Buy the official Switch, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One collections. Switch editions run on Nintendo Switch and are listed as compatible with Nintendo Switch 2; PS4 editions run on PS5 through backward compatibility; Xbox One editions run on Xbox Series X|S. Native current-generation releases remain unusual: Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, released 27 March 2026, is the notable Mega Man collection with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.
For NES and SNES-era home games, start with Mega Man Legacy Collection and Mega Man Legacy Collection 2. For classic Street Fighter, you need more than one package: the 30th Anniversary set is the one that includes Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, while the newer Fighting Collections add rollback netcode and different rosters. A Korean rating filing for 29 Capcom games on 27 October 2026 has not been announced as a product, so it is not proof that a new PS5 compilation exists.

- Mega Man Legacy Collection and Collection 2: the cleanest way to get Mega Man 1–10 on current consoles, covering NES, SNES, PlayStation and downloadable-era releases.
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection: choose this when Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike or the historical Street Fighter II line is essential.
- Capcom Fighting Collection 2: the current eight-game set for Capcom vs. SNK, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Project Justice, Power Stone and related arcade fighters. Capcom’s US suggested price is $39.99, checked Oct 2026; physical editions are sold for Switch and PS4.

How does each modern console run Capcom’s collections?
Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2
Switch has the broadest single-platform selection of Capcom’s current retro compilations. The Switch versions of both Mega Man Legacy lines, Mega Man X Legacy Collections, Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, both Capcom Fighting Collections, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection and both Arcade Stadium volumes are available.
Nintendo’s store listing for Capcom Fighting Collection 2 marks it “Supported – Game behavior is consistent with Nintendo Switch” on Switch 2. That indicates compatibility with the newer hardware rather than a separate native Switch 2 edition. No official Nintendo Classics or Switch Online catalogue page was identified that lists Capcom’s first-party NES Mega Man or Super NES Breath of Fire releases; Capcom sells these titles through paid collections instead.

Most retro compilations are PS4 products. A PS4 copy of Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, either Fighting Collection, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection or a Mega Man Legacy set runs on PS5 through backward compatibility. Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection has no native PS5 SKU; its PS4 version is the documented PS5 route.
Capcom’s 2026 product index does list some native PS5 classic releases: Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection (27 March), the original Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 Nemesis (2 April), Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams (18 August), and Mega Man X: Command Mission (15 September). These individual releases do not replace the numbered Mega Man or SNES collections. Inserting original PlayStation or PlayStation 2 discs is not the documented PS5 method; current guidance is centered on PS4 backward compatibility and native re-releases.
Xbox Series X|S
Xbox One versions of the Legacy Collections, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Capcom Fighting Collection, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection run on Series X|S through backward compatibility. Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection is the exceptional Mega Man set with an Xbox Series X|S SKU as well as Xbox One.
Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection was released for Switch, PS4 and PC but not Xbox. That omission is important if Xbox is your only console. A 2026 boxed edition of Capcom Arcade Stadium Vol. 1 was announced for PS4, Switch and Xbox Series X|S, while the original digital release remains an Xbox One product compatible with Series consoles.

How do I play the home-console Mega Man games?
Use the Legacy Collection line rather than Arcade Stadium. These are the packages that preserve the home versions and their series-specific extras.
Mega Man Legacy Collection
The first collection contains the six NES games, Mega Man through Mega Man 6. It offers Japanese Rockman or international Mega Man versions, a Museum, Challenges and, on Switch, rewind. Platforms are Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Windows, with an earlier 3DS edition. Capcom reported 1.7 million copies sold as of 30 September 2025, making it the second-best-selling Mega Man game in that accounting.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 2
Volume 2 contains Mega Man 7 (SNES), Mega Man 8 (PlayStation), and Mega Man 9 and Mega Man 10, including their original downloadable content. It follows the same Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Windows pattern. Capcom reported more than one million copies sold as of 30 September 2025.
The X, Zero, ZX and Battle Network lines
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection: X1 through X4 (2018).
- Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2: X5 through X8 (2018).
- Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection: four Game Boy Advance Zero games and both ZX titles (2020), with a casual difficulty mode.

Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection
Released 27 March 2026, this set contains the DS trilogy and all version variants, seven games in total. It is available on Switch, PS4, PS5, Windows, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, making it the first Mega Man Legacy Collection with native PS5 and Series SKUs.
The collection adapts the DS dual-screen layout to one display and adds auto-save, encounter-rate controls, damage and defense multipliers, online card trading and battles without cross-platform play, plus new English and Japanese voice-overs. Those additions make it more accessible, but they do not turn the older Legacy Collections into native current-generation releases.
What is the best way to play classic Street Fighter and other fighters?
Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection
This is still the essential purchase for the Street Fighter II family through Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. It is available on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam. Community recommendations often pair it with the newer Fighting Collections: the 30th Anniversary set covers Street Fighter III, while the later packages provide broader rollback-enabled online features but omit Street Fighter III.

Capcom Fighting Collection
The 24 June 2022 collection contains ten games, including the Darkstalkers series, Red Earth (also known as Warzard), Hyper Street Fighter II, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. It supports rollback netcode, training and museum features on Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics
The digital release arrived 12 September 2024 on Switch, PS4 and Windows; Xbox One followed 4 February 2025, and physical Switch and PS4 editions followed 22 November 2024. The seven games are The Punisher, X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes and Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2
Launched 16 May 2025 for Switch, PS4, Xbox One and Steam, this eight-game set contains Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Project Justice, Power Stone, Power Stone 2 and Plasma Sword: Nightmare of Bilstein.
Features include rollback, training with hitboxes on 2D games, one-button specials, quick-save in arcade mode, display filters, higher internal resolution for 3D games, a museum with more than 700 artworks and over 300 tracks, and optional “Ver. 2K25” arranged music for three games. An August 2025 update added Alpha 3 MAX characters Ingrid, Maki, Yun and Eagle for offline play. Online matchmaking is platform-specific: Capcom’s Steam FAQ says players can only play online with others on the same platform. A digital bundle combines Fighting Collection 1 and 2 for 18 games.
Are Capcom Arcade Stadium games the NES and SNES versions?
No. Arcade Stadium and Arcade 2nd Stadium preserve coin-operated arcade ROMs, not the home-console conversions. That distinction matters for games with different level layouts, difficulty, controls or content on NES, SNES or Mega Drive.

Capcom Arcade Stadium launched on Switch on 17 February 2021 and on PS4, Xbox One and Windows on 25 May 2021. It contains 32 arcade titles from 1984–2001 and uses a free host application with packs or individual purchases. Rewind, save states, speed control and CRT-style filters are built in. Capcom reported 1.8 million units sold as of December 2023.
Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium followed on 22 July 2022 with another 32 games, including the Street Fighter Alpha trilogy, Knights of the Round, Magic Sword, Saturday Night Slam Masters and the Mega Man arcade games The Power Battle and The Power Fighters. Capcom reported 1.2 million units sold as of December 2023.
Limited Run opened pre-orders from 9 January through 8 February 2026 for a physical Arcade Stadium Vol. 1 edition on Switch, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S. The announced MSRP was $59.99 and the package included five collectible covers and an eight-page booklet. That was a limited physical route, not evidence of permanent retail availability.
How do I buy and run a collection on my console?
- Identify the version you need. Choose a Legacy Collection for home-console games, a Fighting Collection for competitive arcade fighters, or Arcade Stadium for coin-op ROMs. Check the platform line before buying: a PS4 listing is the normal PS5 path, and an Xbox One listing is the normal Series path.
- Choose digital or physical. Fighting Collection 2 has digital and physical editions, with physical copies on Switch and PS4. Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection also has physical Switch and PS4 editions. Availability of a boxed Arcade Stadium edition is tied to the 2026 limited pre-order window.
- Install the base software and updates. Download the collection from your console library or insert the game card/disc, then allow the system to install updates before entering online modes.
- Select the correct game inside the launcher. Collections present individual titles in a menu. Use the Museum, game manuals and version labels to confirm whether you selected an arcade, Japanese or international release.
- Set accessibility and preservation options. Turn on rewind, save states, filters, speed controls or casual difficulty where offered. Fighting Collections also expose training tools and rollback-enabled online modes.
- Check online limits. Matchmaking is generally limited to the same platform in Fighting Collection 2; native cross-play is not provided. Arcade Stadium is primarily a local and single-player experience.
What does the 29-game Korean rating mean?
South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee rated 29 Capcom titles on 27 October 2026. The filing is a classification decision, not a Capcom launch announcement. It does not establish a collection name, PS5 SKU, price, release date, packaging, download model or Korean retail release.

