Bad Ice Cream Triple Scoop is announced for Nintendo Switch, but it is not available yet. As of October 30, 2026, Nitrome has given the collection no release date, launch window or price. The Switch version is confirmed for local play with one to four players using wireless controllers. The trilogy remaster also promises remodeled stages, wider arenas, new themes, additional levels, enemies, traps, bosses, rare fruits and unlockable frozen characters or flavors. The details many Switch owners need most—button assignments, Joy-Con rules, online play, cross-play and the game’s own save options—have not been published. This guide separates confirmed features from details that remain open.
Is Bad Ice Cream Triple Scoop on Nintendo Switch yet?
No. Nitrome Limited has announced Bad Ice Cream Triple Scoop for Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam, but the game remains unreleased. Steam lists it as “Coming soon,” and Nitrome has not announced a release date or launch window.

What is included in the Triple Scoop collection?
Triple Scoop combines all three numbered Bad Ice-Cream games instead of releasing a single sequel. Nitrome describes the package as an ultimate collection with the original trilogy remastered or remodeled and expanded with new content.

The original trilogy
Every level from Bad Ice-Cream 1, Bad Ice-Cream 2 and Bad Ice-Cream 3 is planned for the collection. The announcement does not say whether the original stages will be selectable exactly as they appeared in the browser games or only through updated versions, so the safest expectation is a remastered presentation of the complete trilogy rather than an untouched archival release.
New stages and hazards
The announced additions include wider arenas, new visual themes, brand-new levels, new enemies, traps, boss encounters, rare fruits and unlockable frozen characters or flavors. Nitrome has not published the number of new stages, bosses, enemy types, traps or unlockable flavors. “More content” is confirmed; a precise completion count is not.
What the game is about
Each stage is a fast fruit-collection puzzle-action challenge. You create and shatter ice barriers, then use those walls to block, trap or smash enemies while collecting the required fruit. Wider arenas and additional hazards should give the remaster more room for route planning, crowd control and cooperative improvisation, but the final stage rules and boss behavior have not been detailed.
Nitrome’s 2026 Steam description calls the original arcade classic a game with “over 100 million plays.” That number is a publisher-supplied figure, not an independently audited statistic.
How many players can use the Switch version?
The announced Nintendo Switch mode supports one to four players on the same console with wireless controllers. That confirms local multiplayer, but it does not yet define the exact controller combination for four people.
What one to four players means in practice
- One player: Solo play is covered by the announced range.
- Two to four players: Same-system local play is confirmed at the feature level.
- Wireless controllers: Nitrome has confirmed controller support, but not a specific accessory model.
- Joy-Con assignment: It is not confirmed whether one detached Joy-Con can serve as one player’s controller.
- Mode coverage: Nitrome has not stated whether every campaign, bonus stage and boss encounter accepts four players.
Do not assume that four separate Joy-Cons, four complete controller pairs or any particular Nintendo accessory setup will work until the final Switch documentation says so.

What the Steam version lists
The Steam listing identifies single-player, shared-screen co-op, shared-screen player-versus-player, controller support, Steam Remote Play Together, Steam Cloud and achievements. These are PC listing features. They should not be transferred to the Switch version unless Nitrome makes a separate announcement.
| Feature | Switch | Steam listing |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player | Within the announced one-to-four-player range | Listed |
| Same-screen local co-op | Announced for one to four players | Listed as shared-screen co-op |
| Shared-screen PvP | Not separately described | Listed |
| Wireless/controller support | Wireless-controller support announced | Controller support listed |
| Remote online play | Not announced | Steam Remote Play Together listed |
| Cloud saves | Game-specific support not documented | Steam Cloud listed |
| Achievements | Not announced | Listed |
What Nintendo Switch controls are confirmed?
Nitrome has confirmed wireless-controller support for one to four Switch players, and the game design requires movement, fruit collection, ice creation and ice breaking. It has not released the final button map.
Details still missing
- The button used to create an ice barrier.
- The button used to break or shatter ice.
- Whether movement and actions use the same control scheme in every mode.
- Whether controls can be remapped in the Switch version.
- Whether handheld mode supports multiplayer with detached controllers.
- Whether one Joy-Con per player is supported.
- Whether the original browser keyboard layout has any equivalent on Switch.
For now, the accurate description is: “Nitrome has confirmed wireless-controller support for one to four players, but has not yet published the final Switch button map or Joy-Con rules.” A controller listing or review that assigns specific buttons before Nitrome publishes them is guessing.
Does Bad Ice Cream Triple Scoop have online multiplayer or cross-play?
Neither feature has been announced for Switch. The current Switch information confirms same-system local multiplayer only; it does not confirm Nintendo Switch Online matchmaking, dedicated servers, invite-based online rooms or cross-play with Steam.

