If you have not revealed any key, activated a keyless game, or disclosed an associated bonus, you can normally request a whole-order refund through Fanatical after the first 20 minutes and before the order reaches 14 days. Sign in, open Orders, choose View order and keys, select Need help with your order?, then choose Request Refund beside Can I get a refund. The process is not an unconditional entitlement, and it does not refund one item from a multi-item order.
Pre-orders, Mystery purchases, revealed or activated keys, technical faults, and orders outside the self-service window follow different routes. The current operational guidance was updated by Fanatical on October 27, 2026; its terms have an effective date of May 28, 2026.

The self-service button is intended for an unrevealed, ordinary order that is more than 20 minutes old but still within 14 days. Meeting these conditions only makes the request path available; Fanatical’s terms say a refund is not an unconditional entitlement.

These conditions come from Fanatical’s current refund and cancellation guidance. Do not reveal a key just to inspect it while deciding: revealing it can remove the ordinary self-refund route.

How do I request an eligible refund in my Fanatical account?
Use the account page rather than revealing a key or contacting a payment provider first. The following path requests cancellation of the entire order.
- Sign in to Fanatical. Use the account that placed the order.
- Open Orders. Find the purchase you want to cancel.
- Select View order and keys. Do not click a control that reveals a key if it is still hidden.
- Open Need help with your order? This exposes the available order-help options.
- Choose Request Refund beside Can I get a refund.
- Select the reason that best describes the request and click Submit Refund Request.
Fanatical states explicitly: “It is not possible to self-refund a single item from an order.” If the order contains several games, the request concerns all of them. Keep every key and associated bonus hidden until Fanatical has finished reviewing the request.
Why is the Request Refund button missing?
A missing button generally means the order does not meet one of the self-service conditions, or that the purchase belongs to a separate category. Choose the support route that matches what happened instead of repeatedly trying to reveal or activate the content.
The key was revealed or the keyless game was activated
Fanatical’s ordinary self-refund tool is unavailable after a key has been disclosed or a keyless game has been activated. If the game has a technical problem, contact support with the order and fault details; Fanatical says it will investigate and may refund when diagnostics and attempted resolution cannot make the game function correctly. A change of mind, an unsupported computer, or simple dislike of the game is not described as an automatic basis for a refund.
Do not paste the key into a public comment or an unrelated payment dispute. Give any requested key information only through Fanatical’s support channel.
I bought the wrong game
Fanatical says it cannot accept back an incorrectly purchased key once that key has been disclosed. You can still explain unusual circumstances to support, but the published guidance does not promise an exception. If the key is still hidden and the order otherwise qualifies, use the normal whole-order process before revealing anything.

I only want to return one game from a bundle
Self-service refunds the complete order, not a selected item. For an ordinary bundle refund, Fanatical’s FAQ says all bundle keys must remain unrevealed. If any one of the keys has been revealed, explain the situation to support rather than assuming the remaining hidden keys can be refunded separately.
The purchase was a Mystery game
Mystery purchases have a separate rule: revealing the game’s name, even before revealing its key, prevents the ordinary Mystery-purchase refund. If the revealed or delivered key is faulty, contact support so it can investigate and determine whether a replacement or refund is appropriate.
The purchase was a pre-order
Use support rather than the ordinary refund button. Fanatical says an unrevealed pre-purchase key may be cancelled for a full refund up to 48 hours before release or the start of preloading. Include the order number and the email address associated with both your Fanatical account and the order. The specific pre-order guidance is in Fanatical’s pre-purchased and pre-ordered key article.

Wait for Fanatical’s approval, then wait another 20 minutes before trying the self-refund path. Keep all keys and free bonuses unrevealed during that period. If Fanatical cancels the order while it is being authorised, its help article says the payment is refunded without a separate refund request.

The order is more than 14 days old
An older order is outside the stated self-service window. You can still send support a clear description of the circumstances, but Fanatical’s published material does not establish a general late-refund entitlement or guarantee an outcome.
How do I contact Fanatical support about a key refund?
Use Fanatical’s Submit a request form. It asks for an email address, subject, description, and category; the order-number field is optional, and attachments are permitted. Include the order number anyway because it lets support locate the transaction quickly. Fanatical’s terms also list [email protected].

- Enter the email tied to the Fanatical account and, for a pre-order, make sure it is also the email tied to the order.
- Put the order number and the affected game in the subject or opening line.
- State whether the key is unrevealed, revealed, or activated.
- Describe the exact problem, including the wording of a redemption error if there is one.
- Attach relevant screenshots or error details, but do not expose a product key in a public post.
You can adapt this wording; it is not a quotation from Fanatical:
Please review a refund for order [number], purchased using [account email]. I have [not revealed the key / encountered this exact technical error]. The affected game is [title]. Please advise whether a refund or replacement is available.

