Yes, Dispatch should run on a modest Windows PC: Steam lists a GTX 960 or Radeon RX 560, an Intel Core i5-6402P or Ryzen 5 1600, and DirectX 11 as minimum requirements. For the recommended tier, Steam lists a GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 580, an i5-7400 or Ryzen 5 2600, and 16 GB of RAM. The most useful performance adjustment is usually not a newer graphics card: Dispatch’s PC version is capped at 62 FPS, which can make cinematic pans judder against a 60 Hz display. Matching VSync to 60 Hz and capping the game at 60 FPS can help.

These are Windows requirements from the Steam listing, current as of October 2026. They are compatibility guidance, not a promise of a particular frame rate; AdHoc Studio has not published official FPS results by resolution or graphics preset.

What are the minimum and recommended system requirements for Dispatch?

Steam lists the following specifications for the Windows PC version. The operating system, DirectX version, and storage figure are the same in both tiers; the recommended tier calls for substantially more system memory.

Component Minimum Recommended
Operating system Windows 10 (64-bit) or later Windows 10 (64-bit) or later
Processor Intel Core i5-6402P or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 or higher Intel Core i5-7400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 or higher
Memory 2 GB RAM 16 GB RAM
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 560 NVIDIA GTX 1050 or AMD Radeon RX 580
DirectX Version 11 Version 11
Available storage 15 GB 15 GB
Sound DirectX-compatible sound card DirectX-compatible sound card

These specifications are from AdHoc Studio’s Steam listing, checked October 2026. They do not specify a target resolution, graphics preset, or guaranteed FPS. In particular, there is no official AdHoc table establishing performance at 1080p, 1440p, or 4K.

Why 16 GB of RAM is the practical target

Steam’s stated minimum is 2 GB, but its recommended specification is 16 GB. Treat 16 GB as the more useful target for a Windows PC: the operating system and common background apps use memory too, leaving little room for a modern game on a 2 GB system. The 2 GB figure is listed by Steam; there is no official statement that it is a typo, so it should not be silently changed or treated as a realistic smooth-play recommendation.

How to interpret the graphics-card tiers

The minimum GTX 960 and recommended GTX 1050 are not a large step between tiers, and the list mixes graphics-card generations. The AMD pairing makes the progression clearer: RX 560 at minimum and RX 580 recommended. The names on Steam’s recommended line are requirements, not a reason to buy those older models specifically. A PC that meets the minimum may run the game, but available system memory, laptop power settings, display sync, and background overlays can also affect smoothness.

How much storage does Dispatch need?

Steam lists 15 GB of available space for both minimum and recommended systems. PCGamingWiki lists 25 GB, so published listings conflict; for the official Steam requirement, use Steam’s 15 GB figure. Leave additional free space beyond that minimum for installation overhead, updates, and temporary installer files.

An HDD is not excluded by Steam’s requirements. An SSD is a reasonable choice if one is available, particularly for installation and level-loading convenience, but the stated requirements do not say that an SSD is necessary or that it increases the game’s frame rate.

Why does Dispatch judder, and how can I smooth it out?

The distinctive PC issue is the game’s 62 FPS cap. PCGamingWiki reports that the cap can cause noticeable judder, especially in panning shots, when it conflicts with a display or VSync running at 60 Hz. The practical aim is to make the display synchronization and frame cap agree at 60 FPS.

  1. Start with the game’s VSync setting. In Dispatch, open Settings > Display and leave VSync enabled. iTechGuides, relaying developer troubleshooting guidance, says the game enables VSync automatically; if you switched it off and see tearing, restore it here.
  2. Match synchronization to 60 Hz if pans still judder. In your graphics driver’s control panel, add the Dispatch executable from the game’s DispatchBinariesWin64 folder and enable driver-level VSync. On a 120 Hz display, use half-refresh-rate VSync so synchronization lands at 60 FPS, as PCGamingWiki recommends.
  3. Set a 60 FPS cap. PCGamingWiki identifies RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS), using its “front edge sync” mode, as a workaround. Keep the cap at 60 FPS rather than trying to raise it: the PC version is capped at 62 FPS and does not support 120-plus FPS.
  4. Check the result in a cinematic pan. If the image still tears or stutters, temporarily disable one overlay at a time, then check again. This helps identify whether a background overlay is contributing rather than changing several settings at once.

