For easier achievement tracking in Cult of the Lamb, change Steam rather than searching for an in-game console command. Turn on the Steam Overlay globally and for the game, leave Steam notification toasts enabled, launch from the Steam Library, and use Shift+Tab to check the overlay during a crusade. If you want a clean base-game 100% in 2026, opt into Steam Client Beta so Achievement Sets can show the base game separately from the Woolhaven DLC. Steam Cloud then carries your save between an authenticated desktop and Steam Deck account.
The overlay creates the unlock panel; the game does not draw those Steam achievement pop-ups itself. If the overlay or its toasts are disabled, an achievement can unlock silently even though Steam records it.

Which Steam settings should I change first?
Use this order: enable the overlay, enable it again in Cult of the Lamb’s own properties, keep notification toasts on, and restart the game. Those four changes provide visible unlocks without adding another application.
- Enable the global overlay. In the Steam desktop client, open Steam > Settings > In-game and turn on Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game.
- Enable the per-game overlay. Open Library, right-click Cult of the Lamb (Steam App ID 1313140), choose Properties, open General, and check the same overlay option. The per-game switch can override what you expect from the global setting, so check both.
- Keep achievement toasts enabled. Go to Steam > Settings > Notifications > Show Notification Toasts. Choose an option that shows toasts, such as Always or an in-game setting; do not select Never if you want the normal achievement panel.
- Restart the game. Close and relaunch Cult of the Lamb after changing either overlay switch. Steam hooks the overlay when the game starts, so changing the setting while it is already running may not take effect.
Steam’s overlay is supported through the graphics APIs used by modern Unity games, including DirectX, OpenGL, Metal and Vulkan. Valve describes the default shortcut as Shift+Tab; the shortcut can be changed in the same In-game settings page.

How do I see achievements while playing Cult of the Lamb?
Launch the game from the Steam Library, wait a few seconds after the title screen appears, and press Shift+Tab. The overlay can show Steam pages, guides, friends and chat while the game remains open. Press the shortcut again to close it.
- Start Cult of the Lamb with its Library Play button, not a shortcut that bypasses Steam.
- Enter a crusade or load your save, then press Shift+Tab.
- Open the achievement page through the overlay browser or use a community guide when you need to look up an objective.
- Close the overlay with Shift+Tab before continuing.
The overlay is the route for the corner unlock notification, not necessarily a documented live, locked-achievement checklist. Steam’s library achievement page is better for reviewing what is complete after a session. Whether opening the overlay pauses a single-player run is game-specific and has not been established for this title, so open it in a safe moment rather than during combat.
What if Shift+Tab conflicts with the game?
Change the shortcut instead of disabling the overlay. Open Steam > Settings > In-game, select the overlay shortcut field, press a new key combination, close Settings, and restart Cult of the Lamb. The game uses many modifier keys for combat and building, so choose a combination you will not press accidentally.
Why are achievement pop-ups missing?
There are two independent switches: the overlay must attach to the game, and Steam notification toasts must be allowed to display. Turning off either one can make an unlock appear silent.
Check the overlay path
- Confirm the global switch under Steam > Settings > In-game.
- Confirm Cult of the Lamb’s Properties > General switch.
- Make sure the game was started from Steam Library.
- Try the configured shortcut after waiting for the game to finish loading.
- Restart Steam and the game if the overlay still does not open.
Check notification toasts
Under Steam > Settings > Notifications > Show Notification Toasts, Never disables all Steam notification types. That includes achievements, friend and chat messages, and online-status notices; Steam does not provide a native switch that silences only chat while leaving achievement toasts on. If you use a third-party notifier, setting Steam to Never can prevent duplicate pop-ups, but it also mutes those other Steam notifications.

Resolve overlay interference
Valve’s overlay can close under heavy system load. Update your graphics driver, close competing recording or overlay utilities, and use Steam’s file check: right-click the game in Library, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. The overlay does not attach to software-rendered or browser games, but Cult of the Lamb is a Unity game distributed with Steam Achievements, so the normal Steam launch path is expected to work.