For an unusable or duplicate Steam key, Fanatical’s FAQ specifically asks for the order number, game, and affected key. Supply those details through the support form when requested, rather than asserting a diagnosis you have not established.
What evidence should I provide for a faulty or unusable key?
Support needs enough information to distinguish a defective key from an ordinary change-of-mind request. Give the platform, the exact redemption message, the game title, the order number, and what happened immediately before the error. If the key was duplicated, already used, or rejected, describe that precise message. Screenshots of the platform error can help, provided they do not expose a key publicly.
Fanatical’s guidance describes troubleshooting and fault resolution before a refund in technical cases. That is different from promising that every technical complaint will be approved: the outcome depends on the investigation and whether the problem can be corrected.
Does a Fanatical refund cover a bundle, bonus, or discount code?
The ordinary request applies to the entire order. Fanatical requires all keys in a bundle, along with free bonus keys, related bonuses, and discount codes, to remain unrevealed for the normal route. There is no self-service option to keep one item and return another.

If a bonus was disclosed accidentally, tell support exactly what was revealed and when. Do not assume the main game can be separated from the rest of the order or that a discount code can be ignored.
What regional refund rights may apply?
Fanatical’s terms describe additional, geographically limited rights, but they do not create a universal right to a refund after a key is revealed. The terms should be read together with applicable consumer law in the buyer’s location.
- European Union: Fanatical describes a qualified withdrawal period for digital content. Disclosure of a key or beginning the digital service may end that withdrawal right. The qualification depends on the applicable legal conditions, so it should not be treated as an automatic 14-day right after activation.
- United Kingdom: Fanatical states that UK customers may have refund or replacement rights for a faulty game within 30 days of purchase. This statement concerns faulty goods and does not mean a US customer, or a customer seeking a change-of-mind refund, receives the same treatment.
- Other locations: Use Fanatical’s support process and check the consumer rules that apply where you bought the digital content. Fanatical says its statutory-rights terms do not remove rights that cannot legally be excluded.
These are Fanatical’s descriptions of regional rights, not individualized legal advice. If the issue is significant, preserve the order record and error evidence before contacting support.
What happens after I submit the request?
Fanatical’s published refund instructions explain eligibility and submission, but they do not state an average approval rate or a guaranteed number of business days for the money to reach your payment method. Do not confuse the 20-minute self-refund wait with bank or card processing time.
Keep the order email, request confirmation, and any support replies. Do not reveal a key while a request is pending unless Fanatical specifically instructs you to do so. If support asks for additional information, reply from the account email and keep the order number in the conversation.

- Revealing a key to check the title: treat the unrevealed state as valuable; use the order page and product description instead.
- Activating a keyless game: activation counts even when no character string was displayed.
- Revealing a bonus or discount code: related benefits are part of the ordinary eligibility conditions.
- Requesting only one item: Fanatical’s tool is for the whole order.
- Using the ordinary flow for a Mystery purchase or pre-order: route those cases to the relevant support process.
- Waiting beyond 14 days: send support the circumstances, but do not assume a late request will be accepted.
- Submitting repeated self-refunds: Fanatical says more than two recent self-refunds can block the tool.
- Making a vague fault claim: provide the exact error and order details instead of saying only that the game does not work.
Which route should I use for my situation?
- Nothing revealed or activated? Check that the order is ordinary, older than 20 minutes, and younger than 14 days. If so, request a whole-order refund from the account.
- Pre-order? Contact support, and check whether the unrevealed cancellation request is still at least 48 hours before release or preloading.
- Mystery purchase? If the name was revealed, use support; a faulty key can be investigated for a possible replacement or refund.
- Key revealed, keyless game activated, or wrong purchase? Self-service is unavailable or unsuitable. Explain the circumstances to support without expecting an automatic approval.
- Technical failure? Send the order number, game, platform, exact error, and useful screenshots so support can diagnose it.
- Regional consumer-rights concern? Mention your country and the date of purchase, and distinguish a faulty product from a change-of-mind request.
Which Fanatical policy should I read?
For ordinary orders, use Fanatical’s refund and cancellation article, updated October 27, 2026. For pre-orders, use the separate pre-order refund guidance. Fanatical’s terms and conditions, effective May 28, 2026, contain the non-unconditional-refund language and regional-rights qualifications.

The practical rule is simple: check whether anything was revealed or activated before doing anything else, then use the account tool only for an eligible whole order. Every other case should be described accurately to Fanatical support, without assuming that a request guarantees a refund.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I cancel a Fanatical order immediately after buying it?
The self-refund control is not available during the initial 20-minute period. Keep all keys and bonuses unrevealed, then check the order page once that period has passed and before the 14-day boundary.
Can I get a refund if I revealed the key but never redeemed it?
Revealing alone removes the ordinary self-service route, even if the key was never redeemed. Contact Fanatical support and explain the circumstances; the published guidance does not promise approval for a wrong or unwanted purchase.
Will Fanatical refund the money to my card on a specific date?
Fanatical’s reviewed instructions do not publish a guaranteed payment-arrival time or average processing period. Keep the request confirmation and ask support about the transaction if the reversal does not appear after your payment provider’s normal posting cycle.
What should I do if the refund option is blocked because I have requested refunds recently?
Fanatical says self-service may be unavailable after more than two self-refunds in the last few weeks. Submit the order details through support instead of creating duplicate requests, and explain which order you want reviewed.
