Use one structured content model as the source of truth, then publish different representations for each audience. Browsers should receive accessible semantic HTML; automated clients can receive Markdown or typed JSON; agents need separate discovery documents and authenticated action contracts. Keep authentication, authorization, validation, rate limits, audit trails, and confirmation outside the content representation. This architecture avoids duplicating editorial work while giving people fast pages and giving agents predictable data and narrowly scoped operations.
What does a shared content model mean?
A shared content model is a set of typed records and relationships that describes your site independently of any one presentation. A news article, for example, can contain a title, summary, body blocks, author reference, publication state, update time, tags, canonical path, and related stories. The same record can then be rendered into a page for a person, Markdown for a text-oriented client, or JSON for software that needs explicit field types.

This is different from storing finished HTML as the only source. HTML is an excellent delivery format, but it mixes content with layout, navigation, accessibility markup, analytics hooks, and other presentation concerns. When an agent must extract a price, an eligibility rule, or an available appointment, it has to infer meaning from that mixture. A typed model makes those meanings explicit before rendering begins.
Headless CMS platforms are a common way to implement this pattern. Contentful describes a content model as a collection of content types in a space, including linked reference fields. Adobe’s content-fragment documentation describes schemas for page-independent structured content delivered through APIs. An equivalent database and API can provide the same separation if it supports validation, references, editorial states, and predictable delivery.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Model content, configuration, and behavior separately
Use three ownership boundaries rather than one giant “page” object:
- Page sections: headings, rich text, images, calls to action, tables, and other reusable blocks.
- Shared records: navigation, footer links, organization details, SEO defaults, legal notices, and taxonomy.
- Behavioral configuration: form definitions, allowed destinations, tool metadata, confirmation requirements, and feature flags.
Editors should own content and approved configuration. Application code should own authorization, business rules, side effects, and secrets. This prevents a content editor from silently granting an agent permission to perform an operation that the server never intended to expose.

How should you design the content schema?
Start with the questions your site must answer, not with the components in a particular frontend framework. Identify the nouns, their lifecycle, and their relationships, then define the smallest fields that let every representation answer those questions without scraping layout.
Define stable entities and references
Create distinct types for entities that have their own identity or editorial lifecycle. A “person” should not be duplicated in every article; an article should reference a person record. The same applies to products, locations, categories, events, and downloadable files. References make updates consistent and let an API return either embedded data or stable identifiers.
Give fields explicit semantics
Use dates with a stated timezone, enumerations for finite states, numeric fields for amounts, and booleans only for true or false conditions. Avoid putting several values into a single paragraph when an agent may need to filter or calculate. For example, model an event’s start time, end time, location, capacity, and registration status separately instead of encoding them in prose.
Represent editorial state
Include draft, scheduled, published, and withdrawn states where your workflow requires them. Store publication and update timestamps, revision identifiers, and preview permissions. A browser build can use the published view while an authenticated preview can resolve a draft revision without changing the public API.

Keep presentation hints bounded
It is reasonable to store a block type, emphasis option, or image crop preference. Do not store arbitrary executable templates or unreviewed URLs in content records. A renderer should map known block types to known components and reject unknown types rather than interpreting them dynamically.

How do browsers receive a high-quality representation?
Render the model into semantic, accessible HTML. Use headings in hierarchical order, real lists for lists, table elements for tabular data, labels associated with form controls, descriptive link text, and alternative text for meaningful images. The browser representation remains the canonical public experience for people and should not be reduced to a machine-only endpoint.
A representation layer can resolve references, apply navigation and footer records, insert SEO defaults, and select the correct locale. It can statically generate pages, cache responses, revalidate them after a model change, and provide draft preview. The documented architecture for this pattern combines static generation, caching, revalidation, and preview while serving HTML and Markdown from the same CMS records.
Choose a rendering and cache policy
- Static generation: build pages ahead of requests when content changes relatively infrequently.
- Revalidation: refresh a generated page after a publication event or a defined interval.
- Request-time rendering: resolve content when a request arrives if freshness or personalization requires it.
- Preview: use a separate authenticated path or token so drafts never leak into public caches.
Whichever policy you choose, define cache keys that include locale, device-independent variants, and publication state where applicable. Invalidate dependent pages when a referenced record changes; updating an author or navigation item may affect many URLs.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Should AI agents receive Markdown or JSON?
Offer both when you have different client needs. Markdown is compact and preserves headings, lists, links, and readable prose. JSON is better when a client must select fields, validate types, filter records, or pass values into another API. Neither format grants permission to perform an action; they are representations of data.
| Representation | Best use | Strengths | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Semantic HTML | Human browsing, accessibility tools, search crawlers | Complete page context, native browser behavior, familiar semantics | More presentation markup; agents must ignore layout details |
| Markdown | Text-oriented agents and low-cost extraction | Low parsing cost; headings, lists, and links remain clear | Types such as dates, prices, and identifiers need conventions or accompanying metadata |
| Typed JSON | Filtering, validation, integrations, and structured workflows | Explicit fields, stable identifiers, machine-readable enums | Requires documented schemas, versioning, and error handling |
Generate Markdown and JSON from the same records rather than maintaining a second editorial copy. Include canonical URLs, stable IDs, update times, locale, and relationships where they help clients judge freshness or navigate related resources. Keep the output bounded: do not expose internal notes, unpublished revisions, credentials, or fields that are unnecessary for the client’s task.
How can an AI agent discover what your site can do?
Discovery is a separate layer from page content. Publish a sitemap and machine-readable descriptions of resources, authentication, and available operations. A documented implementation uses /.well-known/api-catalog, an MCP server card, agent-skill documentation, an OAuth authorization-server document, sitemap.md, and an OpenAPI 3.1 description for a news API.
Use capability documents deliberately
A W2A proposal describes /.well-known/agents.json containing capability IDs, intents, actions, inputs, outputs, and authentication policies. Treat this as an evolving proposal, not a universally recognized web standard. Label the document with its schema version, publish only capabilities that are actually available, and provide a human-readable explanation alongside it.

