For a handled miniature with features under 1 cm, start with a tough, high-detail ABS-like resin such as Siraya Tech Blu. For a display piece that will be handled less, Phrozen Aqua Gray 8K is the better fit when surface detail matters more than maximum impact resistance. Neither resin guarantees sharp results on every printer: calibrate exposure on the exact printer, resin, and layer height before committing to a full plate.
“Under 1 cm” covers very different details, from a whole figure to a face, antenna, or weapon tip. The useful test is whether the smallest features print repeatedly and survive support removal—not whether a resin has a high-detail label.

Which resin is best for a miniature with features under 1 cm?
The best starting choice depends on what the miniature must survive. Siraya Tech Blu is the strongest candidate here for handled gaming pieces because it is classified as an ABS-like resin with excellent detail and high toughness. Phrozen Aqua Gray 8K is a better fit for display pieces where crisp surface features take priority over impact resistance; the comparison classifies it as a high-detail standard resin with medium toughness.
These are starting points, not a universal ranking. No directly comparable, dated manufacturer statistic establishes one resin as best for every sub-1 cm part. Printer model, wavelength compatibility, layer height, exposure, supports, washing, and curing all affect the result. Check the current bottle formulation and regional product listing before buying, especially if relying on a previous recommendation or settings profile.

Quick comparison
| Resin | Detail and toughness in the reviewed comparison | Best-supported use |
|---|---|---|
| Siraya Tech Blu | Excellent detail; high toughness; ABS-like | Handled gaming miniatures and other small parts that may be bumped or flexed |
| Phrozen Aqua Gray 8K | Exceptional detail; medium toughness; standard resin | Display miniatures where surface crispness outranks maximum impact resistance |
| Anycubic High Clear Resin | The available manufacturer information provides printer-specific exposure tables, not a comparable detail-or-toughness rating | A candidate when its clear finish is wanted and the printer-specific exposure guidance matches the machine |
The comparison also reports approximately 19–25 µm XY detail as a general current-screen figure. That is not a guarantee for any of these resins, or for a particular printer: it does not establish that a face, spike, or other feature of a given size will resolve cleanly. Judge the result on the actual printer with a small validation print.
How should I choose between detail and toughness?
Decide how the miniature will be used before choosing a resin. A brittle detail that looks excellent on the build plate is not a good result if it breaks during support removal or ordinary handling; conversely, prioritizing toughness may not be necessary for a piece that will sit in a display case.

Start with Siraya Tech Blu. Its combination of excellent detail and high toughness makes it the best-supported option in this comparison for parts likely to be picked up, moved, or handled. “High toughness” is a relative product classification here, not a promise that thin antennae or weapon tips cannot snap. Check the current formulation and wavelength compatibility for the exact printer before using it.
For display pieces where surface detail comes first
Start with Phrozen Aqua Gray 8K. The comparison rates its detail as exceptional and its toughness as medium, which makes it the clearer choice when crisp features matter more than maximum impact resistance. For especially delicate parts, inspect breakage during support removal rather than judging only the completed miniature.

For a clear finish
Anycubic High Clear Resin is the candidate in this group with manufacturer-published, printer-specific exposure tables. Those tables are useful as starting points, but they do not establish that the resin outperforms the other options in fine detail or toughness. Confirm that the manual covers the exact printer and layer height, then validate the settings on a small print.
How do I calibrate resin for sub-1 cm details?
Use the manufacturer’s starting exposure for the exact printer and resin, then validate it at the layer height intended for the miniature. A setting listed for another printer—or even another model using the same resin—is not a reliable substitute: Anycubic’s manual, for example, gives different exposure values by printer model for High Clear Resin.
- Confirm the match. Check the resin bottle and current manufacturer guidance for the printer model, wavelength compatibility, and intended layer height. Record those details with the test so the result remains useful later.
- Print a small exposure-validation matrix. Use a compact test rather than a full miniature plate. Include features that resemble the print’s critical details, such as narrow projections or small surface marks, if your test model supports them.
- Change one variable at a time. Adjust exposure in a controlled way and record the setting. Keep notes on lift settings, support density, washing, and cure time as well; changing several factors together makes it difficult to tell what improved or damaged the result.
- Inspect the features that matter. Compare edge sharpness and dimensional accuracy, then look for support scars and breakage. For tiny repeatable features, magnification is more useful than relying on a quick glance at the whole miniature.
- Repeat before printing a full plate. Choose settings based on the features that must print consistently and survive cleanup. A single successful detail is not enough to establish repeatability.
Keep a simple test log with the resin name and formulation, printer model, wavelength, layer height, exposure, lift settings, support density, washing method, and cure time. If a later print changes, that record helps isolate whether the resin, machine, supports, or post-processing changed.
Why do tiny resin parts snap or lose detail?
A failed tiny feature can come from more than one part of the workflow. The comparison axes that matter most are fine-detail sharpness, toughness, exposure window, printer wavelength compatibility, supports, washing, curing, and surface finish. Treat a failure as a reason to test one factor at a time rather than assuming the resin alone is responsible.

