For EVO Brazil 2027, competitors should bring a tournament-legal controller or fight stick, a tested USB data cable, official photo ID, and proof of both their event pass and game registrations. Spectators can leave the gaming hardware at home, but should pack their ticket, ID, comfortable shoes, a compact rain layer, and a power bank. The event runs March 26–28 at the Green Pavilion of Expo Center Norte in São Paulo; pack for warm, rainy outdoor conditions and long, air-conditioned convention days.
What should you pack for EVO Brazil?
Pack according to how you will attend. A competitor needs hardware that works with the game’s tournament platform and the correct pass and entries; a spectator needs entry documents, weather protection, and the basics for a long day. Both should plan to keep personal belongings with them: event rules place responsibility for equipment and property on the owner, and do not promise individual insurance, maintenance, surveillance, or lockers.

- A legal controller, arcade stick, or other permitted input device, already tested on the platform for your game.
- A working USB data cable for your device, plus a tested spare if the cable is detachable. A cable that only charges will not connect the controller to the console.
- A Brook converter only if your controller needs one to connect to the tournament console.
- Your 3-day Competitor Pass, a separate entry for every game, and start.gg confirmation showing the correct player name and game. Save a screenshot for offline access.
- Official photo ID and, if you are under 18, the required championship authorization described below.
- A power bank, chargers, and headphones. These are useful for long days and noisy match areas.
- A way to carry your stick and keep it with you. Do not leave it at a station or under a chair.
- Optional but useful: a backup legal pad, small cable ties or a Velcro strap, and an offline copy of your pool time.
Spectator checklist
- A ticket for the day or days you plan to attend, plus official photo ID.
- A compact rain layer or umbrella, comfortable closed shoes, a power bank, and sealed snacks that meet the venue’s food rule.
- If you have a solidarity ticket, the required 1 kg of non-perishable food (not salt or sugar). If you have a half-price ticket, bring the Brazilian statutory documents that prove eligibility for meia-entrada.
- Cash or a card for the food court, Artist Alley, and official store. Unauthorized selling inside the event is prohibited.
Which controller or fight stick is legal at EVO Brazil?
EVO is a bring-your-own-controller event: competitors must bring a compatible, permitted device themselves. The EVO Brazil rules put responsibility for that choice on the player, while the EVO rules describe the global controller requirements. Borrowing from someone still playing in the same pool is not allowed except when equipment fails mid-set.
Choose familiar, compliant hardware rather than buying a new device just for the event. Legality is about how the input works and whether it meets the rules, not its price or shape.

Before leaving, connect the controller to the platform listed for your title and verify that it works in a match-like setup. Use the same cable and converter combination you plan to bring. At the station, check buttons before play; after connecting, one player should clear leftover Bluetooth pairings on the console so a previously paired controller does not interrupt the set. Tie or route cables so they do not block an aisle.
A controller malfunction can cost a round or game if play is paused. A backup legal pad can help you recover quickly, but it does not remove that risk. Keep a detachable USB data cable and spare close at hand rather than assuming a charging cable or borrowed equipment will solve a connection problem.

What pass and registration do competitors need?
To compete, you need a 3-day Competitor Pass, a separate R$50 registration for each game, and a completed competitive registration through start.gg. The pass alone does not enter you into a bracket. The organizer lists a total prize pool of R$1,000,000 (EVO Brazil official site, 2026); per-game prize splits have not been published.

For example, entering Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 means paying two R$50 game registrations—R$100 total—in addition to the Competitor Pass. The organizer has not published the competitive-registration closing date; ticket sales dates are not a substitute for a bracket deadline. Follow the confirmation email and start.gg instructions for badge pickup, and save your confirmations offline in case you cannot get a connection at the venue.
Everyone needs an event ticket. Children aged 10 and under enter free with one paying adult, limited to one child per adult. Attendees aged 15 and under must be accompanied. Those aged 16–17 may enter unaccompanied with ID and legal-guardian authorization, signed with cartório recognition or a gov.br electronic signature.

Extra documents for under-18 competitors
Under-18 competitors also need the championship-specific authorization signed by a parent or legal guardian, with cartório recognition or a gov.br electronic signature. Present it at the EVO Command Center inside the Green Pavilion. This is separate from authorization for a 16- or 17-year-old to enter the venue without an accompanying adult. Mortal Kombat 1 is rated 18 in Brazil; guardian authorization does not automatically make a minor eligible for that game.
What games and platforms should you prepare for?
The official lineup has eight games: Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game; FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves; Guilty Gear -Strive-; The King of Fighters XV; MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls; Mortal Kombat 1; Street Fighter 6; and Tekken 8. Check that your registration and pool schedule refer to the right title before packing or setting up your controller.