On a variable-refresh-rate (VRR) display, PCGamingWiki also notes that a 60 FPS cap without VSync is an alternative. VRR behavior varies by display, and this approach can produce flicker, so treat it as an option to compare with matched VSync rather than a universal fix.

What settings should I use for smoother performance?

For a PC around Steam’s recommended tier, start with the game’s native 16:9 resolution, VSync on, and the 60 FPS synchronization approach above if cinematic pans judder. Dispatch is a 2D, comic-book-style game made with Unreal Engine 4.27.2 and Direct3D 11, rather than a demanding 3D action title. Technical.city rates its hardware demand 2.3 out of 10 (“lightly demanding”), but that rating is not a measured FPS result.

Resolution, aspect ratio, and display modes

  • Resolution: Use your display’s native resolution for a clear image. 4K is listed as supported, but the 62 FPS cap still applies; choosing 4K is a clarity and GPU-load decision, not a way to unlock a higher frame rate.
  • Aspect ratio: The PC presentation is 16:9. Ultra-wide displays show the game pillarboxed in 16:9 rather than expanding the field of view. PCGamingWiki lists no adjustable FOV or multi-monitor support.
  • Window mode: Windowed mode can be toggled in the menu or with Alt+Enter; borderless fullscreen is also listed.
  • Advanced graphics features: The PC feature listing does not include native HDR, ray tracing, DLSS, FSR, XeSS, or frame generation. Do not look for an in-game upscaling toggle that is not there. Anisotropic filtering is set to 8x through engine variables and is of little consequence for the game’s largely 2D presentation.

There is no confirmed list of Low, Medium, High, or Ultra preset names in the available PC feature notes. Unreal Engine scalability variables can be edited manually, but that is an advanced configuration route, not the first step for ordinary stuttering. Avoid changing configuration files until simpler display and overlay checks are exhausted.

Settings unrelated to frame rate

The game includes color-blind options for deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia, with an intensity slider. Audio has separate controls for Global, Cinematic Music, Shift Music, SFX, and Voice Over, plus stereo output. “Pause on Lost Focus” is on by default, and a “Replace Licenced Music” toggle is available. Subtitles can be enabled; if investigating crashes, see the subtitle-animation check below.

What should I try if Dispatch stutters, tears, or crashes?

Use a short troubleshooting sequence: update the graphics driver, confirm VSync, isolate overlays, and then check for a crash-specific subtitle issue. The developer-facing troubleshooting advice is reported second-hand by iTechGuides, rather than as a published AdHoc performance benchmark.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Update the graphics driver. Install the current driver for your NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel graphics hardware using the manufacturer’s driver tools, then restart if prompted. This is the first troubleshooting step iTechGuides attributes to developer guidance.
  2. Restore in-game VSync. Open Settings > Display and turn VSync back on if it was disabled. For persistent 60 Hz judder, use the matched 60 FPS setup described above.
  3. Disable overlays one by one. Close the Steam, Discord, and GeForce overlays individually and retest after each change. iTechGuides says developer guidance identifies overlays as a possible contributor to stuttering, screen tearing, or black-frame problems.
  4. If the game crashes, disable subtitle animation. iTechGuides reports that subtitle animation can contribute to memory leaks. Temporarily turning off subtitle animation is a diagnostic step; it is not a general graphics-performance setting.
  5. On a laptop, connect power. Select Windows’ best-performance or performance power mode while playing. A laptop meeting the named GPU tier can still behave differently when running on battery or under a restricted power profile.
  6. Back up before editing files. Dispatch configuration files are in %LOCALAPPDATA%DispatchConfigWindowsNoEditor; saves are in %LOCALAPPDATA%DispatchSavedSaveGames. Copy the save folder somewhere safe before replacing files or moving progress, especially when transferring from the demo to the full game. Steam Cloud is supported, but a separate backup gives you a local recovery copy.

