Yes—you can usually recreate your Spotify playlists in another music service. A transfer tool or the destination service’s import feature matches the songs in a playlist against the new service’s catalog. It does not move Spotify’s audio files, and some tracks may be missing or matched to a different release. Check the destination playlist before you rely on it, and keep your Spotify access until you have reviewed the results.
What happens when you transfer a Spotify playlist?
A playlist transfer recreates a list of tracks in another service. The destination searches its own catalog for songs that correspond to the entries in your Spotify playlist. It is not a copy of the music files, and it does not make Spotify’s catalog available in the new app.

That distinction matters because the two services may not carry the same recordings. A song might be absent from the destination, listed with different metadata, or represented by another release or version. A playlist can therefore transfer successfully as a list while still differing from the Spotify original.
Transfer tools described here copy or recreate selected content; they do not delete the source playlists. Treat the destination as a new version to check, not as a guaranteed mirror of every Spotify track.

How do you move playlists from Spotify to another service?
For a Spotify-to-destination move, use an import feature offered by the destination or a transfer route that explicitly supports Spotify as the source and your intended service as the destination. Follow the tool’s account-connection prompts, select the playlists, and inspect its completion report.
- Confirm the direction. Check that the feature transfers from Spotify to your new service. Spotify’s US help page documents an in-app feature for importing music into Spotify, which is the opposite direction.
- Check support and availability. Confirm that the destination and source are supported, and that the feature is available in your country. The destination app may show its current options.
- Connect the accounts and select content. Use the destination’s documented steps or the transfer service’s prompts to authorize the relevant accounts and choose playlists. Select only the lists you want to recreate.
- Review the report and destination playlist. Look for unmatched tracks, then check questionable matches in the new service—especially songs with alternate versions, releases, or metadata.
- Keep Spotify available until you are satisfied. Confirm that the new playlist contains the songs and versions you expect before giving up access to the source.
The exact controls vary by route. Avoid assuming that a feature called “import” exports from Spotify: the direction, supported services, and eligible content determine whether it solves your particular move.

The documented options differ in direction, eligibility, and limits. Spotify’s US support page describes importing into Spotify; Soundiiz documents moving Spotify playlists to Apple Music; Apple documents a native feature for transferring content from other music services into Apple Music.
| Route | Direction and type | Requirements and limits stated in the documentation | Result reporting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spotify’s in-app import | Into Spotify, using “Import your music from other apps” in the mobile app. Spotify identifies TuneMyMusic in this flow; this is not a documented native export from Spotify. | The US help page gives the app path: Your Library → “Import your music from other apps.” A destination subscription requirement is not stated for this Spotify import flow. | The cited Spotify information does not establish a transfer report for using the feature to leave Spotify. |
| Soundiiz | Third-party route documented for moving Spotify playlists to Apple Music. | Soundiiz says its free plan transfers eligible playlists one at a time and lets you choose up to 200 tracks per playlist, even when a playlist is longer. Batch transfers and certain library-item transfers require a paid plan. A price is not stated in the cited information. | Soundiiz describes matching based on details such as title, artist, album, duration, version, and identifiers when available. Its documentation does not promise that every match will be exact. |
| Apple Music’s native transfer | Into Apple Music from other music services, using Apple’s “Transfer your library and playlists from music services to Apple Music” feature. | An Apple Music subscription is required. Only playlists you created are eligible; service-created playlists are excluded. Available content depends on the source service, and availability varies by market. | Apple provides a review period for music it cannot match in the documented flow. |
These details are based on Spotify’s US help information and the respective Soundiiz and Apple support documentation. Features can vary by country and may change, so check the destination app’s current availability and instructions before starting.
Why might songs be missing or different?
The destination can only add a match that exists in its catalog and that its matching process identifies as corresponding to your Spotify entry. Catalogs differ between services and countries, while song titles and artist or album details may not be identical across releases.
Soundiiz says its matching process can use titles, artists, albums, duration, version details, and identifiers when available. Those clues help identify equivalents, but they do not guarantee that two catalog entries are the same recording. A different version may share much of the same information, or the destination may lack the track altogether.
- Unmatched track: The destination may not carry the song, or differences in catalog metadata may prevent a match.
- Wrong version: The selected entry may be a different release or recording. Compare version details and listen before treating it as correct.
- Incomplete long playlist: On Soundiiz’s free plan, you can choose up to 200 tracks per playlist transfer; tracks beyond that selection limit are not included in that transfer.
TuneMyMusic says it lists songs that did not transfer. Apple’s documented native flow provides a review period for unmatched music. Use whichever report or review controls your route provides, and resolve omissions before assuming the new list is complete.
What should you check before choosing a route?
Start with the direction and destination, then check eligibility, cost conditions, and how you will identify songs that did not transfer. A tool appearing inside Spotify does not necessarily mean it is Spotify-owned or provides an export from Spotify.

- Subscription and country: Apple requires an Apple Music subscription for its native transfer. Apple says availability varies by market, and the transferable content depends on the source service.
- Unmatched-song handling: Check whether the route identifies missing songs or provides a review period, so you can tell what needs attention.
- Account and privacy terms: Spotify’s US page identifies TuneMyMusic as a third party and says Spotify “does not have any formal relationship with this provider and cannot guarantee the quality of their service.” It also says use is subject to the provider’s terms and privacy policy and that Spotify cannot assist with disputes. Review the provider’s current terms and privacy policy before connecting accounts.
How can you avoid losing track of the original playlist?
Do not treat a completed transfer notification as proof that every song and version is correct. Keep the Spotify playlist accessible while you compare the destination list and handle any missing matches.
- Choose one representative playlist first if you want to understand how a route handles your catalog before transferring more.
- Open the destination playlist and check its contents against the source, paying particular attention to songs you know have multiple releases or versions.
- Use the route’s unmatched-track report or review period to identify omissions, then search the destination catalog for the intended song or version.
- Only after you are satisfied with the new copy should you decide whether to continue using or paying for Spotify. The transfer itself does not require deleting the original playlist.
TuneMyMusic says it copies rather than deletes source playlists, and Soundiiz says it recreates selected content without deleting the source or copying audio files. Apple says saved content remains accessible in the other service after its transfer. Those statements support keeping the source as a fallback while you check the destination.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Does Spotify’s import feature help if you are leaving Spotify?
Not by itself. Spotify’s US help page describes the mobile-app option “Import your music from other apps,” under Your Library, as a way to bring music into Spotify. For a move out of Spotify, choose a destination feature or a transfer service that documents Spotify as the source.
Can you keep the exact same playlist?
You can usually recreate the track selection, but an exact match is not guaranteed. The destination must have a corresponding catalog entry, and its release or version may differ; review the resulting playlist before relying on it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will playlist order and custom descriptions transfer too?
The cited Spotify, Soundiiz, and Apple information does not establish that playlist order, descriptions, or other custom details are preserved in every route. Check the destination playlist after transfer if those details matter to you.
Does using a third-party transfer tool make it a Spotify service?
No. Spotify’s US help page calls TuneMyMusic a third party and disclaims a formal relationship and guarantee of service quality. Its appearance in Spotify’s import flow does not make it Spotify-owned.
