Beast of Reincarnation’s current official patch confirms three New Game Plus carry-over categories: equipment, outfits, and skins. It does not publish a complete reset list for key items, Amber, materials, facilities, shrines, opened chests, quests, or achievement counters. Treat those categories as unresolved rather than assuming they are either wiped or preserved. Before starting, update the game, check the installed version on the title screen, record the inventory and completion states you care about, and read the in-game New Game Plus confirmation carefully.
Fictions’ cross-platform notes state: “Added support for carrying over equipment, outfits, and skins when starting New Game+.” The note applies to the current documented releases—PS5 v1.013.000, Xbox Series X|S v1.1.02, and Steam v1.1.02—listed in the official v1.1.02/v1.013.000 patch notes.

What carries over in Beast of Reincarnation NG+?
Only three categories are explicitly guaranteed by the current official notes. The wording confirms the category, but it does not enumerate every subtype, upgrade level, or exception within it.

Equipment

The publisher does not provide a public list separating weapons, upgrades, enhancement levels, or other equipment subtypes, so avoid reading more detail into the single category than it says.

Outfits and skins
Outfits and skins are named separately from equipment, which matters for players who collect appearance options rather than only combat items. The same update adds outfit changes at Campsites and through the Cleanse Walker Bed Menu, and it introduces discoverable pattern variations. Those interface additions explain where appearance options may be managed, but they are not a promise that every related collectible or unlock flag follows the same save rule.
What does the game officially say about everything else?
There is no current, publisher-issued transfer table covering every resource and progression flag. Silence in the patch notes is not evidence of a reset, and it is not evidence of carry-over. For a completion run, classify these categories as “verify in your own save” rather than making a permanent assumption.

An older PS5 walkthrough reports that key items and some narrative elements are exceptions. That is dated player guidance, not a comprehensive rule for the current cross-platform builds. The official patch notes do not define which key items, event flags, or story gates are retained, so use the walkthrough only as a warning that story-related progress may be treated differently from equipment.
The older report is available in this PS5 New Game Plus walkthrough. Its observations should not override the newer publisher wording or be generalized to every platform.
Amber, consumables, materials, skills, and facilities
The official carry-over sentence does not mention Amber, consumables, crafting materials, skills, or Walker facility progress. The same older walkthrough broadly reports carry-over that includes Walker facilities, but it does not establish a current, item-by-item guarantee. If a resource is important to your build or completion plan, write down its amount and relevant unlocks before you begin NG+ so you can compare the new run against a known baseline.

Do opened chests and shrines reset?
There is no definitive official answer. Independent player guidance reports opened chests resetting, while shrine reports conflict: one guide says discovered shrine state resets, and the older PS5 walkthrough says collectibles restore except shrines. Those accounts may describe different save states, versions, or meanings of “discovered,” so the safest answer is that neither chest nor shrine behavior is officially settled.

A chest’s opened state, a shrine’s discovery or activation state, a map icon, and an achievement counter can be stored as separate flags. Seeing a marker again does not prove that the underlying reward is repeatable, and a retained achievement does not prove that the associated location remains completed. Do not promise yourself a second unique reward or assume that every visible icon represents the same reset event.
How should I protect a completion-focused run before starting NG+?
Use a reversible, evidence-based preparation routine. It cannot create a backup feature that the game or platform does not provide, but it reduces the chance that an undocumented reset surprises you.
- Finish the current run’s checklist. Note equipment, outfits, skins, Amber, materials, skills, Walker facilities, key items, shrine status, opened chests, quest-specific progress, and any counters you care about.
- Keep the existing clear save when your platform permits it. The publisher does not document a universal backup mechanism, so do not overwrite a valuable save until you have read the transition screen and decided that the risk is acceptable.
- Capture the exact version. Record the platform identifier shown on the title screen, not just the date on which you installed the game.
- Read the New Game Plus confirmation in full. If it names additional carry-over or reset categories, treat that in-game wording as the most immediate instruction for your build.
- Compare after the transition. Check the retained equipment, outfits, and skins first, then compare the other categories with your notes. A difference is useful evidence about your version, but it should not be generalized into an official rule for every platform.
Which version should I be on before relying on NG+ behavior?
Install the latest available update for your platform and verify the number at the bottom-right of the title screen. Fictions’ notes identify PS5 v1.013.000, Xbox Series X|S v1.1.02, and Steam v1.1.02. A separate GAME FREAK/Happinet announcement dated October 26, 2026 displays slightly different Xbox and Steam formatting—1.1.2.0—so the title-screen identifier is more useful than trying to force every storefront’s notation into one format.
The patch notes say physical and digital copies should download updates when launched, although timing can vary by platform. If your title screen shows another version, do not assume the documented carry-over behavior is identical until that build receives the relevant update.

