CRACK is not a new World of Goo or Angry Birds. It is a $7.99 Steam game (temporarily $6.79 until 2 November 2026) in which one to four players work shifts inside a laboratory, chip apart a building-sized egg, sell the fragments and buy better equipment. The shell and player-built scaffolding use real-time physics, but the main structure is a persistent co-op job with upgrades, a clock, workplace comedy and hidden endings.
Choose CRACK if you want a cheap co-op night with friends who enjoy incremental progression and mild horror. Choose World of Goo 2, Poly Bridge 3, Bridge Constructor Portal, Cut the Rope or Angry Birds 2 if you want self-contained levels in which the physics simulation is the puzzle itself.

Is CRACK a physics-puzzle game?
It uses physics, but it is not a traditional physics-puzzle game. PhyFun defines a physics-based game as one where the central challenge comes from a real-time simulation of forces such as gravity, friction, momentum, collisions, joints or fluids. In a conventional physics puzzler, each level gives you a goal, a limited interaction and a reset. CRACK instead gives you one persistent egg, a laboratory and an upgrade economy.

The egg shell is simulated rather than a button that subtracts hit points. As VGTimes reported after spending about six hours with a pre-release build, you must keep moving your aim to break off new fragments instead of clicking one spot until it disappears. Scaffolding adds a second physics system: poles, floors and supports can collapse when they lack a sound structure, and bolts loosen over time. Those systems create physical consequences inside a job-simulation loop; they do not form a sequence of authored logic puzzles.
That distinction explains the search confusion around “CRACK vs World of Goo.” World of Goo and Poly Bridge make mass, stress, tension and balance the entire problem. CRACK uses destruction and construction physics to make harvesting an egg more tactile while money, equipment, shift timing and secrets supply the long-term goals.
Where CRACK sits on the physics map
PhyFun’s 2026 library contains roughly 385 titles tagged Physics. Its useful buckets are projectile games, rope and constraint games, soft-body construction, bridge engineering and draw-to-solve experiments. Box2D, published by Erin Catto in 2007, helped establish the modern 2D vocabulary: Crayon Physics followed in 2007, World of Goo in 2008 and Angry Birds in 2009. CRACK belongs closer to destruction and stacking simulations than to those level-based lineages.
How does CRACK actually play?
The core routine is simple to understand and gradually more elaborate to perform: damage the egg, collect what falls out, sell it, replace worn tools and buy equipment that changes how the next shift works.
Break, collect and sell
You begin with a pickaxe and chisel. Fragments land in buckets, and selling them funds the next tier. Tools wear out, so replacement is a recurring operating cost rather than a one-time unlock. Rafoli describes the loop as “every crack earns money, every payout buys a better way to crack.” Later options include shovels, drills, jackhammers, dynamite, scaffolding, golf carts, collector bots and a robotics bay.
Work through changing layers
Coverage identifies a shell followed by tissue, calcite, bone and deeper material. The interior is deliberately unlike a chicken egg. VGTimes described parasites that must be rushed to a processor before they explode, turning transport and timing into hazards instead of simple inventory management.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Return before the shift ends
Each shift lasts a few real-time minutes. If you miss the walk back to your bunk, Hatch Corp charges a “complimentary” sedative. The lab AI comments on your work, and an end-of-day recap includes a camera time-lapse of the crew. Trailer signage makes the employment terms explicit: “PERSONNEL REMAINING ON THE FLOOR WILL BE PENALIZED” and, at the end, “YOU ARE REPLACEABLE.”

