Dumpster Gang is not downloadable on Nintendo Switch 2 yet. Curve Games and Coyote House Games announced the console version on 28 October 2026, with a worldwide release window of March 2027 and no exact day. Nintendo eShop has no listing at present, so any “Dumpster Gang Switch 2 download” mirror, APK, NSP, or supposed physical pre-order is unverified.
You can play the free PC demo now on Steam or Xbox on PC, and the complete PC version is scheduled for 3 December 2026 on Steam, Xbox on PC, and PC Game Pass. This guide explains what is confirmed, how the eventual Switch 2 Virtual Game Card download will work, and the Nintendo troubleshooting sequence for freezes, launch errors, corrupted data, storage problems, and controller issues.

Is Dumpster Gang on Nintendo Switch 2 yet?
No. The Switch 2 edition has been announced but has not shipped and is not listed in Nintendo eShop. The announced console window is March 2027, without a calendar day, price, file size, age rating, physical SKU, or confirmation of a Game-Key Card.
The announcement appeared during the Nintendo Indie World Showcase Fall 2026 on 28 October 2026 and was confirmed the same day by Curve Games and Coyote House Games. Older fan pages that describe the game as PC-only predate that announcement and are stale.

What is Dumpster Gang?
Dumpster Gang is a one-to-four-player cooperative action sandbox from new studio Coyote House Games, published by Curve Games. You play mischievous raccoons stealing junk and snacks, completing absurd missions, and avoiding an Exterminator who can trap and capture members of the gang.
Core systems
- Vertical exploration: sprint, climb walls, crawl through vents, and move through multi-level environments.
- Physics-driven mischief: pick up, throw, steal, and smash objects; chain reactions and accidents are part of the design.
- Co-op problem solving: one to four players can haul heavy loot, solve puzzles, and rescue captured teammates. Solo play is supported.
- Hideout progression: customize a raccoon, unlock hats with unique abilities, and decorate a hideout with stolen items.
- Capture-and-rescue loop: the Exterminator’s traps can remove a player from the action until the gang stages a rescue.
Steam currently lists full controller support and Xbox controller support. It also marks the game as having interactive elements, including in-game chat and online interactivity. The complete game has no user reviews because it is unreleased, and Steam Deck compatibility is listed as unknown.
How can I download Dumpster Gang on Switch 2 when it launches?
When the game is published, buy or redeem it through Nintendo eShop with the Nintendo Account that will own it. Switch 2 digital software is represented as a Virtual Game Card (VGC), which you load to an eligible console before playing.
- Connect the Switch 2 to the internet.
- If a Dumpster Gang icon is already on the HOME Menu, highlight it and choose Download.
- If there is no icon, open Virtual Game Cards on the HOME Menu, select the purchasing user, and complete the password or PIN authentication if Nintendo requests it.
- Select Dumpster Gang and choose Load to This Console (Nintendo’s wording may also appear as Load on This System).
- For several purchases, open Virtual Game Cards, press X, select the cards, and choose Load Multiple.
If the console is not one of the two consoles allowed to load your Virtual Game Cards and Online License is enabled, open Virtual Game Cards → user → title → Options → Download Data. That downloads the software data without loading the card itself.

If the icon does not appear
Restart the console: hold POWER for three seconds, choose Power Options, then Restart. Demos, Nintendo Switch Online classic libraries, Expansion Pack DLC, and Game Trials are commonly redownloaded from Nintendo eShop rather than from the Virtual Game Card menu.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What does “You must have the software in order to play” mean?
Nintendo says this message usually means the downloadable game or DLC is not present on the console, rather than indicating a hardware failure. Restart, check for a software update, load the Dumpster Gang Virtual Game Card, and start the title again.
For a physical card, Nintendo’s sequence is different: restart, remove and reinsert the card, delete the software data while keeping the save, install updates, and redownload DLC. No physical Dumpster Gang edition has been announced, so do not buy a listing that claims to be a Switch 2 cartridge.
What should I do if Dumpster Gang freezes or will not start?
The Switch 2 build has not launched, so there are no Dumpster Gang-specific crash reports or published crash-rate figures. If the finished download shows a long load, severe lag, a frozen console, a logo followed by a return to HOME, or either “Unable to start software. Return to the HOME Menu and try again” or “Could not start the software. Please try again from the HOME Menu,” use Nintendo’s downloaded-software sequence below. If a numerical error code is displayed, search that code first because Nintendo assigns a separate procedure to many codes.
- Restart: hold POWER for three seconds → Power Options → Restart. If the console is unresponsive, hold POWER for 12 seconds to force it off, then turn it on.
- Update the system: open System Settings → System → System Update. Install the update and restart if prompted.
- Update the game: highlight Dumpster Gang on HOME without opening it, press + or −, choose Software Update, then Via the Internet.
- Scan the installation: open System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software → Dumpster Gang → Scan for Corrupted Data. Nintendo UK labels the same command Check for Corrupted Data.
- Delete and redownload: use System Settings → Data Management → Manage Software → Dumpster Gang → Delete Software. The HOME icon disappears, but save data remains. Redownload with the owning Nintendo Account through Virtual Game Cards or eShop.
Redownloading is also the point at which to reinstall downloadable content and purchase bonuses. Reinstalling the software does not, by itself, erase the save.

