You can permanently delete a Plenty of Fish (POF) account from a desktop browser, an iPhone, or a mobile browser. On desktop, sign in at POF.com and choose My Profile → Settings → Delete Account. In the iOS app, use My Profile → Manage Account → Delete My Account. POF says its Android app does not currently support in-app deletion, so Android users must open POF.com in a browser and follow the mobile-browser path.
Deletion is irreversible. Your profile will no longer be visible to other members, but POF says some records remain for defined safety, legal, tax, accounting, logging, or consent-retention periods. Cancel any paid membership separately with the company that bills you before confirming deletion; closing the account does not reliably stop an App Store, Google Play, or POF.com subscription.

What is the fastest way to delete a POF account?
Use the path that matches the device where you are signed in, then complete every confirmation screen. The menu names can change slightly between versions, but POF’s dedicated help instructions currently identify these routes:
- Desktop browser: My Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
- iPhone or iPad app: My Profile → Manage Account → Delete My Account.
- Android phone: POF says deletion is not supported inside its Android app. Open POF.com in the phone’s browser, sign in, tap the profile icon, then choose My Profile → Manage Account → Delete My Account.
- Other mobile browsers: Tap the profile icon and use My Profile → Manage Account → Delete My Account.
Before pressing the final confirmation, check billing and save anything you may need. POF states that a deleted account cannot be reactivated, and a new account will not restore its old photos, chats, interactions, or paid upgrades.

How do I delete my POF account on a desktop browser?
On a computer, the deletion control is in your profile settings rather than in the browser’s account menu.
- Go to POF.com and sign in.
- Open My Profile.
- Select Settings.
- Choose Delete Account.
- Read the warnings and finish the on-screen confirmation prompts.
The official instructions do not list every confirmation screen, so follow the wording shown on your account instead of assuming that opening the page has completed deletion. If the button is missing, use POF’s Help Center rather than guessing at a different URL or menu.

How do I delete POF from the iPhone or iPad app?
iOS users can start the process inside the POF app. Deleting the app from the Home Screen is not the same as closing the account.
- Open the POF app and tap My Profile.
- Tap Manage Account.
- Select Delete My Account.
- Complete the confirmation questions and final prompts.
After confirmation, do not reinstall the app expecting the old profile to return. POF’s help guidance says deletion is permanent; creating another account starts over without the previous profile content or upgrades.
Can I delete my POF account in the Android app?
According to POF’s current device guidance, no. The Android app does not currently provide an in-app account-deletion option. Use a browser on the same phone instead.
- Open Chrome, Firefox, or another Android browser and go to POF.com.
- Sign in to the account you want to close.
- Tap the profile icon.
- Open My Profile, then Manage Account.
- Tap Delete My Account and complete the confirmation flow.
If the browser keeps redirecting you to the app, open the browser’s menu and choose its option to request the desktop site, or temporarily disable automatic app-opening links. The important point is to complete the process on POF.com, not to keep searching the Android app for a button that POF says is unavailable.

- Tap My Profile.
- Choose Manage Account.
- Select Delete My Account and follow the remaining prompts.
Use the browser route if the app is outdated, the deletion control is not loading, or you are using an operating system for which POF provides no in-app instructions. POF’s broad terms have also described a Help → Delete account route; the dedicated device instructions above are the more practical starting point. If your labels differ, open the official Help Center instead of treating an unfamiliar screen as proof that deletion has failed.
What should I do before confirming permanent deletion?
Take these steps before the final confirmation because deletion cannot be undone and billing is handled separately.
1. Identify who bills your membership
Look at the receipt or subscription settings for the account. A charge from Apple, Google, or POF.com requires cancellation in that same billing channel. Do not rely on deleting the profile or uninstalling the app to cancel a recurring charge.
2. Cancel the subscription separately
POF’s terms warn that a subscription purchased through an external service can continue charging even after the POF account or app is deleted. Cancel before closing the account whenever possible, and keep the cancellation confirmation.
3. Save information you are allowed to keep
Download or copy material you personally need, such as contact details you exchanged lawfully or receipts for your records. POF’s privacy policy describes an access/request process for personal data. If you want to make such a request, consider doing it before closing the account, because deletion is irreversible and the policy does not promise a one-click export of every chat or photo.
4. Check for evidence of the account and payments
Save recent invoices, the email address registered to POF, and the transaction identifiers shown by your billing provider. This information helps support verify ownership if the deletion page fails or a later billing question arises.
5. Tell important contacts another way to reach you
Once the profile is closed, other members should no longer see it. If you have an ongoing conversation that matters, exchange an alternative contact method before deletion, subject to your own privacy and safety decisions.