Manage an egg that reacts
A monitor tracks agitation. Concentrating hammer blows in one place fills the meter faster, while a limited sedation system can delay a reaction. Dot Esports counted seven possible events, from a power outage to spawned tentacles. The most agitated area can regrow unless you plant Support Spikes. VGTimes also reported positional aggression, several distinct scenes and at least one genuine jump scare in its preview build.
Build upward with unstable scaffolds
The laboratory floor reaches only the bottom of the egg, so deeper work requires a multi-level scaffold. The construction kit is straightforward, but support placement matters: unsupported poles and floors fall, and aging bolts eventually loosen. This is the part that most resembles a physical construction toy, although it remains in service of mining the same persistent object.
Share jobs and money in co-op
CRACK supports one to four players online. Wallets are separate, while a transfer device lets the crew pool money for major purchases. One player can crack while another hauls fragments, and proximity voice chat supports that division of labor. Named rooms, lab coats and keycards that greet players by name reinforce the workplace joke.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsLook for doors, codes and endings
Hidden doors, locked areas and a passcode door visible from the first day sit alongside the resource grind. The developer promises multiple endings. VGTimes found two in its preview, including one requiring non-obvious actions; that observation applies to the preview build, while “multiple endings” is the broader official claim. The egg is therefore more than a progress bar: it is also the source of the game’s mystery.
How much does CRACK cost, and what do friends need?
CRACK is sold as one Steam edition with no deluxe SKU or launch DLC. Every co-op participant needs an individual copy; there is no shared four-seat purchase. Four list-price copies total $31.96, while four copies during the introductory offer total about $27.16. The offer is scheduled to end on 2 November 2026, so treat that date as a deadline rather than a permanent price.
The game launched on 26 October 2026 for Windows, macOS and Linux through Steam. It is not listed for Epic or GOG. Steam features include single-player and online co-op, full support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers, achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. The accessibility flag is Playable at Your Own Pace, and Windows Mode reports a Reduce Camera Motion setting.
Interface and subtitle text is available in 16 languages; full audio is English only. The install is 3 GB. Steam user sentiment at the time of checking was Very Positive: 87% of 590 reviews were positive. That percentage and count are volatile, not a permanent score. Rafoli also claimed 120,000 wishlists in less than four weeks and more than 9 million impressions on public development posts; those are developer-reported figures, not Steam-published sales or player counts.

What changed after launch?
Steam news dated 28 October 2026 lists v1.1.0, titled “We Hear You,” followed by a larger update. The additions matter when deciding whether the original time pressure will suit you.
- Public lobbies: easier discovery beyond a pre-arranged friend group.
- Pocket slot: carry a second item instead of constantly returning to storage.
- Chill Mode: a more relaxed run for players who dislike strict shift pressure.
- Offline Mode: includes a real pause, addressing the earlier inability to stop during a run.
- Fixes: launch-week hotfixes addressed connection hangs and a softlock; current Steam patch notes should take priority over preview reports.
These changes reduce the strongest objections for solo or relaxed players, but they do not turn CRACK into a level-based puzzle campaign.
Who should buy CRACK?
Choose CRACK when
- You have two or three friends who want a cheap, silly co-op activity rather than a competitive game.
- You enjoy upgrade loops in which better tools visibly change the work.
- You like the workplace-comedy tone associated with co-op indies such as Lethal Company, R.E.P.O., PEAK, RV There Yet? and How to Fish, but want less emphasis on conventional horror.
- You enjoy searching for lore, locked rooms and alternate outcomes after the basic resource loop is familiar.
- Your computer is around the GTX 1050 Ti class and you prefer a small 3 GB installation.
Skip CRACK when
- Repeating the act of striking one egg sounds boring after the novelty fades.
- You want a large open world, a pure sandbox with no conclusion or a campaign made of dozens of unrelated environments.
- You only play offline and do not want a single-lab structure, even with the new Offline Mode.
- You want physics to be the complete puzzle, with a clear goal and reset after every attempt.
Dot Esports found that the resource grind could feel repetitive around six hours before laboratory secrets took over. VGTimes described steady early progress, a major jump when robots unlock and a thinner stretch afterward, with limited variety in how inner materials behave. Those observations come from pre-release play sessions, not an official completion-time estimate.
Which physics-puzzle game fits your taste?
World of Goo 2: choose it for authored construction and a story
World of Goo 2 is the closest answer when “physics puzzle” means building structures whose mass and center of mass determine success. It has five chapters and more than 60 levels; the mobile release added three extra levels and two hours of original music. New liquid, Jello, growing and explosive Goo species expand the construction vocabulary. The official 2D Boy description calls the original “an award winning a physics based puzzle / construction game.”

