1. Is the controller detected physically?
If the operating system does not list the controller, Steam cannot map it. Reconnect the cable, try another USB port, reseat the wireless receiver, recharge the battery, and pair the device again. Install firmware offered by the controller manufacturer and check for a driver update. A device that disappears when the cable moves or disconnects under light use is more likely to have a cable, port, receiver, battery, or hardware fault than a Steam Input problem.

Open Steam with the controller already connected or paired, then inspect Steam’s controller settings. If it is absent there but visible to the operating system, restart Steam and reconnect the device before trying a different profile. 1. Verify the installed files
In Steam, open Library, right-click the RPG, choose Properties, select Installed Files, and choose Verify integrity of game files. Steam says the check can take several minutes. 5. How do I fix a “Missing Executable” error?
Inspect antivirus or endpoint-security quarantine first. Steam identifies security software as a common cause of a missing executable; a file may have been blocked or removed immediately after installation or an update.