Will deleting POF stop my subscription?
Not necessarily. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate actions, and the correct cancellation screen depends on who processes the payment.
Apple App Store subscription
Cancel the POF subscription in Apple’s subscription controls for your Apple ID. Removing the POF app or deleting the POF account does not itself change an App Store renewal.
Google Play subscription
Cancel in Google Play’s subscription controls for the Google account that paid. The Android app’s lack of a deletion button does not move billing responsibility to POF; Google still controls a Google Play purchase.
POF.com-billed membership
POF’s subscription help describes this desktop route: Manage Account → Membership → Account Type → My Membership → cancel membership. Sign in to the POF account first, turn off renewal, and retain the confirmation.

Treat that as a timing requirement for avoiding the next renewal, not as a promise that deletion automatically cancels a membership. POF also says purchases are generally nonrefundable, with exceptions that depend on the jurisdiction and purchase route. Ask the relevant billing provider about any refund; do not assume that cancellation creates one.
Is a deleted POF account recoverable?
No. POF says deleted accounts cannot be reactivated. If you change your mind, you must create a new account, and that new account will not restore the old photos, chat history, member interactions, or paid upgrades.
Because there is no undo step, pause before confirming if you are uncertain. You can sign out, remove notifications, or use POF’s less permanent Take a Break option instead. Do not expect support to reverse a completed deletion; contact support for account-verification or billing problems, not as a guaranteed recovery method.

Should I delete POF, take a break, or leave it inactive?
Choose based on whether you need a reversible pause, immediate closure, or simply no active use. The options have different effects on visibility, billing, and data retention.

Take a Break is not a promise that all processing of your information stops. It hides the profile from search according to the iOS help guidance, but it is not equivalent to the irreversible deletion workflow.
What happens to my profile and personal data after deletion?
POF’s privacy policy says a closed profile is no longer visible to other members. That visibility change is different from immediate erasure of every record in POF’s systems. The policy lists retention periods for particular categories:
- Three months: a safety-retention window after closure.
- Ten years: transaction data and imprecise purchase-location information for stated tax and accounting purposes.
- One year: traffic data and logs.
- Five years: consent records.
- Other periods: certain records may be kept for the period stated for that category, or longer where legal duties, disputes, or claims require it.
These are POF’s published policy periods, not a guarantee that every item disappears on a particular date. Privacy rights and request procedures can vary by location. If you need to exercise an access, deletion, or other privacy right, use the route described in POF’s current privacy policy and provide the information required to verify your request.

A missing button does not necessarily mean that your account cannot be closed. Work through these checks:
- Confirm the device path. Android users should use POF.com in a browser, not the Android app. iOS users should check My Profile → Manage Account.
- Use a current browser session. Sign out, reopen POF.com, and sign in again. A private window can help if an old session is looping, but it will not bypass identity verification.
- Check the account menu, not phone settings. Uninstalling the app, clearing its storage, or removing a shortcut does not submit a deletion request.
- Open the official Help Center. POF’s general terms mention Help → Delete account, while the device-specific help pages use the paths listed above. Follow whichever route the signed-in Help Center presents.
- Contact support if the workflow still fails. For membership or billing questions, POF asks you to write from the registered account email so it can verify ownership. Support may require identity checks and should not be treated as a promise to restore a deleted account.
Keep screenshots of an error message, the account email, and any billing receipt. Do not send a password or payment-card number in an unsolicited message.
What is the final deletion checklist?
Use this checklist immediately before confirming:
- I am signed in to the correct POF account.
- I have canceled Apple, Google Play, or POF.com billing separately, or I know exactly when I will do so.
- I understand that deletion cannot be reversed.
- I have requested or saved any information I am entitled to keep.
- I have told important contacts how to reach me outside POF, if appropriate.
- I have read the final confirmation screen and selected the option that actually closes the account.
- I have kept cancellation or support reference numbers.
After submitting the request, avoid repeatedly creating replacement accounts to test whether deletion worked. A new account is separate and cannot recover the old profile.

When should I contact POF support?
Contact the official Help Center when the deletion control is unavailable on the correct device path, a confirmation page errors out, you cannot access the registered email, or a billing provider continues charging after you canceled. Use the registered account email for membership and billing questions because POF says that helps it verify the account.
Describe the device, whether you used the app or browser, the exact menu where the process stopped, and the date of any charge. Do not claim that support can bypass verification or reactivate a deleted account; POF’s own guidance says completed deletion is not reversible.