If features print but break during cleanup
Record where breakage happens, especially during support removal, and compare it across test prints. That is a practical way to judge whether a resin’s toughness suits the miniature’s use. Support density and removal are also variables worth tracking; do not change them at the same time as exposure if you want to identify the cause.
If edges or small marks look soft
Check that the exposure guidance matches the exact printer and layer height, then validate with a small matrix. Compare edge sharpness and dimensional accuracy under magnification. A general screen-resolution figure cannot tell you whether the resin-printer combination will reproduce a particular feature cleanly.

Include support scars in the comparison between test prints, and record support density. A miniature can reproduce small details yet still have a poor finish if supports damage visible areas. The useful choice is the setup that preserves the features you care about while remaining manageable to clean up.
If a setting that worked before stops working
Recheck the resin formulation, printer model, wavelength match, and layer height before reusing old exposure settings. Manufacturer tables may be model-specific, and current regional listings can differ from an older product reference. Re-run a small validation print when any of those inputs change.

What should I know about washing, curing, and safety?
Washing and curing are essential parts of the resin workflow, not optional finishing touches; TechRadar’s miniature-printer guide describes both as important steps. The exact handling, washing, curing, spill response, and disposal instructions depend on the product, so follow the label and the current safety data sheet (SDS) for the bottle you are using.
- Use the gloves, eye protection, and ventilation specified by the product label and SDS.
- Follow that product’s washing and curing directions rather than assuming another resin’s workflow applies.
- Use the SDS for spill response and disposal instructions.
- Before purchasing or printing, locate the current SDS for the selected bottle; product-specific safety text was not available for every candidate in the comparison.
Do not treat a resin name alone as a complete safety or process specification. Formulations and regional listings can change, so check the documentation for the actual product in hand.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow much does resin cost per usable miniature?
The available comparison does not provide directly comparable prices or a cost per usable miniature for these resins. A bottle price alone would not answer that question: usable output also depends on how much resin the model and supports consume, and how many prints pass the detail and breakage checks that matter to you.
For a meaningful comparison, use the current regional bottle price and track resin consumed, supports, failed prints, and accepted miniatures in your own workflow. Compare cost only after the validation print, because a cheaper resin that does not meet the required detail or handling standard is not necessarily cheaper per usable piece.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a 19–25 µm XY detail figure mean my miniature can print features that small?
No. The comparison reports that range as a general current-screen figure, not a resin-specific guarantee or a measured minimum feature size for your printer. The result must be checked on the actual printer and setup.
Can I reuse exposure settings from another printer using the same resin?
Treat them only as a clue, not a validated setting. Anycubic’s High Clear Resin guidance illustrates why: its manual lists different exposure values by printer model.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Should I choose a different resin for a clear miniature?
Anycubic High Clear Resin is the clear-finish option identified in this comparison, but the available information does not establish that it is sharper or tougher than the other candidates. Confirm the printer-specific guidance and test the details you need before printing the full piece.
What should I check before buying a resin I have used before?
Verify the current bottle formulation, wavelength compatibility, and regional listing. Those details affect whether an earlier setting or recommendation still applies to the product you are about to use.
