Bad Ice-Cream Resort is not available yet. As of October 30, 2026, Nitrome lists it as coming soon on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam, with no release date announced. The announced plan is a one-to-four-player local cooperative campaign and a separate one-to-four-player competitive Battle Mode. On PC, Nitrome says two players can share one keyboard or use wireless controllers; Switch controller arrangements and exact join steps have not been specified. Nitrome’s Steam listing is a wishlist page, not a purchase or a verified setup guide.

How can you play Bad Ice-Cream Resort with friends locally?

When it releases, the advertised local options are a cooperative campaign or competitive Battle Mode, each for one to four players. The game is still unreleased, so there are no verified retail menus, controller prompts, or step-by-step join instructions to follow yet. The practical answer today is a planning guide: choose the platform, understand the announced input options, and wait for the launch build to confirm the details that Nitrome has not published.

  1. Check that the game is released for your platform. Nitrome’s Steam page currently says “Coming soon” and offers a wishlist. The announced platforms are PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch; no launch date is listed. For Switch, check the Nintendo listing for your region when one appears. A store page in one country may not establish availability, price, language support, or release timing in another. Steam listing · Gematsu’s October 2026 announcement report
  2. Choose a platform and arrange inputs. On PC, Nitrome advertises support for two players sharing one keyboard and for wireless gamepads. On Switch, the number and type of controllers per player have not been confirmed. Wait for the released game’s prompts or official instructions rather than assuming a sideways Joy-Con, a pair of Joy-Con, or a particular controller count will work.
  3. Select a mode in the released game. The announced choices are the cooperative campaign and Battle Mode. Follow the actual game’s on-screen player-join prompts; Nitrome has not published the menu path, key bindings, or join sequence in the current listing.
  4. For people playing remotely on PC, check Steam Remote Play Together. Steam lists the feature for Resort, which is intended to let remote guests join a local-play session. This is not confirmation of native Switch online multiplayer or Switch–PC cross-play.

What is confirmed about local play on PC?

Nitrome explicitly advertises two ways to play together on PC: two players can share one keyboard, or players can use wireless controllers. These are useful planning choices, but they are developer-announced features rather than a verified walkthrough of a released build. The listing does not give default key assignments, explain how a second player joins, or state which keyboard-and-controller combinations can be mixed.

Two players sharing one keyboard

The shared-keyboard option means two PC players do not have to buy separate controllers. It is the clearest announced no-extra-hardware setup. The exact keys each player will use have not been published, however. Once the game is available, check its input settings, tutorial, or on-screen prompts. Do not rely on key maps for another Bad Ice-Cream title: a familiar control scheme would still not prove that Resort uses the same keys.

For a comfortable session, plan where both players can reach the keyboard without blocking one another. A full-size keyboard may be easier to share than a compact laptop layout, but Nitrome has not stated a hardware requirement or recommended keyboard model. If the final game permits remapping, each player can use the settings that feel natural; if it does not, the launch prompts will be the authority. Avoid treating a third-party key chart as official until Nitrome publishes one.

Using wireless controllers

Nitrome’s Steam listing advertises full wireless-controller support. It does not identify tested controller models, say whether wired devices are also supported, or spell out how many controllers can be combined with a keyboard. Those omissions matter for a three- or four-person group: “controller support” is not a published promise that every brand, adapter, or mixed-input arrangement will work.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

After launch, pair controllers with the operating system and confirm that each device appears in the game’s input screen before starting a campaign. If a controller is not recognized, check the game’s own instructions and the current Steam listing rather than assuming a particular device is supported. A wireless PC game controller is an optional accessory, not a required purchase for the two-player shared-keyboard plan.

PC requirements and listing details

The Steam listing gives Windows 10 and macOS 12 as minimum operating-system entries, alongside 4 GB RAM and 4 GB available storage. These are the currently listed requirements for the Steam version, not a guarantee that every older computer will run the final game identically. Nitrome may revise them before release, so recheck the store page when the game becomes available and install any required operating-system updates.

Steam lists 13 interface languages for that version. That figure applies to the listed PC release and does not establish language support for a Switch edition. Nitrome also advertises 60 FPS gameplay. That is promotional performance language, not an independently measured frame-rate result and not a separately verified Switch specification. Do not use the number as a promise that every PC or Switch configuration will hold 60 frames per second.

How does Steam Remote Play Together fit local multiplayer?

