Capcom’s Steam listing gives two profiles. Both require Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB of system memory, DirectX 12, an SSD and 50 GB of available storage. The difference is the processor and graphics tier associated with each performance target.

The minimum line is not a promise of 30 FPS at native 1080p. Capcom explicitly describes the result as 1080p gameplay using a Super Resolution mode, so rendering internally below 1080p and reconstructing the image is part of the stated target. The recommended line likewise assumes upscaling.

What the storage and memory requirements mean
The listing specifies 50 GB of available space and an SSD for both profiles. The figure is free capacity needed for the installation, not a statement that every future patch will fit without additional working space. Keep extra room available for the operating system, shader caches and updates rather than filling the drive to its last gigabyte.
Sixteen gigabytes of RAM is the published floor as well as the recommendation. Systems below that amount are outside Capcom’s supported configurations; adding memory can prevent operating-system and background-app pressure, but it does not substitute for the required graphics capability.

Compare your exact CPU, GPU, memory, Windows edition and drive type with the table, then treat the GPU tier as the most important first check. A desktop GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT is the minimum class Capcom names for 1080p Low at 30 FPS. An RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600 is the recommended class for 1080p Medium at 60 FPS.

What settings should I use for a stable 30 FPS?
Use the Low preset at 1920×1080 with Super Resolution enabled. This is the closest match to Capcom’s minimum profile and gives the graphics workload the most headroom.
- Set the display resolution to 1920×1080.
- Select the Low graphics preset.
- Enable a supported upscaler, starting with DLSS on compatible GeForce hardware or FSR on supported Radeon and other compatible GPUs.
- Cap the frame rate at 30 FPS if uncapped output fluctuates; a firm cap avoids chasing short peaks that the system cannot sustain.

If traversal hitching remains, independent tuning guidance recommends lowering mesh quality first. Volumetric fog at Medium is another sensible compromise when the Low preset looks unnecessarily flat. These are practical recommendations from independent testing, not Capcom-certified universal fixes.

What settings should I use for 60 FPS?
Start with the Medium preset at 1080p and enable Super Resolution. That combination matches Capcom’s recommended 60 FPS profile, but the target can still fall during exceptionally demanding scenes.
- Select 1920×1080 and the Medium preset.
- Choose DLSS or FSR rather than the built-in TAAU when the selected mode produces a cleaner or faster image on your GPU.
- Set a 60 FPS cap after confirming that the benchmark can remain near that level. If it cannot, cap to the highest value that stays stable instead of allowing wide swings.
- Disable or reduce ray tracing if the frame rate is limited. An independent guide describes the ray-tracing effects as reflection-focused and reports roughly a 12–15 percent cost in its cited testing; the exact impact varies by GPU and scene.
- Reduce mesh quality if movement through the environment produces traversal hitches.
Frame generation can raise the displayed frame count, but it should not be treated as a substitute for a strong base frame rate. If enabling it causes crashes, visual errors or inconsistent input response, turn it off and keep a conventional frame-rate cap.
Does Onimusha: Way of the Sword support DLSS, FSR and frame generation?
Capcom’s Steam listing identifies NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 3.1 as the Super Resolution paths used for its estimates; the listing says those estimates were made with DLSS 4.0 and FSR 3.1. An independent feature inventory additionally reports DLSS 4.5, DLAA, NVIDIA Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation, plus AMD FSR modes with frame generation.
Support depends on the GPU generation and can change with game updates. The same independent inventory reports no Intel XeSS option. Use the modes actually shown in your installed build rather than assuming that every feature is available on every card.
For image quality, compare DLSS and FSR at the same output resolution and preset. For responsiveness, keep a conventional cap and disable frame generation if the added processing makes controls feel inconsistent. There is no single mode that is guaranteed to look or perform best on every GPU.
What performance can higher-end PCs expect?
Published results show how wide the range can be, but they are not universal guarantees. PC Gamer reported frequent 120 FPS performance on a Radeon RX 9070 XT paired with an Intel Core i5-13600K, using high settings and AMD FSR4 Quality, with brief hitches during loading or transitions between cutscenes. That is one publication’s result on one system.

