress.
When does Farlands release?
Worldwide Early Access is scheduled for 5 November 2026 on PC and consoles. The announcement does not state how long Early Access will last, whether every platform receives identical features at launch, or how frequently the mode will be updated.

- Frag is a tabletop game that simulates a "first-person shooter" experience without a computer.
- Players move their fighters across the tabletop, engaging in combat with opponents to "frag" them.
- Players navigate through blood spatters to restore their health, creating a balance between offense and defense.
- The game incorporates cards for weapons, armor, and gadgets, adding a strategic and dynamic element to the gameplay.
Is Farlands an extraction shooter?
Farlands uses an extraction-style risk-and-reward loop, although its final rules have not been published. The central task is to transport cargo to a destination and return resources, while deciding when the value of a haul justifies taking a more dangerous route.
How a cargo run is supposed to work
- Scavenge: Search the arena for supplies and resources.
- Accept risk: Valuable cargo makes a player a more attractive target and may force a choice between speed, cover and combat.
- Traverse: Move through weather, creatures, shifting faction territories and other environmental hazards.
- Deal with rivals: Fight opponents, evade them, steal cargo or negotiate a temporary escort.
- Deliver and return: Bring the haul home so it can contribute to gear, vehicle and base upgrades.
Insider Gaming characterized the loop as extraction-style and compared its package-carrying, changing-weather and traversal-upgrade ideas with Death Stranding. That is a journalistic comparison, not an indication that Farlands is part of that product or shares its systems.
What makes Farlands PvPvE?
The mode combines player-versus-player conflict with threats controlled by the game. Roaming creatures and environmental forces can endanger a run even when no rival is nearby. Other players may attack, intercept a delivery or take cargo after a fight.
The arena is intended to change between runs. Dynamic weather, moving faction territories and migrating resource nodes should alter routes and the value of different areas. The publisher also says dozens of players share the space, creating opportunities for short-lived cooperation: one group might escort a valuable haul, then betray its partners and claim the cargo.

How is Farlands different from Shard Clash?
Shard Clash remains FragPunk’s established round-based 5v5 hero-shooter format. Farlands is designed around persistent movement, deliveries and resource decisions in a larger shared arena.
| Feature | Shard Clash | Farlands |
|---|---|---|
| Match scale | Established 5v5 teams | Announced shared arena with dozens of players |
| Primary objective | Round-based combat shaped by Shard Cards | Carry and deliver valuable cargo |
| Threats | Primarily opposing teams | Environmental hazards, creatures and opportunistic players |
| Progression named by the publisher | No Farlands-style returned-resource system announced | Returned resources improve gear, vehicles and a base |
| Social structure | No equivalent temporary-alliance system announced | Cooperation and betrayal are part of the pitch |
The comparison shows different objectives rather than a replacement announcement. The publisher has not explained whether Farlands progression carries into other FragPunk modes or how it connects to the wider account system.
Can Farlands revive FragPunk?
There is evidence for the question, but not yet an answer. SteamDB recorded 510 players in game and an 825-player 24-hour peak on 28 October 2026, compared with FragPunk’s all-time concurrent peak of 113,946 on 9 March 2025. Insider Gaming reported 735 concurrent players in an article dated 25 October 2026. These are snapshots taken at different times, so they should not be treated as a single measurement or as proof of a cause.
The figures indicate that current Steam activity is far below the launch-era peak. They do not show why players left, how many console players participate, or whether Farlands will attract new users instead of simply dividing the existing audience. Because Early Access had not begun at the 28 October research date, there are no reliable retention, matchmaking, review or revenue outcomes to evaluate.

What remains unknown before Early Access?
Players should expect more practical details from Bad Guitar Studio or NetEase before treating specific online claims as confirmed. The announcement does not specify:
- Exact team sizes, solo rules or whether groups can queue together.
- Map count, map names, run duration or the number of extraction points.
- What happens to cargo and equipment after a failed delivery.
- Reward tables, upgrade costs or the limits of vehicle and base progression.
- Whether progression carries between Farlands and Shard Clash.
- Monetization details beyond the free-to-play statement.
- The planned end date or milestone schedule for Early Access.
Until those rules are published, descriptions of guaranteed extraction penalties, exact player counts per match or a permanent shared-world economy are speculation.

What should returning and new players expect?
Returning FragPunk players will find a mode built around route planning and risk management rather than only winning a firefight. New players should expect the familiar hero-shooter context but a less predictable pace: a run can be shaped by weather, creatures, a changing resource location or a rival deciding that your cargo is worth pursuing.
On PC or Xbox, a compatible controller is optional rather than required; FragPunk is listed with full controller support on SteamDB. The publisher has not announced a specific recommended controller model or suggested that any accessory is necessary.
