If a Cyberpunk 2077 quest marker, waypoint or objective is missing, start in the Journal: select the intended job and make sure it is tracked. Then check whether another quest is a prerequisite. Those two checks distinguish an untracked job or locked objective from a quest that has genuinely stopped progressing. If the quest is still blocked, update the game, try reversible trigger steps, verify the installation, and load a save from before the problem. Keep the current save for comparison. What exactly is missing?

How do I make a quest track again?
Use the Journal rather than changing files first. Update 2.0 added a Journal option to untrack quests and displays distance to quest markers there, so a job can be present without currently supplying the route you expect.
- Open the Journal.
- Find the intended main job, side job or gig.
- Select that job and confirm it is the active tracked entry, not merely an item in the completed or inactive list.
- Return to the map and check whether the route and marker now correspond to that job.
- If another job is selected, track the intended one again and note whether the route changes immediately or after loading a save.
Do not assume a map-filter switch is the cause on every platform. The documented cross-platform behavior is Journal tracking; a universal marker-filter control is not established.

Could another quest be blocking the objective?
Yes. CD PROJEKT RED’s technical-support guidance says that some quests require other quests to be completed first. A missing marker can therefore mean “not unlocked yet,” not a damaged save.
Check related jobs in the Journal
Read the current objective and inspect jobs involving the same character, fixer, location or storyline. If one is listed as a prerequisite, complete it before treating the absent marker as a bug. A job can also wait for a message, a level or a Street Cred threshold even when the later quest is already visible in promotional material or a guide.

- Clampdown: the Update 2.5 notes say this side quest requires The Heist, followed by two gigs for Wakako and then a message.
- Welcome to Paradise: the same notes list The Heist and level 15 Street Cred as requirements.
These are examples of unlock logic, not a rule that every missing quest marker has the same requirements. Use the Journal’s current text for the quest in your save.
What low-risk trigger steps should I try?
When the job is tracked and no prerequisite explains the problem, try reversible actions before relying on an old save. GOG’s quest-trigger guidance lists several possibilities; none is guaranteed for every quest.
- Update the game. Install the latest update available for your platform, then restart the game and check the Journal again.
- Leave the quest area. Travel away from the immediate objective zone, save, reload, and return. This can force a location or encounter to reload, but it is not a universal repair.
- Start or advance another quest. GOG lists triggering another quest as a possible way to refresh progression. Do not abandon the stalled job; simply use another available activity and then recheck it.
- Skip 24 in-game hours. Use the game’s time-skip function for 24 in-game hours, not 24 hours of real-world waiting. This is a suggested trigger attempt, not a success-rate claim.
- Repair the installation if you use GOG. Use the storefront’s repair or verify function, then restart the game. The exact menu wording can change with the launcher version.
- Check an earlier save. If the marker appears in a recent save from before the objective failed, preserve both saves and continue from that point only after confirming the difference.
Keep a copy of the current save before trying the earlier one. A trigger attempt can reveal whether the issue is temporary, but it cannot prove that the underlying quest state has been repaired.

How do I verify game files and test a pre-failure save?
For a quest that will not advance, CD PROJEKT RED recommends verifying the game files and loading a save made before the failure. Verification checks the installation; it does not necessarily rewrite a quest state already stored in a save.

Use the verification or repair command in the storefront that installed the game. The developer’s Mac support guidance identifies verification as available for Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store installations. Let the process finish, apply any replacement files, then launch the game and test the same objective.
Load the right kind of save
Choose a save created before the first sign of failure: before entering the area, speaking to the NPC or completing the action that should have advanced the objective. Keep the current save untouched so you can compare the two states and provide both to support if needed.

- Remove or disable the suspected mod and its dependent components as a group.
- Load a save made before the failure and reproduce the same objective.
- If the issue disappears, re-enable components one at a time, following each mod’s dependency requirements.
Update 2.5 introduced cross-platform in-game mod support, so “modded” does not automatically mean “PC only.” Do not use community console commands as though they were an official repair; they can change quest state and make later diagnosis harder.
What if the selected route keeps switching to a main quest?
A route that reverts to a main quest is different from a marker that never appears. One PS5 player reported after Update 2.5 that a selected gig or map destination sometimes switched back to a main-quest route, even without mods. That report is anecdotal, and the reviewed official notes do not identify a cause or a permanent remedy.
For this symptom, record the exact sequence: which job you selected, whether the Journal still shows it as tracked, whether the switch happens after opening the map, fast traveling, loading a save or entering a new area, and which platform and game version you use. Re-track the intended job once, but do not promise that re-tracking permanently fixes the switch. If it returns, preserve the affected save and include the sequence in a support request.
What did Update 2.5 actually fix?
CD PROJEKT RED dated the Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5) notes October 21, 2026 and announced rollout beginning October 22 on PC, Mac storefront versions, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store version to follow. The notes include a progression fix for Things Done Changed involving the Delamain cab.
That named fix should not be expanded into a claim that Update 2.5 generally repairs missing quest markers. The notes do not establish a universal missing-marker fix. Check the update version installed on your platform before comparing behavior, because rollout timing differs by platform and storefront.

Is an SSD, reinstall or third-party repair tool the answer?
No documented evidence connects those actions to a general missing-marker repair. Update 2.0’s PC SSD requirement concerns content streaming; the official notes do not present buying an SSD as a demonstrated solution for absent objectives. GOG specifically asks players reporting blocked progression to disclose mods, console commands and trainers. CD PROJEKT RED likewise recommends providing before-and-after saves when the problem persists. A reproducible sequence also gives mod authors enough information to investigate dependency conflicts.
Can a printed guide help me find the quest?
It can explain an unlock order, route or objective, but it cannot restore a missing marker or alter a save.
