Does your Windows PC meet Dispatch’s requirements?
Meeting a requirement does not prove that Dispatch is bug-free, but it rules out a common cause: a system below the game’s published baseline. Valve’s current Steam listing, accessed October 29, 2026, specifies the following.

A machine that only meets the minimum can still encounter more frequent asset-loading pauses than a system near the recommended specification, but the published list does not provide a performance guarantee or a frame-rate target.
How do I update Dispatch, Windows, and my graphics driver?
Updating before other diagnosis removes known software-version variables. AdHoc Studio’s FAQ states: If you are experiencing PC crashes, check the minimum specs and ensure all graphics drivers are up to date.
- Open Steam, select Library, right-click Dispatch, choose Properties, and open Updates. Allow Steam to download any pending update.
- Restart Windows after the game update completes. A restart ensures that a newly installed driver or system component is actually loaded.
- Install the current graphics driver supplied for your NVIDIA or AMD GPU. Use the manufacturer’s normal driver channel for your model and operating-system edition.

Disable the Steam overlay
- In Steam, open Library, right-click Dispatch, and choose Properties.
- On the General page, clear Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.
- Close the properties window, restart Dispatch, and test the exact scene that stuttered or produced a black frame.
Disable the Discord overlay
- Open Discord and select User Settings.
- Open Game Overlay and switch off the in-game overlay, or disable it specifically for Dispatch in the registered-games settings.
- Quit and reopen Dispatch before comparing the result.
Disable the NVIDIA GeForce overlay
Open the NVIDIA GeForce application’s settings and turn off its in-game overlay. The label can vary by application release, so use the overlay switch rather than changing unrelated driver options. Restart Dispatch after applying the change.

Could subtitle animation be responsible for a crash?
It can be a useful targeted test. AdHoc Studio’s FAQ says: You can also try disabling subtitle animation as this can cause memory leaks.
That wording identifies a known risk, not proof that subtitle animation causes every crash or that it explains a particular player’s failure.
- Start Dispatch and open its in-game settings.
- Find the subtitle or caption options and switch Subtitle Animation off. If the menu uses a different accessibility label, choose the setting that controls animated subtitle movement rather than subtitle visibility.

How do I fix Dispatch not launching on Steam Deck?
Steam Deck launch failures require a separate system-update and Proton check. AdHoc Studio’s FAQ recommends the Stable update channel and a forced Steam Play compatibility tool.
- Open Steam on the Deck and go to Settings > System.
- Install the available device update and set the system update channel to Stable. Restart the Deck if Steam requests it.
- Open your Library, select Dispatch, open its Properties, and choose Compatibility.
- Enable Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool.