If the problem continues, contact AdHoc Studio support at [email protected] or use the studio’s Discord linked from Steam. Include your Windows version, CPU and GPU models, RAM, display refresh rate, and the point at which the problem occurs; those details help distinguish a sync issue from a launch or crash problem.

Can a low-end laptop run Dispatch?

Possibly, if its graphics hardware and processor are at or above Steam’s minimum tier, but laptop model names and power limits can make a desktop-equivalent comparison imperfect. Prioritize checking the GPU class, plug the laptop into power, and use the display’s native 16:9 resolution; if the panel is 60 Hz, the 60 FPS cap can also avoid the 62 FPS mismatch.

Steam’s 16 GB recommended RAM figure is a practical target, particularly if other apps are open. If the laptop is below the minimum GPU tier, lowering resolution can reduce graphics load, but there is no official benchmark showing how much performance a particular resolution change will recover. The game is not a reason to purchase a high-end graphics card solely for Dispatch; the listed requirements are modest by current PC gaming standards.

Does Dispatch run on Steam Deck or other platforms?

Valve marks Dispatch Verified for Steam Deck. A Steam Deck verification summary reported by pcgame.com says the default graphics settings perform well, the default controller configuration provides access to all functionality, Deck controller icons appear, and in-game text is legible. The same summary says external controllers are not supported for the primary player on Deck.

The researched official PC requirements cover Windows; no official macOS or native Linux requirements table was found. Steam Deck verification is useful for that handheld specifically, but it is not a general compatibility guarantee for other Linux PCs.

Dispatch is also available beyond Windows: it launched on PlayStation 5 in October 2025, with episodes released weekly through November 12, 2025. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions arrived January 28, 2026; the Switch version is listed at 720p/30 FPS and the Switch 2 Edition at 1440p/60 FPS. Xbox Series X/S followed on July 29, 2026, and a cloud version is listed for Amazon Luna. The Windows version’s own frame cap is 62 FPS, so the Switch frame-rate figure should not be mistaken for the PC target.

Which controls and display options are available on PC?

Dispatch supports keyboard and mouse as well as controller input. If a controller is not recognized, connect it before launching; for a DualShock, DualSense, or other non-XInput controller, enable Steam Input from Library > Dispatch > Properties > Controller. Steam Input presets are listed for DualSense, Xbox One, and Steam Deck.

The display options include VSync, 16:9 widescreen, 4K resolution support, windowed and borderless modes, and color-blind filters. Ultra-wide is pillarboxed, and the game does not offer an FOV slider. A 17 June 2026 update added optional visual-censorship filters; Steam’s PC default remains uncensored unless the player changes it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Dispatch have a physical PC edition?

No physical Windows edition was identified in the official catalog reviewed through October 2026. Physical editions were announced for selected console platforms, which does not establish a boxed PC release.

Is Dispatch appropriate for children?

The Steam listing describes its content as “Mature Language, Cartoon Violence, Some Nudity, and Tobacco and Drug Usage. Rated R type stuff.” Check the store’s content information and your household’s age guidelines before choosing the game.

Can I get a refund if Dispatch will not run on my PC?

Steam’s general refund policy usually allows requests within 14 days of purchase and with less than two hours of play, though exceptions can apply. Review Valve’s current refund FAQ and submit a request through Steam rather than assuming a refund is automatic.

Can I transfer my demo progress into the full version?

The save directory is shared under the Dispatch folder in your Windows local application data, but replacing or moving save files can risk progress. Make a separate copy of the save folder before attempting a transfer.