Opt into Steam Client Beta to use Achievement Sets. Steam introduced the feature in beta in October 2026, and Massive Monster has moved Woolhaven achievements into a separate set. That lets a PC player see base-game completion without the paid expansion blocking the base-game percentage.
- Open the Steam client and choose Steam > Settings > Interface.
- Find Steam Client Beta under beta participation and select the beta option.
- Allow Steam to restart and install the client update.
- Open the rebuilt achievements view from the game’s Library page or Steam’s Games List.
- Use the set and locked/unlocked filters to inspect the base-game set and the Woolhaven set independently.
Achievement Sets can represent a base game, DLC, mode or class. Each set has its own progress bar; base-game sets are shown in blue and DLC sets in purple when you own the add-on. DLC achievements do not count toward overall game progress until that DLC is owned. The page also supports global completion-rate statistics and comparison with up to three friends.
Steam says achievements are still unlocked by playing normally. A completed set can remain marked complete if a developer later adds achievements, while archived achievements that can no longer be earned do not block perfection for players who never unlocked them. The feature is still beta, so menu labels may move before general release.
What changed for Cult of the Lamb 100% players?
The official account announced on 20 October 2026 that Steam’s new separation allowed the studio to split DLC achievements from base-game achievements. The game’s Steam news described the same change for Woolhaven. Before the split, DLC trophies could make a base-game completion percentage look unfinished. With Sets enabled, a player who completed the original game can read that base set as complete without buying or finishing Woolhaven.

The current total number of Steam achievements is not stated here because later content changed the total and a live Steam Community table was unavailable. A 2024 community comment mentioning 48 Steam achievements predates later DLC and should not be used as a current count.
Can Steam Cloud help with achievement tracking?
Steam Cloud is enabled for Cult of the Lamb. It synchronizes save data when you use the same Steam account on a desktop and Steam Deck, so your hunting progress can follow a hardware change. Achievement records themselves are associated with the Steam account through Steamworks; Cloud is not a live achievement overlay and does not create pop-ups.
Before changing devices, let Steam finish its cloud synchronization and resolve any conflict prompt rather than launching an older local save. On Steam Deck, open the overlay with the Steam button instead of Shift+Tab. The game is listed as Steam Deck Verified. An external Bluetooth or USB controller may require a manual controller-slot change in the Quick Access Menu; there is no documented Deck-only achievement pane to rely on.
Are screenshots useful for achievement bookkeeping?
Steam can capture an unlock with F12, provided the overlay is enabled. Change the screenshot key under Steam > Settings > In-game. Steam Achievement Notifier
Steam Achievement Notifier offers Main, Rare (below 10% rarity) and 100% notification types, custom sound and position controls, unlock screenshots, stream notifications and an achievement statistics overlay. Its documentation recommends borderless display for DX9/10/11 because an always-on-top window may fail over exclusive fullscreen. DX12 non-exclusive fullscreen often works; Vulkan and OpenGL can require a borderless helper.

Achievement Watcher Next supports Windows 10/11 and Linux AppImage, uses no API keys, and can show a searchable overlay with rarity and hidden descriptions. Use its legitimate Steam-installed source; its documentation also discusses other source types that are outside normal Steam ownership and are not needed for Cult of the Lamb.
Install one notifier at most while troubleshooting. Running Steam toasts and a custom notifier together can produce duplicate alerts. If an external overlay does not appear, switch the game to borderless or windowed mode before assuming the achievement data is missing.

Which in-game settings make achievement hunting less stressful?
These are game settings, not Steam overlay controls. A long-running Steam Community guide reports no missable achievements and no achievements tied to difficulty, so lowering the difficulty does not block achievement progress according to that guide.

What is the most reliable setup for a 100% run?

Can I unlock Cult of the Lamb achievements offline?
