The safest way to move a Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough to another supported platform or a newer release is CD PROJEKT RED’s account-based cross progression. Update both installations, connect them to the same CD PROJEKT RED account, create a new save after enabling cross progression, and wait for its cloud icon before closing the source game. On the destination, sign in through My Rewards and load that uploaded save.

- Mods: A modded save is only a safe candidate when the destination has the same compatible mod set. A missing or incompatible mod can prevent the save from loading correctly.
- Local backups: A copied save folder is an additional safety net, not a replacement for cross progression. It is especially useful before uninstalling a PC installation or changing hardware.

What should I check before moving a Cyberpunk 2077 save?
Spend a few minutes checking compatibility before you create the transfer save. Most failed migrations are caused by a stale build, a different account, missing downloadable content, a regional restriction, or a mod mismatch rather than by the save command itself.
Update both installations

Confirm the destination has the required content
A base-game save can load in the Ultimate Edition because that edition includes the base game and the required additional content. The reverse is not true: a save created with the Ultimate Edition cannot load in a destination installation that does not contain Phantom Liberty. Buying the Ultimate Edition does not itself upload, copy, or activate a save; you still have to perform the transfer.
Check the regional version
Regional restrictions can apply to console and other packaged versions. CD PROJEKT RED states that PC versions are not affected by regional restrictions, that PC-to-console loading is possible on versions without regional restrictions, and that a save from a restricted version may be limited to an equally or less restrictive version or to the same region. Check the source and destination SKU before assuming a cross-region move will work.
Decide what to do with mods
If the source is modded, list every enabled mod and verify that the destination supports the same versions. - Update the source copy. Launch Cyberpunk 2077 and install the latest patch shown on its main menu.
- Open the save list. From the main menu, choose Load Game. Select the Cross Progression control shown at the bottom of the screen.

Use the direct PS4-to-PS5 cloud method

Do not confuse a launcher’s local or platform-specific cloud storage with CD PROJEKT RED cross progression. The transfer described here depends on the in-game account connection and the cloud-marked save. If the Xbox save was created with Phantom Liberty, the PC destination must include that content as well.
How do I move a save to the Ultimate Edition?