Describe authentication and authorization
An agent needs to know whether an operation is public, requires a user login, needs delegated OAuth authorization, or is restricted to a specific account role. Document token audience, scopes, expiration behavior, consent requirements, and representative error responses. Never put client secrets or reusable privileged tokens in discovery files.
Make discovery consistent with reality
Automate checks that every documented endpoint exists, every action has an authorization policy, and every schema matches the server’s validation behavior. Remove retired operations promptly. A stale capability catalog is worse than no catalog because an agent may repeatedly attempt an operation that the server cannot fulfill.
How do you expose actions safely with WebMCP?
For browser-mediated actions, register tools with a name, description, JSON schema, and execution handler. Chrome’s WebMCP documentation says the browser presents these tools to a WebMCP-aware agent together with the page URL, title, and origin permission scope. This lets an agent discover actions in the context of the page instead of guessing from visible text.
- Define one narrow operation. Prefer
search_articles,check_order_status, orstart_registrationover a generic “run request” tool. - Write an input schema. Mark required fields, allowed enum values, length limits, formats, and whether a value is sensitive.
- Describe side effects. State whether the operation reads data, creates a record, sends a message, changes an account, or cannot be undone.
- Validate on the server. Treat the browser-provided arguments as untrusted even when the browser displayed the schema.
- Require confirmation for consequential changes. Show the user the target, amount, recipients, or other material details before execution.
- Return structured results. Include a success state, stable identifiers, user-safe messages, and machine-readable error types.
WebMCP and related agent interfaces are evolving. Verify browser support, the specification version, and production readiness before making an action a core dependency. Follow the platform’s tool-security guidance and run evaluations that check whether agents call a tool only when appropriate and whether they can interpret its output.
How do you secure CMS-driven forms and agent actions?
Assume that both incoming browser requests and CMS-configured form definitions can be manipulated. The CMS should describe approved fields and presentation, but the server must decide which endpoint is callable, which user is authorized, and what data is acceptable.
Sign and validate dynamic definitions
One documented approach signs field definitions with HMAC and verifies the signature before accepting a submission. The signature proves that the definition came from an approved publishing path; it does not replace input validation. Validate field names, types, lengths, formats, cross-field rules, and business constraints again on the server.
Constrain destinations and redirects
Use an allowlist of approved endpoints rather than accepting an arbitrary URL from content. Validate redirect targets against the same allowlist and reject ambiguous or external destinations unless the workflow explicitly permits them.