Steam’s Resort listing says Remote Play Together can let remote guests participate in a local-play session. In practical terms, the host runs the PC game and invites friends through Steam, while the session is treated as local multiplayer by the game. The listing does not provide a final-build invitation sequence, latency target, supported guest count, or a test result, so those details must be confirmed after release.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Remote Play Together is separate from native online multiplayer. It should not be described as a dedicated online mode, and it does not establish that a Switch owner can join a Steam session. It also does not establish Switch–PC cross-play. If your group is in different homes, plan around the PC Steam feature only, and wait for official instructions about account, controller, voice-chat, or invitation requirements.

How does local multiplayer on Switch work?

Switch is an announced platform, but the available Resort information does not specify the Joy-Con arrangement, the controller count per player, or the join procedure. Nintendo’s general family guidance says local-play requirements vary by game, so general Switch conventions cannot establish Resort’s exact setup.

After a regional Nintendo listing or official instructions become available, check the controller details there and follow the game’s on-screen setup. Until then, there is no reliable basis to say that one sideways Joy-Con is enough for a player, that each person needs a pair, or how many extra controllers a four-player session would require. Nintendo notes: “Multiplayer features vary by game; see individual games for details.”

That uncertainty also affects shopping. Extra Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers may be needed for a compatible local game, but Resort has not established how many are necessary or whether a single Joy-Con works. Do not buy a specific number solely from the one-to-four-player announcement. Keep receipts and verify the Nintendo listing or Nitrome’s instructions first.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Nor does the Switch announcement establish online play or cross-play with PC. Steam’s Remote Play Together entry applies to a PC local-play session; it should not be read as a promise that Switch players can join remotely or play with Steam users.

What is the difference between the campaign and Battle Mode?

The campaign is cooperative: players progress through branching tracks, bosses, and short challenges. Battle Mode is competitive, with arenas Nitrome says unlock through campaign progress. The developer advertises one to four participants for each mode; these are announced limits, not a confirmed result from a released game.

Cooperative campaign

Nitrome says layouts change and monsters are added according to the number of players. That suggests the campaign is designed to adapt to a group rather than simply placing extra characters into an unchanged solo layout. The listing does not detail how each level scales, whether every branch is available to every group size, or how bosses change. Treat those as launch questions, not settled mechanics.

The advertised structure includes branching tracks, bosses, and short challenges. A group choosing the campaign should expect progression through a sequence rather than an isolated versus match, but the announcement does not state how saving, drop-in play, or player departure will work. Do not assume that a player can join halfway through a level or that campaign progress is shared between local and Remote Play Together sessions until the released interface explains it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Competitive Battle Mode

In its description of Battle Mode, Nitrome says players can trap enemies in ice, stun them against walls, and use arena hazards. Toppings are described as weapon pickups, while Additives are permanent stat buffs. These are advertised mechanics, not independently verified strategies, balance findings, or a promise that every arena contains every item.

Because arenas unlock through campaign progress, players may need to make campaign progress before every competitive arena is available. The announcement does not say whether one player’s save unlocks arenas for everyone, whether a solo campaign is enough, or how local profiles are handled. If your group wants immediate versus play, check the launch screen for the actual unlock requirements rather than assuming all arenas are open from the start.

Which platform or setup should you plan for?

For two PC players who want a confirmed no-controller option, the shared-keyboard plan is the clearest announced setup. For a larger PC group, wireless controllers are the advertised route, but the number of supported devices and mixed-input combinations still need confirmation. For Switch, wait for game-specific controller instructions before buying extra Joy-Con solely for Resort. For friends outside the room, Steam Remote Play Together is listed for PC, but it does not confirm a Switch online option.

Setup What Nitrome currently advertises What remains unspecified
PC, shared keyboard Two players can share one keyboard. Default keys, join sequence, remapping, and supported keyboard-plus-controller combinations.
PC, wireless controllers Wireless gamepad support. Specific controller models, wired-device behavior, maximum controller count, and mixed-input arrangements.
Nintendo Switch Switch is an announced platform; local multiplayer is advertised for Resort. Joy-Con allocation, controller count, sideways Joy-Con support, profile behavior, and join steps.
Remote PC guests Steam lists Remote Play Together for joining a local-play session. Final-build behavior, invitation details, latency experience, and any corresponding Switch online or cross-play feature.

Do not assume feature parity across platforms. The PC listing is more specific about input and Remote Play Together than the available Switch information. A Switch store page may later add details that are not present on Steam, while a PC feature may not appear on the console edition. Compare the final regional listings rather than copying a PC specification into a Switch buying decision.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

What will the game cost, and what should you buy?