Could a microSD Express card be the cause?
Yes, storage is the next Nintendo branch when the problem persists and a card is inserted. Switch 2 accepts microSD Express only; ordinary Switch microSD cards that lack the Express standard cannot be used.
- Format the card: back up screenshots and videos to a computer first, then open System Settings → System → Formatting Options → Format microSD Card → Continue → Format. The console restarts. Formatting erases the card; save data stored in system memory is not deleted, and games can be redownloaded.
- Try another microSD Express card: a defective or incompatible card can reproduce launch and read errors.
- Remove the card and install internally: power off the console, open the adjustable stand to reach the slot, press the card until it clicks, slide it out, and redownload Dumpster Gang to internal storage.
Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal storage, which is the cleanest diagnostic destination when the card is suspect. If the software still fails after an internal install, Nintendo’s next step is contacting support.
How do I fix a Dumpster Gang controller that is not working?
Dumpster Gang is designed for one to four players, so controller setup matters for local sessions. The Switch 2-specific controls have not been published, but Nintendo’s Joy-Con 2 hardware and a few practical launch checks explain the likely first steps.
Reseat both Joy-Con 2 controllers
Joy-Con 2 controllers attach with magnetic connectors and release buttons. An unofficial third-party troubleshooting report describes occasional startup problems when the left controller rail is not registered correctly. Treat this as practical advice, not as a Nintendo-confirmed Dumpster Gang bug:
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Slide both Joy-Con 2 controllers off the console.
- Slide them back on until each side makes a firm magnetic connection.
- If the left side still does not respond, restart the Switch 2 with both controllers detached.
- After the HOME Menu appears, attach the controllers and launch the game.
If a controller works in the HOME Menu but not in the game, close the software completely, reconnect the controllers, and update both the console and the game before trying again.

Do not assume mouse mode is supported
Each Joy-Con 2 has a side-mounted mouse sensor, and either controller can act as a mouse in compatible games. Nintendo does not make mouse mode universal. Keep the controllers off a table or other flat surface while launching if you suspect an accidental mouse gesture is confusing startup.
A Brazilian report claimed that Dumpster Gang supports Joy-Con 2 mouse controls and GameShare, but that feature claim is not present in the Curve Games release, Steam listing, Nintendo’s Dumpster Gang material, or the published trailer coverage. Until Curve or Nintendo confirms it, do not buy the game expecting mouse controls or GameShare.
Planning a four-player session
The announcement promises one-to-four-player play, including solo, but it does not specify the final local-versus-online split, a button map, rumble behavior, or a particular Pro-style controller. Plan on the included Joy-Con 2 pair being two controllers and provide additional compatible controllers for a four-player local group. Cross-play among Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox is not confirmed.
Nintendo’s C Button opens GameChat. GameChat requires an internet connection, a Nintendo Account, and Nintendo Switch Online; a camera video chat also needs the Switch 2 camera or a compatible USB-C camera sold separately. That system requirement does not establish whether Dumpster Gang’s own online multiplayer will require Nintendo Switch Online, because the publisher has not specified its netcode or subscription policy.

- Intel Core i5-4670K or AMD FX-8350 processor
- 8 GB RAM
- GeForce GTX 1050 with 2 GB or Radeon RX 550 with 4 GB

The download instructions follow Nintendo’s current Switch 2 Virtual Game Card flow. The crash ladder follows Nintendo’s published order—restart, update, scan, reinstall, then isolate microSD Express storage—while the Joy-Con reseat and mouse-mode cautions are clearly separated as practical, unofficial advice. Release dates, player count, demo contents, and unconfirmed features come from Curve Games, Coyote House Games, Nintendo’s hardware information, and the Steam listing available in October 2026.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Dumpster Gang get a physical Switch 2 cartridge?
No physical edition, Game-Key Card, or digital-only designation has been announced. Curve Games has published physical Nintendo releases for other games, but that history does not establish a cartridge plan for Dumpster Gang.
Can I use an old Nintendo Switch microSD card for the game?
No. Switch 2 requires microSD Express cards. A non-Express card used in an older Switch is not compatible; install the game to the console’s internal storage or use a verified Express card instead.