GameTarget reports a 90/100 Metacritic score for the original, while KQED notes two Independent Games Festival design awards in 2008. Buy this series for compact, authored puzzles and a satirical story, not for four-player teamwork.
Poly Bridge 3: choose it for engineering depth
Poly Bridge 3 offers more than 150 levels, sandbox construction and leaderboards. Budgets, material limits, suspension, hydraulics and jumps make each bridge an engineering problem, and Screenwise describes it as a stealth-learning game for concepts such as triangles and stress. The mobile pricing is free-to-try with a $4.99 Unlock All on iOS and $2.99 on Android.
Its open-ended solutions are the opposite of CRACK’s production line. You design, simulate, inspect failure and revise; there is no egg economy, shift clock or co-op wallet. Pick it when you want to spend an evening iterating on a bridge rather than coordinating a crew.

Bridge Constructor Portal combines structural engineering with Portal-style test chambers. It contains 60 chambers, includes GLaDOS voiced by Ellen McLain and costs $1.99 on both major mobile stores with no ads. GameTarget reports a 77/100 Metacritic score. The campaign is a focused one-shot: cheaper and more discrete than CRACK, but less open-ended than Poly Bridge 3.

Cut the Rope’s central question is how to cut ropes, trigger mechanisms and deliver candy while accounting for tension, timing and gravity. The current mobile build lists 425 levels across 17 boxes, with more than 100 million Google Play installs. It is free with ads, and iOS offers a $0.99 Disable Ads purchase. GameTarget reports a 93/100 Metacritic score for the original.
This is the better fit for a commute or five-minute session. It is solo and level-based, so there is no equivalent to CRACK’s shared hauling, equipment purchases or shift recap.
Angry Birds 2 and Royal Smash!: choose projectile puzzles
Projectile games reduce the interaction to angle, force and the resulting collision simulation. Angry Birds 2 is the established slingshot example, with more than 100 million Google Play installs, while Royal Smash! was ranked the number 19 free iPhone game in the United States on 26 October 2026 and had more than 10 million Google Play installs. Both are free with ads or in-app monetisation, and both are designed around mobile play rather than a persistent PC workplace.
Chart positions and seasonal events change quickly, so a dated ranking should not be treated as a lasting quality score. Pick this bucket when you want immediate attempts and fast resets, not a long-term co-op project.

Brain It On! and Dig This!: choose draw-to-solve experimentation
Brain It On! lets you draw shapes that become physical objects, encouraging improvised solutions instead of a fixed tool set. Its iOS Full Game is $3.99, and the Android version has more than 50 million installs. Dig This! also has more than 50 million Google Play installs and more than 10,000 levels built around digging gravity paths. These games are ideal when creativity and rapid experimentation matter more than story or multiplayer.

The choices use six criteria that separate a genuine CRACK alternative from a merely famous physics game:
- Physics role: whether forces and collisions are the puzzle, or a feature inside another loop.
- Session structure: persistent co-op shifts versus authored levels and quick resets.
- Player count: whether a solo reader or a friend group can use the recommendation.
- Progression: upgrades, campaign chapters, sandbox freedom or live-service events.
- Cost and access: one-time price, advertising, platform and whether every co-op player needs a copy.
- Reader intent: egg-breaking co-op, bridge engineering, soft-body construction, projectile play, rope constraints or draw-to-solve creativity.
Frequently asked questions
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to finish CRACK?
There is no official completion-time or all-endings estimate. The available play reports cover roughly six hours in pre-release builds, so they indicate pacing rather than a guaranteed campaign length.
How many endings does CRACK have?
The developer only promises multiple endings. A preview report found two, including one reached through non-obvious actions, but that is not confirmation that the launch version has exactly two.
Does CRACK support cross-platform multiplayer?
The launch listing supports online play across the Steam versions for Windows, macOS and Linux. No separate cross-platform service or console cross-play feature is stated.
Can I pause CRACK when playing alone?
The post-launch Offline Mode adds a real pause. That is different from the original timed-shift design, so players using an older build should update before assuming pausing is available.
Does CRACK have a critic score like World of Goo?
No verified Metacritic or OpenCritic aggregate was available for CRACK at the time covered here. Its 87% positive Steam figure is user-review sentiment and will change as more reviews arrive.