An independent Onimusha Guide benchmark, run on a Ryzen 9 7950X3D platform, recorded more than 60 FPS for every tested GPU at 1080p maximum settings; its RTX 2080 Ti averaged 78 FPS and its RTX 5090 exceeded 220 FPS. At 1440p, an RX 6900 XT averaged 68 FPS with dips below 50. The guide notes that these figures came from demo or benchmark runs and may not represent a patched retail build.
Those numbers illustrate why a GPU name is not a guarantee. Resolution, upscaler quality, ray tracing, drivers, CPU limits and game patches all change the result. Use the figures as context, then measure your own configuration with the free benchmark.
Is 1440p or 4K officially supported?
Capcom publishes targets for 1080p only: Low at 30 FPS and Medium at 60 FPS, both with upscaling. It does not provide a universal 1440p or 4K target in the listed requirements.
Higher resolutions are possible on faster systems, but treat them as personal tuning goals. Increase output resolution only after establishing a stable 1080p baseline, and expect to revisit ray tracing, volumetric effects, upscaler quality and frame caps. The independent 1440p results above show that even a powerful card can dip below its average in demanding scenes.
Can I play it on Steam Deck or a laptop?
Steam Deck is playable according to independent testing, but a locked 30 FPS is a more realistic objective than 60 FPS. PC Gamer described a stubborn 30–40 FPS experience with dips into the 30s during heavy action and recommended locking the game to 30 FPS for consistency. The independent guide similarly recommends Low settings and careful upscaling, particularly in combat and the Kyoto hub.
Capcom does not guarantee normal operation on onboard graphics or devices that share video memory with system RAM. It also excludes mobile GPUs, external GPUs and pre-release Windows builds from its guarantee. A laptop with a discrete GPU can still work well, but identify the exact GPU, connect the correct power supply, use the high-performance GPU and validate with the benchmark rather than relying on a desktop model comparison.

How do I use the benchmark before buying or changing settings?
Capcom’s free Steam benchmark is the most practical way to validate a specific PC. Run it once at the default configuration, record the result and then change one setting at a time.
- Install the benchmark or demo supplied through Steam and close unnecessary background programs.
- Run the default test and note the average, lows and any visible hitching.
- Apply the 30 FPS Low profile or the 60 FPS Medium profile that matches your goal.
- Change one variable—upscaler mode, ray tracing, mesh quality or fog—then rerun the same test.
- Keep the setting only if it improves the result without introducing distracting artifacts or instability.
Some published performance figures were collected from the demo or benchmark rather than a fully patched retail release. Label those results accordingly when comparing them with your own run.

Follow Capcom’s Windows troubleshooting sequence in order. It starts with compatibility checks and ends with configuration changes, so you avoid chasing graphics tweaks before ruling out system-level causes.
- Confirm that Windows 11 64-bit, 16 GB of RAM, DirectX 12, an SSD and the listed CPU/GPU class are present.
- Add the game executable, installation folder and required files to antivirus or firewall exclusions if launch failures or unexplained frame drops suggest a false positive.
- Run the Xbox app or game with administrator privileges where applicable.

Should I upgrade storage, RAM or the graphics card?
Prioritize the component that fails the published requirement. An SSD with at least 50 GB free is mandatory in Capcom’s listing, and 16 GB of RAM is specified for both profiles. Verify your motherboard or laptop’s interface and memory compatibility before buying a drive or kit.

For the 60 FPS Medium target, the RTX 2060 Super/RX 6600 class is the published baseline. Buy hardware for the target you actually want: a 30 FPS Low configuration needs less graphics headroom than 60 FPS Medium, while 1440p, ray tracing or high-quality upscaling requires more. Keep the benchmark as the final decision check.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Onimusha: Way of the Sword run on Windows 10?
Windows 10 is not listed in Capcom’s published profiles; both specify 64-bit Windows 11. Because Capcom does not guarantee configurations outside the official requirements, a Windows 10 installation should be treated as unsupported rather than assumed compatible.
What does the 50 GB requirement refer to?
It is the available storage space specified by the Steam listing for installation, and Capcom requires that the storage device be an SSD.
