Valve’s Verified classification means the game meets checks for controller input, readable interface text, a seamless launch and compatibility with the Deck system. Valve describes Verified software as working by default without additional modification. What do you need before installing?
Prepare the account, network connection and storage before pressing Install. The Steam listing states that the PC version needs 60 GB of available space. That is the publisher’s store requirement, not a measurement of the exact bytes used by a Deck installation, so leave additional room for patches and shader data.

How do you install Enshrouded from the Steam Deck interface?
Use the ordinary Steam library workflow. The steps below describe the supported starting configuration rather than a special workaround.

- Open the game page. Select Enshrouded in the library. If you have not purchased it, use the store listing to complete the digital purchase first.

Can you install Enshrouded on a microSD card?

To prepare a new card, insert it, open the Steam storage controls, and allow SteamOS to format it when prompted. Formatting erases existing contents, so copy anything important elsewhere first. After formatting, return to the game’s Install dialog and select the card as the destination. Buying a larger card increases available capacity; it does not, by itself, raise frame rate.

What settings should you use on the first launch?
Start at the defaults. Verified status and the game’s controller support are intended to make the standard configuration usable without a forced compatibility layer, launcher or custom control profile.
Keep the default controller layout initially
Launch with Steam’s supplied layout so that every action is mapped predictably. Only remap buttons after identifying a specific preference or accessibility need. A custom layout can be exported later, but it is not a requirement for the Verified build.

1. Update SteamOS and restart
Open Steam > Settings > System > Software Updates. Install any available update, restart the Deck, and try the game again. This removes an outdated system layer as a variable before you change game compatibility settings.
2. Verify that the download completed
Return to the game’s library page and confirm that Steam no longer shows a pending download, patch or installation task. If the download stopped partway, resume it on a stable connection and allow Steam to complete its processing before launching.
3. Try a recent Proton release only when needed
For a persistent Steam-app problem, Valve documents this path: open Library, highlight the game, open its menu and choose Properties > Compatibility, enable Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool, then select a recent Proton release. Restart the game after applying the change. This is a troubleshooting option, not a required Enshrouded setup step for every Deck.

4. Lower graphics settings if the system is overloaded
If the game launches but is unstable, reduce graphics options in the game before experimenting with more compatibility changes. Lowering settings can reduce load, but the available sources do not provide a verified frame-rate outcome for any particular preset.

5. Recover focus after using the on-screen keyboard
The older Keen Games support note described a possible loss of game focus after the on-screen keyboard closes.