Control abuse and replay
- Apply authentication and authorization before performing a write.
- Rate-limit by account, token, IP, or another appropriate principal.
- Use request timeouts and bounded payload sizes.
- Add honeypots or equivalent bot signals where they fit the form.
- Use idempotency keys for operations that could be retried.
- Log actor, operation, target, result, and correlation ID without storing unnecessary secrets.
Destructive actions should require an explicit confirmation step and, where appropriate, a second factor or human review. Keep audit logs outside the content model so an editor cannot rewrite the history of an action.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWhat is SDF, and how does it fit this architecture?
SDF is a complementary data layer, not a replacement for HTML, RSS, Atom, or another existing web standard. Its role is to describe structured information for automated consumption. SDF contains no agent instructions, tool definitions, function calls, or execution semantics.
That boundary is important. Use SDF-like structured documents, Markdown, or JSON to describe content and state. Use authenticated APIs or tools to perform changes. Do not embed a command in a content document and assume an agent should execute it. The server must expose an explicit contract, enforce authorization, and validate every request.
How should you compare CMS and delivery options?
Choose a CMS or structured store by testing the whole delivery path, not just the editing interface. The relevant comparison is how well the system supports modeling, representations, caching, discovery, security, and governance together.
| Decision area | Questions to ask | Evidence of a good fit |
|---|---|---|
| Schema and references | Can you create typed records, links, validation rules, locales, and lifecycle states? | Content types and references remain stable as the site grows. |
| API and representations | Can the system deliver the fields needed for HTML, Markdown, and JSON without scraping? | One record can produce multiple representations with predictable IDs and errors. |
| Caching and preview | Can publication events trigger revalidation while drafts stay private? | Cache invalidation and preview behavior are documented and testable. |
| Discovery and tools | Can you publish versioned catalogs, OpenAPI descriptions, and action metadata? | Capabilities, schemas, and authentication policies stay synchronized with deployment. |
| Security and governance | Can roles, approvals, audit logs, rate limits, and server-side validation be enforced? | Content editors cannot bypass business authorization or alter audit history. |
| Editorial workflow | Can teams preview, schedule, localize, roll back, and review linked changes? | Editors see the final browser and agent representations before publication. |
Contentful documents linked content types and API-based model construction. Adobe documents GraphQL and REST delivery for content fragments. Those capabilities illustrate the criteria; the right choice depends on your team’s hosting, integration, compliance, and workflow requirements.
What implementation sequence minimizes rework?
Build the data and trust boundaries before adding agent actions. The following order keeps a broken discovery document or unsafe write path from becoming a production dependency.
- Inventory user goals and operations. List what people browse, what agents need to retrieve, and which operations may change state.
- Define ownership and schemas. Separate page blocks, shared records, and behavioral configuration. Add references, validation, editorial states, and stable IDs.
- Create the browser renderer. Produce semantic HTML with accessibility checks, navigation, SEO defaults, and error pages.
- Add preview and publishing controls. Implement draft access, scheduled publication, rollback, cache keys, and dependency-aware revalidation.
- Generate Markdown and JSON. Select fields intentionally, include freshness metadata, and version schemas that external clients consume.
- Publish discovery files. Add a sitemap, API catalog, authentication metadata, OpenAPI descriptions, and any agent capability document you support.
- Expose read operations first. Make search, filtering, and retrieval reliable before introducing writes. Return stable error types and pagination behavior.
- Add narrowly scoped actions. Register WebMCP tools or API operations with JSON schemas, authorization checks, confirmation rules, and rate limits.
- Instrument and audit. Record request IDs, validation failures, authorization denials, latency, cache status, and action outcomes.
- Evaluate with representative tasks. Test browser users, scripted clients, and agents against the same published and previewed content.
How do you test freshness, contracts, and failures?
Use contract tests in deployment and end-to-end tests against a staging environment with realistic records. A green page render is not enough if the Markdown endpoint is stale, the discovery catalog lists a removed action, or a failed authorization request leaks details.

What common mistakes make agent-ready websites unreliable?
Duplicating content for each channel
Separate HTML copy, Markdown copy, and JSON copy drift as soon as an editor changes one of them. Generate every representation from the same records and compare outputs in automated tests.
Using prose as an action contract
An instruction such as “contact support” does not define an endpoint, input schema, authorization policy, or result. Publish a documented operation or leave it as a human-only workflow.
Treating discovery as permission
A catalog tells an agent that an operation exists; it does not authorize the caller. Enforce identity, role, scope, validation, rate limits, and confirmation at execution time.
Trusting CMS configuration
A field definition or destination stored in a CMS can be stale, malformed, or changed by an account with excessive privileges. Sign approved definitions where appropriate, allowlist destinations, and validate again on the server.
Publishing unstable schemas
Changing a field from a number to a formatted string can silently break clients. Version machine-facing schemas, announce deprecations, and retain compatibility during a migration window.
Ignoring freshness
An agent that receives yesterday’s availability or policy can make a reasonable-looking but wrong decision. Include update timestamps, invalidate dependent caches, and define what clients should do when freshness cannot be guaranteed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can a static website still support AI agents?
Yes. Static generation can publish HTML, Markdown, JSON, and discovery files as build artifacts. Add a separate authenticated service only for operations that require live data or state changes.
Do agents need a special markup language embedded in every page?
No. Accessible HTML plus well-defined Markdown or JSON endpoints can provide content. Discovery documents and action contracts should be separate, so ordinary page text is not mistaken for executable instructions.
How often should an agent-facing schema change?
Change it when the data contract genuinely changes, not for cosmetic page updates. Version breaking changes, document deprecations, and keep old fields available long enough for known clients to migrate.
What should happen when an agent sends invalid arguments?
Return a structured client-error response that identifies the invalid field without exposing internal details. Do not execute a partial write; let the caller correct the request or ask the user for clarification.