For readers in Japan or Asia, Happinet documents a PS5 packaged edition on its official product page. That establishes a regional physical release, not a verified US-market disc or US retailer offer. A physical copy still needs its platform update before you rely on current NG+ rules.
Can I change Reincarnation+ difficulty?
Yes. The v1.1.00/v1.011.000 notes say the default Reincarnation+ setting corresponds to Normal, with Hard, Very Hard, and Ruthless also available, and they state that difficulty can change during play. This replaces older claims that NG+ is locked to one unavoidable difficulty.
Choose the setting that matches your goal rather than treating the default as a permanent commitment. A player learning enemy patterns may begin at the default and adjust later; a challenge run can select a higher setting without having to restart solely because the initial choice was wrong. The exact menu wording can depend on your current build, so follow the options shown in-game.
Should I choose Hasten to the Capital or Mountain Route?
Choose Mountain Route when you need access to achievements tied to the zones that the shortcut bypasses. After Great Wall Terraces, Hasten to the Capital skips Pilgrim’s Zone, Matsukawa Colony Zone, and Fuji Frontier Zone. The official route notes say achievements obtainable in those zones cannot be earned on a New Game run that skips them, while an NG+ run can still earn them by choosing Mountain Route.

The shortcut is therefore a route decision, not a save-transfer setting. It does not change the official equipment, outfit, or skin carry-over statement, but it can change which opportunities remain available during that run.

Which NG+ bugs and replay changes matter on the current patch?
Earlier reports need to be dated because later updates changed replay behavior. The v1.1.01/v1.012.000 notes say an issue preventing acquisition of the Keeper Golem’s Manual: Explosive Arrow in NG+ was fixed. A pre-fix account that says the manual cannot be obtained should not be presented as current behavior.
A later September update also made almost all event scenes and cutscenes skippable and stopped previously viewed Tips from appearing from NG+ onward. The notes still preserve a small number of unskippable scenes, so “all scenes can be skipped” is too broad. Expect a faster repeat run, but follow the prompts in your installed version rather than assuming every sequence has a skip option.

The defensible answer has three layers. First, equipment, outfits, and skins are explicitly supported for carry-over in the current official cross-platform notes. Second, the publisher has not supplied a complete reset table for key items, Amber, materials, facilities, shrines, chests, quests, or achievement counters. Third, older and independent guides provide useful warnings but disagree in places and cannot turn an undocumented category into a universal rule.
That distinction is especially important for achievement planning. An achievement already recorded on your platform is not the same thing as a map marker, an opened chest, or a route opportunity to earn another achievement. Keep your clear save where possible, choose Mountain Route for the three-zone achievement access, and verify the title-screen version before starting.
New Game Plus preflight checklist
- Update the game and confirm the installed version at the title screen.
- Confirm that the build is one of the versions covered by the current Fictions notes, or treat behavior as unverified.
- Record equipment, outfits, skins, and any resources or counters that matter to you.
- Retain the existing clear save if your platform allows a separate copy.
- Read the in-game NG+ confirmation instead of relying on an old guide.
- Select Mountain Route if you need Pilgrim’s Zone, Matsukawa Colony Zone, or Fuji Frontier Zone achievements.
- Choose a Reincarnation+ difficulty with the knowledge that it can be changed during play.
- After starting, compare the new run against your record before spending or discarding anything valuable.

Does starting New Game Plus overwrite my completed run?
The published patch notes do not specify whether the transition overwrites a clear save or creates a separate slot. Preserve the existing run whenever your platform permits it, and treat the confirmation screen as the authoritative instruction for your installed build.
Are shrine discovery and shrine activation the same saved state?
No official source defines those terms as one flag. Conflicting player reports may be describing different shrine states, so a returning icon or restored collectible cannot by itself prove what was reset.

What does “ninth post-launch update” mean for future patches?
It is the publisher’s ordinal label for that update, not a performance statistic. The announcement says the regularly scheduled cadence is ending; it does not state that every future fix or support activity is impossible.
Is the documented PS5 physical edition a US release?
Happinet documents a Japan-and-Asia packaged PS5 edition. That page does not verify a US-market disc or a US retailer offer, so regional availability should be checked separately.
