How can I check the Android TV version?
- Open Settings on the television or streaming box.
- Choose Device Preferences, System, or a similarly named system menu; manufacturers place the version entry in different locations.

- From the Android TV home screen, open Google Play Store.
- Use the search box or voice search for hide.me VPN.
- Select the hide.me VPN app and choose Install.

How do I install the APK from a USB drive?
- On a computer or another trusted device, obtain the Android TV APK from hide.me’s official download source.
- Copy the APK to a USB drive formatted in a way your TV can read.
- Connect the drive to the TV and open a file manager.
- Select the APK and, when prompted, allow the file manager to install unknown apps.
- Install the package, then turn off the file manager’s unknown-app permission after the installation completes.
A USB method is useful when the TV’s browser or Downloader cannot reach the download address. It does not remove the Android 7.0 requirement, and an APK built for another device type may not provide a usable remote-controlled interface.

How do I connect hide.me and choose the best server for streaming?
After the app is installed and permitted, select a location and connect. For video services, choose a location that the app explicitly marks as streaming-optimised, or use automatic server selection when you do not know which location to try.

Why might playback buffer after connecting?

How to configure split tunnelling
- Open hide.me and go to Settings.
- Select Split Tunnelling.
- Choose the mode offered by the app: select apps to use the VPN, or select apps to bypass it.
- Highlight the TV application you want to change and save or confirm the selection.
- Disconnect and reconnect the VPN, then reopen the affected app.
Use bypass mode for an app that must see your normal network location, such as a local-media or home-control application. Use VPN mode for apps whose traffic you want protected. The wording and list of installed apps can vary by app release and Android TV manufacturer.

The kill switch is intended to block traffic if the VPN tunnel drops, reducing the chance that traffic leaves over the ordinary connection during an interruption. It can also make an outage look like a broken streaming app because playback may stop instead of silently switching to the unprotected network.
If an app stops loading whenever the VPN disconnects, check the kill-switch setting before assuming the account or streaming service is at fault. You can temporarily disable the feature for troubleshooting, but doing so allows traffic to continue outside the tunnel during a drop.
