Bluehost Agency Hosting Dashboard: How to Manage Client Sites

To manage a client website in Bluehost Agency Hosting, sign in to the Bluehost Portal, choose Websites in the left-hand navigation, and select Manage Site beside the site you need. That workspace contains the site-level controls for domains, backups, performance, logs, databases, SSH/SFTP, WordPress users, staging, and settings. Account-wide tools such as billing, services, domains, security, and team administration remain in the portal navigation.

Your account role determines which controls you can see and use. Once you know whether a task affects the whole account, one production site, or a staging copy, the dashboard becomes a predictable workflow rather than a collection of unrelated menus.

What is the Bluehost Agency Hosting Dashboard?

The Agency Hosting Dashboard is Bluehost’s centralized control area for agencies managing multiple client websites. Bluehost Help author Rang I described it as a location for managing client websites, domains, security, performance, team access, and hosting resources; that guidance was updated September 3, 2026.

The interface has two levels. The portal level covers the account and its users, while the Manage Site workspace covers one selected website. Keeping those scopes separate helps prevent an account-wide change from being mistaken for a site-only change.

Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Interface area Scope Typical work

Websites Account portfolio Search sites, add or transfer WordPress sites, connect domains, open Manage Site, and launch WordPress Admin
Email Account Email-related account services
Domains Account Register, transfer, or connect an external domain
Hosting Account Hosting-plan and hosting-resource administration
Security Account Account security controls and related services
Services Account Additional Bluehost services
Billing Account Payments, invoices, and plan administration

The labels and available actions can vary by role. A user who can view a site may not be allowed to change billing, create credentials, or delete a site.

How do I sign in and find a client site?

Start at the Bluehost Portal, confirm the account and role you are using, then use Websites as the portfolio entry point. The following sequence keeps navigation consistent when you work across several clients.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Sign in to the Bluehost Portal. The portal opens on Dashboard. Review the left-hand navigation before selecting a task.
  2. Open Websites. This view lists hosted sites and provides search and site-management actions.
  3. Search or scan the portfolio. Use the site name or the available search controls to locate the client project rather than opening an unrelated account-level menu.
  4. Select Manage Site. This opens the operational workspace for that specific website.
  5. Choose the site-level tab that matches the job. Domains, Backups, Performance, Logs, Database, SSH/SFTP, Users, Staging, and Settings have different risk and permission implications.

If a menu or action is missing, first check which account role is assigned to you. The portal’s role model can limit what you manage even when you can see the website in the portfolio.

What can I do from Websites?

Websites is more than a list of links: it is where you begin the lifecycle of a client site. From this area you can add a hosting plan, add a WordPress site, clone or transfer a WordPress site, connect a domain, open Manage Site, and launch WordPress Admin.

Find an existing client site

Use the portfolio list and search controls to identify the exact site before making changes. Check the displayed site name and domain details, especially when two clients have similar project names.

Open WordPress Admin

When you need to edit pages, posts, themes, or plugins, use the site’s WordPress Admin launch action from Websites or the Users area inside Manage Site. This takes you to the WordPress administration interface without requiring you to hunt for a separate login path.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Start a site transfer or clone

Use the relevant add, clone, or transfer action from Websites. Treat the resulting site as a separate project until its domain, content, users, and production status have been verified.

What does the Manage Site Overview show?

Overview is the quickest way to establish a site’s current state before you change anything. It combines identity, health, versions, capacity, and recent activity in one screen.

  • Site name and online status.
  • Security and malware-scan status.
  • Installed WordPress version and PHP version.
  • Data-center assignment.
  • PHP Worker allocation.
  • Storage usage or allocation information.
  • Recent backup information.
  • Installed plugins and themes.
  • Available site-management actions.

Use this information as a pre-change checklist. A version update, plugin change, or performance adjustment should be made with the site’s current WordPress and PHP versions, backup state, storage, and PHP Worker allocation in view.

How do I connect a domain to an Agency Hosting site?

Use the site’s Domains tab to inspect and manage the connection, and use the account-level Domains area when you need to register, transfer, or connect an external domain. The site tab is the place to verify whether the name is actually connected to this website.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Websites and choose Manage Site for the intended client site.
  2. Select Domains.
  3. Review the listed domains and identify the domain you want to use.
  4. Check the displayed document root so you know which site location the domain targets.
  5. Review the DNS connection status.
  6. Review the SSL status before treating the connection as complete.
  7. Note the site’s temporary URL if you need to identify or preview the site while the final domain is being connected.
  8. Confirm which domain is marked as the primary domain.

If the domain is not already available in the account, return to the portal’s account-level Domains area. That area supports registering, transferring, or connecting an external domain; the site-level tab then shows how the domain is attached to this particular site.