No Resort price is established in the current Steam listing, and the page offers a wishlist rather than a purchase. There is no verified cartridge, boxed PC edition, or game-specific physical bundle. Do not treat an online marketplace listing, an unverified preorder, or a rumored price as official.

The only sensible accessory planning is conditional. Two PC players can use the announced shared-keyboard option without buying controllers. A wireless PC game controller is optional if that setup is more comfortable. On Switch, extra Joy-Con may be needed for compatible local games in general, but Resort’s exact requirement is unknown. Wait for the Nintendo listing or Nitrome’s instructions before spending money on additional controllers.

The Steam page links toward a Kickstarter project destination, and an October 27 report describes a forthcoming campaign. That does not establish reward tiers, a physical edition, a price, or an affiliate arrangement. Steam’s wishlist is an editorial destination for release updates, not evidence of a commission program. No supported Outbyte repair scenario or meaningful StreamNeo service fit emerges from this announcement, so neither should be presented as part of the game’s setup or purchase path.

Is Bad Ice-Cream Resort the same as Bad Ice-Cream Triple Scoop?

No. Resort is an unreleased standalone sequel, while Bad Ice-Cream Triple Scoop is a separately announced remastered trilogy. A guide, store listing, control map, or feature description for Triple Scoop is not evidence of Resort’s controls, menus, or multiplayer setup.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Nitrome’s Steam listing says the original browser trilogy has more than 100 million plays. That is a developer-published historical claim, not an independently audited count and not a Resort player count. It gives context for the series’ audience but should not be used to infer launch sales, active players, or multiplayer matchmaking.

Common planning mistakes to avoid

  • Buying before a price exists. A wishlist page is not a purchase listing, and no official price has been supplied.
  • Assuming the game is already playable. “Coming soon” means there is no final menu or control flow to test today.
  • Copying controls from another title. Resort’s default keys and join prompts have not been published.
  • Assuming one Joy-Con works. Nintendo says requirements vary by game; Resort’s per-player layout remains unconfirmed.
  • Confusing Remote Play Together with cross-play. The listed Steam feature concerns a PC local session and does not prove Switch participation.
  • Promising four controllers without checking. One-to-four-player advertising does not identify the hardware needed for four people.
  • Treating 60 FPS as a benchmark. It is an advertised target, not an independent measurement on every platform.
  • Assuming every Battle arena is open immediately. Nitrome says arenas unlock through campaign progress.

Launch-day checklist

When Nitrome announces a release, confirm the date and regional availability first. On PC, reread the Steam requirements, install the official version, and look for the input settings before inviting anyone. Test the shared keyboard with two players, then test each wireless controller separately if you are using gamepads. If you plan to use Remote Play Together, verify the invitation flow and whether the final game accepts the intended guest inputs.

On Switch, read the Nintendo listing for the exact controller diagram and local-player limit, then follow the in-game join prompt. Confirm whether a sideways Joy-Con is supported, whether each player needs a pair, and how additional controllers are assigned. For either platform, check whether the campaign and Battle Mode expose the same player count, whether Battle arenas are locked, and whether progress belongs to one profile or the group.

How we assessed the available setup details

This guide distinguishes Nitrome’s announced features from instructions that can only be confirmed in a released game. The Steam listing is the primary source for PC input, advertised modes, Remote Play Together, and listed PC requirements; Nintendo platform guidance supplies general context, not Resort-specific controller instructions. No final-build control mapping, menu sequence, or platform parity is inferred from another game in the series.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Steam version support macOS?

The Steam listing currently includes macOS 12 as a minimum operating-system entry. Check the listing again at release in case the platform details or requirements change.

Can two people play Bad Ice-Cream Resort on one keyboard?

Does Bad Ice-Cream Resort have four-player co-op?

Nitrome advertises a one-to-four-player cooperative campaign. That is the announced player range; a released build has not yet confirmed how the setup works in practice.

How much will Bad Ice-Cream Resort cost?

No official price is currently listed. Steam offers a wishlist rather than a purchase, and no verified physical edition or cartridge price is available.

Are Battle Mode arenas available immediately?

Nitrome says arenas unlock through campaign progress. The announcement does not explain the exact unlock milestones or whether one player’s progress applies to everyone.

The Bottom Line

Bad Ice-Cream Resort is planned for one-to-four-player local co-op and Battle Mode on Switch and PC, but it is still unreleased. PC players have the clearest announced options—two people on one keyboard, wireless controllers, and Steam Remote Play Together. Switch controller counts, join steps, pricing, release timing, and cross-play remain unconfirmed, so verify the final listings before buying hardware or promising a particular setup.