The excitement comes from console-focused games that remain difficult to buy in modern collections, including both Breath of Fire games, Demon’s Crest, Mighty Final Fight, Mega Man Soccer, Final Fight 2, Final Fight 3, Gargoyle’s Quest II, Destiny of an Emperor and Street Fighter 2010.
Can I play the games that are still missing?
Capcom Town in a browser
Capcom Town offers browser versions of overlapping home-console titles, including Mega Man, Mega Man 4, Mega Man X, Mega Man Soccer, Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire II, Street Fighter II and Final Fight. Capcom Town stated that its full classic lineup would be temporarily unlocked until 1:00 p.m. JST on 2 November 2026. This is a web service and not a PS5, Xbox or Switch purchase; the unlock date is subject to change.

Individual 2026 re-releases
If you want a specific later-era title rather than a compilation, Capcom’s 2026 index lists Mega Man X: Command Mission for PS5 and PS4 on 15 September, alongside the native-current-generation releases listed earlier. These do not provide the missing NES, SNES or Mega Drive catalog.
Known gaps
Modern collections still do not provide a complete Breath of Fire line. Mega Man & Bass remains a commonly requested omission, and Final Fight 2 and Final Fight 3 have been especially notable gaps for Xbox players. Dino Crisis is frequently requested; Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams did receive a PS4/PS5 release in 2026. Capcom vs. SNK: SVC Chaos is an SNK-side HD port rather than part of a Capcom Fighting Collection.

These tools change the practical experience without changing the underlying game. Rewind and save states make difficult arcade or NES sections less punishing; rollback reduces delay in supported fighting games; filters and museum material preserve context that was absent from original cartridges and discs.
Why is a new PS5 collection still uncertain?
Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto said the company wants classic games available on modern consoles and that both fans and developers want more legacy fighting games re-released. He also said Capcom wants to make a new Versus series title. Those comments explain why more collections are plausible, but they are not announcements of a specific 29-game console package.
For October 2026 buyers, the dependable route is therefore the released catalog: buy the PS4 or Xbox One compilation that contains the game you want, use Switch editions when portability matters, and choose Star Force Legacy Collection when a native PS5 or Series SKU is a deciding factor. Treat the Korean rating as a signal to watch, not as a product you can pre-order or install.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use original Capcom PlayStation or PlayStation 2 discs in a PS5?
That is not the documented compatibility route. Sony’s current Capcom guidance centers on PS4 versions running through PS5 backward compatibility and on separately published native PS5 releases, so an original disc should not be assumed to work.
Does Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection work on Xbox Series X|S?
No Xbox edition was released. The collection is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PC, so an Xbox owner needs another platform for the ten-game Battle Network package.
Are Capcom Fighting Collection matches cross-play between Switch, PlayStation and Xbox?
Capcom’s Fighting Collection 2 FAQ says online play is limited to people on the same platform. A player on Switch therefore cannot enter the same online matchmaking pool as a PS4, Xbox One or Steam player.
Is Capcom Town a free replacement for owning these collections?
It is a browser service with a changing availability window, not a console license. It can provide temporary access to selected home-console versions, but it does not install games on PS5, Xbox or Switch and should not be treated as permanent ownership.