What each domain field tells you

Field Why it matters
Document root Identifies the directory that serves the domain’s site files.
DNS connection status Shows whether the domain’s DNS connection is recognized for the site.
SSL status Shows the current secure-connection state for the domain.
Temporary URL Provides an alternate address associated with the site while you work through domain setup.
Primary domain Identifies the domain treated as the site’s main address.

How do I check backups and restore a site?

Backups are managed from the site’s Backups tab, which integrates with Jetpack Security. Use it to confirm protection and the latest-backup state before a risky change, inspect backup activity, open the Jetpack Backup tools, and restore from an available recovery point.

  1. Open the correct site through Websites → Manage Site.
  2. Choose Backups.
  3. Check whether protection is active and review the latest-backup status.
  4. Open the integrated backup tools to inspect backup activity.
  5. Identify an available restore point that matches the recovery need.
  6. Start the restore only after confirming the selected site and recovery point.

A restore is a recovery operation, not a substitute for testing. For updates or design changes, create a staging copy first when possible; use a restore when you need to return the production site to an available backup state.

How do I improve site performance?

The site’s Performance tab combines controls and measurements. You can enable, disable, or clear Edge Cache, adjust PHP Worker allocation, and review traffic, request, response-time, and resource-use metrics.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Edge Cache controls

Use the Edge Cache controls when you need to change caching behavior. The tab provides explicit enable, disable, and clear actions, so select the action that matches the change rather than assuming a general performance switch will do all three.

PHP Worker allocation

PHP Workers process dynamic PHP requests. The dashboard exposes the current allocation and lets you adjust it where your plan and permissions allow. Check resource-use information before changing allocation, and compare the result with the traffic and request data shown in the same workspace.

Read the metrics together

  • Traffic describes demand reaching the site.
  • Requests shows the volume of work being requested.
  • Response times helps identify slow request handling.
  • Resource use shows how heavily the site’s available hosting capacity is being consumed.

Performance controls affect resources, so record the original setting and make one change at a time. That gives you a clearer basis for deciding whether to keep, reverse, or further tune the change.

Where are logs and database tools?

Use Logs for evidence about site activity and failures, and use Database for database identification, phpMyAdmin access, and MySQL-password synchronization.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

Logs

The Logs area exposes both error logs and access logs. Error logs are the first place to look when a site reports a server-side failure or a feature stops working. Access logs help you inspect requests and activity surrounding the incident. Capture the relevant time and request details before changing settings so that later troubleshooting has a reference point.

Database

The Database tab shows the database name and table prefix, launches phpMyAdmin, and provides a MySQL-password resync action. Verify the site identity before opening phpMyAdmin, because database changes operate below the WordPress interface and can affect the entire installation.

Use the password resync control when the hosting and database credentials need to be synchronized. It is distinct from editing tables manually in phpMyAdmin, which should be reserved for users who understand the site’s database structure and have a current recovery option.

How do I use SSH and SFTP safely?

The SSH/SFTP area is the advanced file-access workspace. It shows server information, lets you create or manage SSH/SFTP users, provides connection commands, and controls each user’s permissions.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the site’s SSH/SFTP tab.
  2. Review the displayed server information.
  3. Create or select the SSH/SFTP user who needs access.
  4. Set the narrowest permissions that support the task.
  5. Copy the provided connection command instead of reconstructing connection details from memory.
  6. After the work is complete, return to the user list and remove or restrict access that is no longer needed.

SSH/SFTP is appropriate for controlled file operations, deployment work, and advanced diagnostics. It is not the safest first choice for routine content edits that WordPress Admin can handle, because a file-level mistake can affect the whole site.

How do I manage WordPress users and open WordPress Admin?

The site’s Users tab lists WordPress users and their roles. Each entry includes a Login action that takes you to WordPress Admin.

  1. Open Manage Site for the client website.
  2. Select Users.
  3. Review the username and assigned WordPress role.
  4. Use Login for the user who should enter WordPress Admin.
  5. Make sure the selected role matches the work being performed before granting or changing access.

WordPress roles are site-level permissions; they do not replace the Bluehost portal’s account roles. A person may be able to administer WordPress content while lacking permission to change hosting, billing, or other account functions.

How do I create and use staging?

Staging creates a test copy where you can try updates, plugins, design changes, or new features before affecting production. After previewing and approving the result, you can promote the staging copy to production.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the site’s Staging tab.
  2. Create a staging copy of the current site.
  3. Apply the planned update, plugin installation, design change, or feature test to staging.
  4. Preview and test the staging result.
  5. Check the important pages and workflows for the client project.
  6. Promote the approved staging copy to production only when the result is ready.

Staging is the lower-risk path for changes that might alter the site’s appearance or behavior. It is more reversible than editing production directly, but promotion is still a production action: confirm the selected site and approved copy before proceeding.

