If you are checking before that date, the chapter’s absence is expected; reinstalling the game or buying the DLC will not make it available early. If it is already release day or later, check account ownership and the add-on installation first, then verify PC game files or restore console licenses. For crashes, follow Behaviour Interactive’s general crash guidance: its August 28, 2026 notice described frequent crashes but did not identify Terrifier as their cause.
Why isn’t the Terrifier chapter appearing?
First check whether it has actually been released. Behaviour Interactive’s official Dead by Daylight chapter catalog lists Terrifier for November 24, 2026 as “Coming soon.” On October 30, 2026, that date is still in the future, so a missing in-game chapter is not evidence of a broken installation. The catalog describes chapters as downloadable content that can add Killers, Survivors and exclusive items. What should I check before troubleshooting?
Use the symptoms, date and platform to identify the likely failure layer. A chapter that is not yet released needs no repair; a released chapter missing from the game may involve ownership or installation; a game that closes unexpectedly may instead have a broader software or service issue.
- Before November 24, 2026: Terrifier is listed as coming soon. Wait for its release rather than reinstalling or repurchasing.
- On or after the listed release date: Confirm you are signed in to the account that owns the content, then check the platform’s add-on or DLC screen.

Could the DLC entitlement have changed?
Yes. Behaviour’s DLC-access guidance identifies several situations that can affect entitlement even when a player remembers having access. Make sure the account currently signed in is the one that purchased the content, and consider whether any of these changes apply:
- You relied on Family Sharing and the sharing arrangement changed, or the Family Sharing holder was banned.
- You bought the base game after previously borrowing access to it.
- You moved to another country or region.
- You are using a different console generation. Behaviour notes that PS4 and PS5 entitlements can differ.
A Family Sharing setup can make a chapter appear available on one profile and unavailable on another. If the owner’s account is no longer sharing, is signed out, or has been banned, the borrowed DLC may disappear even though the game itself still launches. Likewise, buying the base game later on a different account does not necessarily transfer DLC purchased or borrowed through the original account.
Country changes can also complicate store licensing. A move may leave the game installed while the store account, payment region and DLC entitlement no longer line up. Do not create a second purchase to test this; first sign in to the original purchasing account and check its order history.
Behaviour’s suggested remedies include reinstalling the DLC, setting the device as the primary console where that setting applies, and restoring licenses. Use the platform-specific checks below to refresh the add-on or license before moving on to a full game reinstall. A license refresh cannot grant content that was never purchased, but it can make an existing entitlement visible again.
How do I check the DLC on Xbox, PS4, or PS5?
Use the console’s own game-management or add-on area. The menus differ by platform, so follow the path for the console where the game and entitlement are being used. The account that bought the DLC should be signed in while you check.

Xbox details
In Ready to install, look for the Terrifier add-on rather than only checking the game’s tile. If it is listed, choose Install all or select the individual item. Wait for the installation queue to finish before launching Dead by Daylight. If the add-on is absent, verify that the purchasing profile is the active Xbox account and that the game is being launched from the same console profile. Sign out and back in after the download completes if the game still shows the content as unavailable.
PS4 details
Open the game’s store page and then Add-ons → My Add-ons. An owned item that is not installed should offer a download option. If the store shows ownership but Dead by Daylight does not, use Settings → PSN → Restore Licenses, restart the PS4 and check the add-on again. Restoring licenses is preferable to deleting the whole game because it targets the account’s permissions.
PS5 details

How do I verify Dead by Daylight’s files on PC?
File verification is a sensible early repair after an update fails or the installed game behaves unexpectedly. Behaviour says that verifying game files can occasionally remedy in-game issues; it is a troubleshooting step, not a guarantee. Verification compares the local installation with the store’s copy and replaces damaged or incomplete files without requiring a full manual uninstall. Use the route for the store or app where you installed Dead by Daylight.
Steam
- Open Library and right-click Dead by Daylight.
- Select Properties → Local Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files and allow the check to finish.
Do not interrupt the process by launching the game from another shortcut. When Steam reports that the check is complete, restart Steam if necessary and try Dead by Daylight again.
Epic Games Store

Microsoft Store or Xbox app on PC
- Open My Library and select Dead by Daylight.

After verification, launch the game again. If the issue remains, check system compatibility and updates before considering a full reinstall. Verification will not repair a missing entitlement, an unreleased chapter or a service-side outage, so keep the account and date checks in the sequence.
What should I do if Dead by Daylight crashes?

On console, begin with the add-on and license steps rather than applying PC driver advice. On every platform, check whether other players are reporting a broad outage before repeatedly reinstalling. The August 28 notice confirms that frequent crashes were known generally, but it does not establish a Terrifier-specific defect or promise an immediate fix.
These are official troubleshooting recommendations, not a promise that one particular step will resolve every crash. If the problem persists, send support the relevant logs and the details of the crash.
What should I send to Behaviour support?

For a Windows crash report, Behaviour requests the DeadByDaylight.log file. It is normally located at %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalDeadByDaylightSavedLogs. Attach the log when contacting support so the report includes diagnostic information rather than only a description of the symptom. Include your storefront (Steam, Epic or Microsoft Store/Xbox app), Windows version, whether verification completed, the approximate time of each crash and any visible error text.

For console cases, provide the console model, purchasing account context, region, whether the add-on appears in the platform’s owned list, and whether restoring licenses or signing out solved anything.