Steam Remote Play Together is listed for the PC version, but that feature does not establish an equivalent Switch service. Likewise, Steam Cloud does not imply Nintendo cloud backup, and no account-linking or cross-save system between Switch and Steam has been announced. Treat the two platforms as separate until Nitrome publishes different guidance.
How does save data work on Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo’s platform guidance says Switch game save data is stored in the console’s System Memory, not on a microSD card. That is the platform rule; Triple Scoop’s own save-slot and autosave design has not yet been documented because the game is unreleased.

What is known about Switch storage
- Save data is stored in System Memory.
- Save data cannot be copied to a microSD card.
- Save data is generally associated with the individual Switch user selected on the console.
- Use the same user profile when returning to the game if you want to access that profile’s progress.
What happens if you archive or delete the download?
Nintendo says archiving or deleting downloaded software does not delete its associated save data. You can redownload the software and resume the stored progress, provided the save remains on the console and you select the same user.
What is not documented yet?
Nitrome has not specified the number of Triple Scoop save slots, whether progress autosaves between stages, whether there is a manual save command, how local multiplayer progress is assigned, or which Nintendo backup features the game will support. Do not claim that Switch cloud backup is available merely because Steam lists Steam Cloud for the PC edition.

What should buyers know about price, format and performance?
There is no announced Switch price, launch date or physical edition. A boxed cartridge or limited physical release may become possible later, but no such edition is confirmed now. Avoid pre-ordering from a listing that supplies its own date or price without an announcement from Nitrome or Nintendo.
Nitrome describes the remastered presentation as running at 60 FPS. That is a publisher specification, not a result from an independent benchmark, and it does not establish resolution, frame-rate stability in every mode or parity between Switch and Steam.
How should I prepare for local multiplayer?
You can prepare the room and controllers now, but wait for the final instructions before buying a specific quantity or type of controller.
- Plan for same-system play. The confirmed Switch feature is local multiplayer on one console, not online matchmaking.
- Have compatible wireless controllers available. Nitrome has not confirmed whether detached Joy-Cons, paired Joy-Cons or another arrangement will be required for each player.
- Keep the final player count flexible. Four-player support is announced, but the exact setup and whether every mode allows four players remain unspecified.
- Use separate Switch users when appropriate. Nintendo generally associates saves with the selected user, so choose the intended profile before starting a session.
- Check the final listing before launch. Confirm the button map, controller compatibility, online policy, price and any physical format from the finished Nintendo listing or Nitrome’s instructions.
Which details should you wait for before deciding?
The current announcement is enough to establish what kind of package Triple Scoop is, but not enough to answer every purchase question. The most important pending details are:

Those omissions are publication gaps, not evidence that the features are absent. The responsible reading is simply that Nitrome has not announced them yet.

Can I play the original Bad Ice-Cream browser versions on Switch?
The announced package contains all levels from the trilogy in a remastered or remodeled collection. Nitrome has not said that the original browser builds will be included as separate, untouched versions, so expect the modernized collection rather than a browser emulator.
Will I need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription?
No subscription requirement has been announced because Switch online functionality itself has not been confirmed. A Nintendo Switch Online membership should not be treated as necessary or sufficient until Nitrome documents an online mode.
Can two people share one pair of Joy-Cons?
The announcement confirms wireless controllers but does not state whether each detached Joy-Con can be used independently. Wait for the final controller guide before assuming a single pair can serve two players.
Can I move my progress from one Switch user to another?
Nintendo generally associates saves with the user who created them, so changing users normally means accessing a different profile’s data. Triple Scoop’s own transfer and save-management behavior has not been published.
What should I check on launch day?
Look for the final Nintendo eShop listing and Nitrome’s release notes for the price, supported controller combinations, multiplayer scope, save and backup details, and any physical-edition announcement. Those sources should settle the points that remain unconfirmed in October 2026.
