Yes, a suitably configured Lenovo Legion 5i can likely handle video editing, streaming, and gaming at the same time for moderate workloads—but that is an inference from its published specifications and software requirements, not a result verified in a simultaneous-workload test. The practical answer depends on the exact Legion 5i generation, memory and GPU configuration, footage and effects, game settings, stream encoder, and OBS scene. A 16 GB model is a more comfortable starting point for HD editing than for a demanding 4K workflow.
What does “at the same time” mean for a Legion 5i?
It can mean having an editing project open while gaming and broadcasting, or it can mean actively rendering or exporting a video while also playing and streaming. Those are different workloads. Each additional active task competes for system resources, so a configuration that feels adequate for editing HD footage by itself may be more constrained when a game, stream, and complex editing job are all running.

Before applying any general advice, check the full model number and the installed components on the laptop or its listing. In particular, confirm the GPU model and memory, installed system RAM, and SSD capacity. A family name alone cannot tell you whether a machine matches either configuration above, and these listings do not provide a controlled head-to-head workload test.
Is 16 GB of RAM enough for editing while you stream and play?
It is a reasonable starting point for HD editing, but it is below Adobe’s recommendation for 4K and higher-resolution Premiere work. Adobe’s technical requirements, updated October 7, 2026, recommend 16 GB RAM for HD media and 32 GB or more for 4K and higher; Adobe also lists 8 GB of GPU memory as recommended. For HD projects
A Legion 5i configuration with 16 GB matches Adobe’s stated memory recommendation for HD media. That makes it a plausible baseline for editing HD footage, not proof that every HD timeline will stay responsive while a game and stream are active. Footage format, effects, project complexity, and the other running applications still affect the load.

For 4K and higher
Adobe recommends 32 GB or more for 4K and higher, so a 16 GB configuration is below that recommendation. This does not establish that 4K editing is impossible; it does mean that demanding 4K work alongside a game and stream should be treated as a more constrained scenario. If that is your regular use, compare the exact model’s memory configuration with Adobe’s recommendation instead of assuming every Legion 5i is equally suited to it.
What does the GPU-memory recommendation tell you?
The two Lenovo examples list 8 GB of GPU memory, which matches the amount Adobe lists as recommended for Premiere. This is one relevant specification, not a promise of editing speed or a measure of the complete simultaneous workload. The Premiere requirement also cannot be used by itself to predict how a particular game, stream, codec, or effect will perform.
Can you game and stream on the Legion 5i together?
Possibly, but the settings and scene determine how demanding the combination is. OBS says that a system meeting its basic requirements is not automatically guaranteed to stream or record successfully. Its guidance notes that CPU requirements vary considerably with encoder choice, resolution, frame rate, and scene complexity; it recommends starting with the Auto Configuration Wizard. That variability matters when a game and stream are active at once: a high game setting, demanding output resolution or frame rate, and a complex scene can change the workload. Adding editing or exporting work makes the exact combination still less predictable. Neither a GPU model nor OBS compatibility alone establishes that a particular stream will remain smooth.
How should you set up the three workloads?
Start with the workload you actually want to run, not a theoretical maximum. Use the laptop’s exact configuration, the intended footage and game, and the stream settings you plan to keep. Then adjust based on what happens in a real session.
- Identify the laptop. Check the generation and model number, exact GPU, installed RAM, and SSD capacity. Do not assume the Gen 9 or Gen 10 configuration in the table describes another retailer’s or region’s model.
- Set an editing target. For Premiere, treat 16 GB as Adobe’s recommendation for HD media and 32 GB or more as its recommendation for 4K and higher. Note the footage resolution, codec, effects, and whether an export will run during the game and stream.
- Configure OBS for the intended stream. Run the Auto Configuration Wizard, then test with the target output resolution, frame rate, encoder, and scene complexity. A wizard recommendation is a starting point, not proof that the finished combination works reliably.
- Test the game and stream together. Use the game settings and stream output you expect to use, and observe whether the game or broadcast behaves acceptably. Change one demanding setting at a time so you can tell which adjustment helps.
- Add editing activity deliberately. Open the project first; if you also intend to export while gaming and streaming, test that as a separate, more demanding case. Do not assume that a successful gameplay stream predicts how a simultaneous export will behave.
- Keep media on fast storage. Adobe recommends a fast internal SSD for the application and cache, plus an additional high-speed drive for media. Decide whether the internal drive has enough capacity for your project files and active media; an additional drive’s usefulness depends on your footage volume and workflow.
What should you change if performance is strained?
If the combined setup is not behaving well, reduce the demands of the workload before concluding that the model name alone explains the problem. These are practical adjustments to try, not fixes verified in a Legion 5i simultaneous-workload test.

- Retest after each change: repeat the same game, stream, and editing activity after adjusting a setting. Changing several variables at once makes it harder to identify what improved or worsened the result.
How should you compare two Legion 5i models?
Compare exact configurations against your intended workload; a newer generation number or a larger SSD does not, on its own, settle the question of simultaneous performance. Use a specification checklist alongside a description of what you will actually run.

Is the Gen 9 Legion 5i with a 1 TB SSD better than the listed Gen 10 model for editing?
