What should I play if I cannot take time off for GTA 6?

When does GTA 6 come out, and what is confirmed?
GTA 6 releases on 19 November 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The official Rockstar page says “Coming November 19, 2026” and lists only those two current-generation consoles; no PC SKU or PC date has been announced.
The game returns to Vice City and the wider Florida-like state of Leonida. Rockstar describes the leads and premise this way:

Take-Two’s Form 10-Q filed 7 August 2026 repeats the date and says pre-orders began in June 2026. The US Microsoft Store listed the Standard edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate edition at $99.99 in October 2026. Rockstar has not published an official story-length figure, so any GTA 6 hour count circulating before release is speculation.
Which game is closest to GTA 6 right now?

HowLongToBeat figures tabulated on 21 October 2026 put the story at about 32 hours, story plus extras at 51 hours and completionist play at 90 hours, excluding Online. The Steam Enhanced list price was $29.99 on 3 October 2026. It left Xbox Game Pass on 15 April 2026, so Game Pass subscribers now need to purchase it.
Closest non-Rockstar sandbox loop: Saints Row: The Third Remastered
G2A News rated The Third Remastered a 93 percent closest-overall alternative for an open city, cars, guns, criminal missions, side activities, customization and freedom to cause trouble between objectives. Its tone is absurd comedy rather than Rockstar’s social satire, but the moment-to-moment toybox is the nearest fit outside Rockstar. The campaign supports co-op, making it especially useful for a weekend with a friend.
The 2022 reboot is generally less favored in the 2026 comparisons. Volition was shut down by Embracer on 31 August 2023, and no new Saints Row is in development, so The Third Remastered is the practical entry point.

What are the best cheap open-world games for evening sessions?
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition — best grounded crime story
Sleeping Dogs combines open-world driving, martial-arts combat and an undercover story as Wei Shen inside Hong Kong’s Sun On Yee triad. Its melee is closer to the Arkham style than to GTA’s gunplay, which gives it a distinct rhythm: use counters and environmental attacks, then return to driving and investigation.

Watch Dogs 2 — best modern-city systems
Watch Dogs 2 puts Marcus Holloway and DedSec in the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco, Oakland, Marin and Silicon Valley. Ubisoft describes Marcus as “a brilliant young hacker living in the birthplace of the tech revolution, the San Francisco Bay Area.” You can hack cars, traffic lights, cranes and drones, approach missions through stealth or gadgets, and join online co-op.
G2A News calls it the closest non-Rockstar option for a contemporary American city, open missions, satire and systemic trouble. Gunplay is its weak point, so approach it as a hacking-and-stealth sandbox rather than a straight shooting game. The listed price was $49.99, with a $7.99-per-month Ubisoft+ Classics option; Steam sales can reduce it to only a few dollars. Insider Gaming reported a sale-driven jump to around 16,220 concurrent players, up more than 1,100 percent in a week, when a 95 percent discount brought it to about £2.49.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered — best low-cost co-op chaos
The Third Remastered delivers cars, weapons, criminal missions, customization and side activities with a deliberately ridiculous tone. Its campaign co-op lets two players share the story, making it a stronger short-session choice than a long solo epic. The Steam US list price was $29.99 on 3 October 2026, with frequent discounts.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 like GTA?
Cyberpunk 2077 is similar in its dense urban freedom but different in structure. Night City is a first-person RPG with skill trees, equipment builds and branching quests, not a third-person wanted-level sandbox. Should I replay Vice City before GTA 6?
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – The Definitive Edition is useful setting homework, not the strongest overall game here. Tommy Vercetti’s 1986 story gives you the neon Vice City vocabulary that GTA 6 is revisiting.