Published secondary coverage reports that all eight official tournaments are on PlayStation 5, with The King of Fighters XV using its PlayStation 4 edition on a PS5. It also reports different set lengths by title and says Street Fighter 6 Dynamic controls and the Training Room stage are banned. The live game-specific rules are the authority: confirm the edition, platform, controls, and current restrictions on the EVO rules page before the event, especially if your controller or adapter depends on a particular console version.
The event format is open double-elimination, with pools of 16–32 players scheduled in two-hour blocks. Check in with your pool’s Bracket Referee when the pool is called. Check-in opens 10 minutes before the listed start; for a 2:00 p.m. pool, be ready by 1:50 p.m. Have the controller in hand, buttons ready, and your confirmation screenshot available offline.
What should you wear in São Paulo in March?
Late March is warm and rainy in São Paulo, not reliably dry autumn weather. INMET’s 1991–2020 normal for Mirante de Santana, the city’s official station in the north zone near the venue, gives a March mean maximum of 28°C, a mean minimum of 18.9°C, and 229.1 mm of rain. A separate 1991–2020 climate compilation gives a similar temperature range but a lower rainfall estimate of 160 mm over 13 days; the station normal is the more relevant official figure for the city.
- Wear breathable T-shirts or quick-dry tops for outdoor walks and queues.
- Bring a compact umbrella or light rain jacket. A waterproof pouch or bag liner can protect your phone and controller during a wet walk between the hotel and hall.
- Choose comfortable closed shoes with grip. Expo convention floors can be hard underfoot, and wet sidewalks can be slippery.
- Pack a light hoodie or jacket for air-conditioned indoor spaces. A heavy winter coat is unnecessary for the stated March climate normals.
- Use sunscreen if you expect to queue outdoors; São Paulo summer UV can be high.
Plan for a long day inside: Evo’s own essentials checklist advises comfortable shoes, hydration, and planning food. If storms affect road travel, local travel guidance notes that afternoon downpours can flood streets and increase ride-hailing demand; the Metrô is a practical wet-weather alternative. The nearest listed partner hotel, Novotel São Paulo Center Norte, is about 1.8 km by car or an 18-minute walk from the venue according to the event site. For navigation, use “Expo Center Norte, Pavilhão Verde, São Paulo” and follow venue signage rather than relying on an unlisted street number.

What will security stop you from bringing?
Expect bag inspections. EVO Brazil’s venue rules prohibit or restrict several items, so do not make an expensive or difficult-to-store item part of your travel plan.
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, knives, box cutters, pointed scissors, metal swords, and other piercing or cutting objects.
- Realistic weapon replicas, airsoft equipment, and rigid weapon simulacra. Cosplay props may be inspected; light props without blades, points, or dangerous mechanisms may be allowed at security’s discretion. There is no guaranteed cloakroom for refused items.
- Outside alcohol, glass bottles, risky containers, illicit drugs, drones without express authorization, and aerosols or accessories considered hazardous, including laser pointers, water guns, heavy metal accessories, and dangerous chains.
- Recreational bikes, skates, scooters, and hoverboards. Mobility aids for disability are exempt. Animals are not allowed except legally protected assistance animals.
- Unauthorized selling, flyers, paid mini-tournaments, and commercial filming. Indoor smoking is prohibited; vapes are subject to Brazilian law and event rules.
The default food rule permits only industrially packaged food and drinks in their original sealed packaging, subject to inspection. Exceptions are provided for infant feeding, medical needs, health conditions, and accessibility. If you are bringing food for one of those reasons, check the current event rules rather than assuming an ordinary snack will be accepted.
Should you bring a console for the BYOC area?
Only bring a console if you intend to participate in the community-run BYOC (Bring Your Own Console) area. Players entering official pools do not need to carry a PS5; official stations and community setups are different things.
After security inspection, the community area may allow consoles, controllers, fight sticks, game media, cables, and necessary accessories. Permission to bring an item into the building does not mean you may connect it to organizer power, a network, or an official station. Tables, monitors, power strips, internet access, and technical support are not guaranteed unless an official notice says otherwise. If you plan to join or run a community bracket, bring the equipment your setup actually needs, confirm what the area permits, and stay with your hardware. Community brackets are not official EVO competitions and do not carry official prizes or rankings.

What should international travelers add to the list?
Bring your passport and any visa required for your own circumstances, alongside the same controller and event documents as other competitors. Immigration requirements depend on nationality and travel plans, so verify them with the appropriate official source rather than relying on general tournament travel advice. Pack a small waterproof pouch for travel documents and electronics if you expect to walk outdoors in the rain.
