Difficulty is adjustable, but it is not simply a single easy/normal/hard switch. Steam lists adjustable difficulty, and VGC describes individual modifiers affecting damage dealt, damage received, experience gain, potion capacity, boss-door respawns, and a “prevent death” option. These settings let you target the part of the game that is getting in the way.
Which modifiers should I change?
- If boss attempts are exhausting because of the return trip: enable boss-door respawns.
- If healing supplies are the problem: raise potion capacity.
- If combat damage is the obstacle: adjust damage received or damage dealt.
- If progression feels too slow: adjust experience gain.
- If dying repeatedly makes progress stressful: consider the prevent-death option.
Leave the defaults in place if you want the intended old-school challenge. If you have limited play time, are new to action-platformers, or need a more accessible combat loop, modify only the settings causing trouble; changing several at once can substantially alter the experience.
Will Belmont’s Curse run well on Steam Deck?
Steam lists Windows 11, an Intel Core i5-8400, 16 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1650, DirectX 11, and 10 GB of available storage as the PC minimum requirements. The Steam listing also includes full controller support and Steam Cloud. These are PC requirements, not a published Steam Deck performance certification.
KONAMI’s known-issues notice listed a Steam Deck presentation problem in which some user-interface elements could appear partly off-screen, and said it was under investigation. No later resolution is established in the available official notices, so Deck owners should not assume that issue has been fixed. This is a specific UI caveat; it does not establish that the whole game is unplayable on the device.

What should Xbox players know about switching saves?
KONAMI reported a save-switching problem between Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. The October 21, 2026 known-issues notice warned that save data might not load correctly when switching between those versions; KONAMI marked the issue fixed in its October 22 update notice.
Update both Xbox versions before switching between them. If an existing save seems missing, follow the caution in KONAMI’s earlier notice: do not create a new save before checking for the original, because a new save could overwrite it. The fix is dated, so this is a precaution for the documented issue rather than a claim that the problem remains current after updating.
What is the difference between Standard and Midnight Edition?
Standard is the base game. Midnight Edition includes the game plus additional digital content, and KONAMI lists it in both physical and digital formats.