What can I change in Settings?

The Settings tab handles configuration and lifecycle actions. It covers storage allocation, WordPress and PHP versions, Static 404 Handling, configuration review, and permanent deletion.

Storage and versions

Review storage allocation when the Overview or Performance information indicates that capacity is becoming a concern. The same area exposes WordPress and PHP version controls, so check compatibility with the site’s plugins and themes before changing versions.

Static 404 Handling

Static 404 Handling is a specific configuration option in Settings. Review its current state as part of a configuration check rather than changing it as a generic performance fix.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Permanent deletion

Deletion is an irreversible lifecycle action. Before selecting it, verify the site name, domain, and client project, confirm that any required backup or transfer work is complete, and ensure you are not viewing a similarly named site.

How do I create a new Agency Hosting WordPress site?

The new-site workflow starts in the same portfolio area used for existing clients. Plan the domain and WordPress installation before committing the site to production.

  1. Sign in to the Bluehost Portal.
  2. Open Websites.
  3. Choose the action to configure a new site.
  4. Set up the site’s hosting details and complete the WordPress installation.
  5. Connect the intended domain through the domain workflow.
  6. Open Manage Site and verify the Overview, domain status, WordPress version, PHP version, storage, and backup state.
  7. Use staging for planned changes before handing the site to the client.

Completing installation and domain connection are separate checkpoints. A site can exist in the portfolio before its intended domain is connected and verified.

Which dashboard workflow should I use for a task?

Choose the path by scope, risk, skill level, reversibility, and resource impact. This prevents using a powerful tool when a safer, narrower control is available.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Task or approach Scope Risk profile Best fit Reversibility and resource notes
Portal navigation Account-wide Depends on the account action Billing, users and roles, services, account domains, and hosting May affect multiple sites or team members; role permissions apply
Manage Site tabs One site Usually contained to that site Domains, backups, performance, diagnostics, access, and configuration Review the selected site before acting
WordPress Admin One WordPress installation Content and application changes Pages, posts, themes, plugins, and WordPress users Use staging for changes that need testing
Staging Copy of one site Lower production risk Updates, plugins, design, and feature testing Promote only an approved copy to production
Database/phpMyAdmin Underlying site database High technical risk Database-level diagnosis or maintenance Use a recovery option and verify the database identity
SSH/SFTP Site files and server connection High technical risk Advanced file work and diagnostics Restrict user permissions and remove access when finished
Backup restore Production site recovery Restorative but disruptive Returning to an available backup point Choose the correct site and restore point before starting

What are the most common navigation mistakes?

Changing an account setting when you meant to change one site

If the task concerns a single client website, enter through Websites → Manage Site. Account-level Domains, Hosting, Security, Billing, and Users & Roles menus can affect a broader scope.

Skipping the role check

A missing control may be a permission issue rather than a broken dashboard. Ask an account administrator to review the portal role before attempting workarounds.

Editing production before testing

Use Staging for updates, plugin changes, design work, and features that could alter behavior. Keep the production site as the destination for an approved result, not the testing area.

Ignoring backup status

Check Backups before a risky operation and confirm that a usable recovery point exists. If the latest-backup state is unclear, resolve that uncertainty before making a change.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Using database or SSH tools for routine tasks

WordPress Admin is the more appropriate interface for ordinary content and WordPress administration. Reserve phpMyAdmin and SSH/SFTP for tasks that genuinely require lower-level access.

Deleting the wrong site

Permanent deletion cannot be treated like a reversible setting. Verify the site name, domain, and client before selecting any deletion action in Settings.

When should I contact Bluehost support?

Contact support when a needed control is unavailable after your role has been checked, when domain or SSL status does not match the intended setup, or when a backup, restore, hosting, or account issue cannot be resolved from the displayed controls.

Bluehost states that Chat Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Phone support is available 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to midnight Eastern Time. Have the affected site name, domain, the Manage Site tab you were using, and any relevant error or log details ready so the support representative can identify the correct scope.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can I see a Bluehost site but not the action I need?

The account role may permit viewing without permitting changes to hosting, users, billing, credentials, or site lifecycle actions. Ask an account administrator to review Users & Roles and confirm that you are working in the intended account.

Can I resynchronize a MySQL password without editing database tables?

Yes. The site’s Database tab includes a MySQL-password resync action, separate from phpMyAdmin. Use that control when hosting and database credentials need to be brought back into sync.

Is deleting an Agency Hosting site reversible?

No. The deletion control in Settings is a permanent lifecycle action, so verify the site identity and any required backup, transfer, or client-approval work before using it.

What should I check before promoting staging to production?

Preview the staging copy and test the updates, plugins, design, or features you changed. Confirm that you are promoting the approved copy to the correct client site, then use the production site’s backup and domain information as a final identity check.
