The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is asking Dutch companies and institutions to turn high-level India–Netherlands discussions into identifiable manufacturing, technology, logistics and supply-chain projects in India. Speaking in Amsterdam on 24 October 2026, FICCI Secretary General Anant Swarup linked the opportunity to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s 25–26 October visit and stressed that each proposal needs an owner, milestones and a way to resolve implementation problems.
The request comes as Dutch investment in India reaches a substantial base, while a new 2026–2030 strategic roadmap expands cooperation into semiconductors, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, maritime logistics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and other technology-intensive fields.

FICCI’s proposal has four connected workstreams rather than a single investment target. The emphasis is on projects that combine Dutch technology, capital or market access with Indian manufacturing capacity, engineering talent and supplier networks.
Manufacturing partnerships
FICCI wants a pipeline of joint ventures and capacity-expansion plans in engineering, industrial equipment, food processing and other technology-intensive industries. Each proposal would need a defined site and infrastructure plan, an approvals schedule and a clear decision on whether production serves India, export markets or both.

Technology collaboration
The chamber is calling for companies, universities, research institutions and startups to work on joint product development and commercial deployment. That includes strengthening local engineering capability, agreeing intellectual-property rights early and creating routes from laboratory work to production.
Supplier-development programs
Dutch companies could help Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) meet requirements for quality management, traceability and sustainability. The practical work may include audits, technical training, documentation systems and staged onboarding of suppliers.
Project follow-up
FICCI’s central demand is execution. Proposed projects should have named counterparts on both sides, measurable milestones and a mechanism for escalating regulatory, financing, infrastructure or procurement problems.

The Netherlands combines a large existing corporate presence in India with strengths in advanced technology, logistics, energy and supply-chain management. Investment is already concentrated in sectors that can support a broader industrial relationship. The Embassy’s January 2000–December 2024 sector table lists Dutch inflows led by services at USD 9,013.82 million (17.08%), computer software and hardware at USD 8,481.52 million (16.07%), trading at USD 3,865.49 million (7.32%), metallurgical industries at USD 3,610.22 million (6.84%) and chemicals other than fertilizers at USD 3,342.35 million (6.33%). Together, those five categories represent 53.64% of the listed inflow.

The two cumulative FDI figures should not be treated as contradictory: the USD 58.1 billion figure covers three additional months and comes from a different published report.
What came out of Piyush Goyal’s October 2026 visit?
Goyal’s two-day Netherlands visit included an approximately 60-business delegation and an India–Netherlands Business Forum attended by about 200 Indian and Dutch representatives. Roundtables covered high technology and innovation; services; agri-food and food processing; logistics and supply-chain connectivity; sustainability and renewable energy; and manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, textiles and engineering goods.

Meetings named by the Press Information Bureau included ASML and Nexperia on semiconductor and electronics topics, Power2X on energy and industrial solutions, and Ingka Group on technology and retail. The range of meetings shows that the proposed relationship is intended to span research, production, infrastructure and commercial distribution.
What projects could follow the Port of Rotterdam engagement?
Swarup said the delegation’s planned engagement at the Port of Rotterdam could lead to commercially viable cooperation in ports, warehousing, cold chains and more efficient goods movement. The PIB confirmed Goyal’s Port of Rotterdam visit and listed logistics and supply-chain connectivity as a roundtable subject.
Potential projects would need to address physical capacity and execution details: available port and warehouse space, temperature-controlled infrastructure, inland connectivity, digital tracking, customs coordination and public–private responsibilities. A logistics proposal is more credible when it specifies the corridor, cargo type, operator, investment requirement and delivery milestones.

Will an India–EU free-trade agreement make India more attractive to Dutch manufacturers?
It could, but the commercial effect depends on the agreement’s final terms and implementation. A PTI report said India and the European Union were expected to sign a free-trade agreement by the end of 2026; that timing was an expectation, not a completed signing at the time of the report.
