Verdict: The Audio Pro C5 MKII W is a compact, mains-powered network speaker for listeners who want Wi‑Fi streaming, AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth and multi-room playback in a single cabinet. It is not a battery speaker, a TV soundbar, or a conventional stereo system by itself. Its useful extras are an RCA line input and a subwoofer output; its biggest constraints are the lack of HDMI, optical, Ethernet and battery power, plus the fact that proper left-right stereo requires two C5 units. Buy it for flexible home streaming and compact placement, provided your region’s service support and the exact “C5 MkII W” variant check out.
What is the Audio Pro C5 MKII W?
The C5 MKII W is a small home speaker built around network streaming rather than portability. Audio Pro lists Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, its own multi-room platform, Apple AirPlay and AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and direct support for services including Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music. Availability of a service or feature can vary with country, app version and subscription, so the list on the official US product page should be checked against the region in which you will use it.

The product name is easy to misread. Audio Pro’s current US listing calls it “C5 MkII W,” while retailers and older coverage may call it “Addon C5 MKII” or omit the W. Confirm the suffix, color and regional listing before ordering; do not assume every “C5 MKII” page describes exactly the same package.
At 130 × 250 × 150 mm and 2.4 kg, it is sized for a shelf, desk, bedside table or kitchen counter rather than a backpack. It needs a wall outlet and comes with a power cable. There is no battery specification because it is not a battery-powered portable model.

What are the C5 MKII’s key specifications?
These are the manufacturer’s stated hardware and network specifications. The frequency-response figure sometimes shown by retailers is listed separately because Audio Pro’s current product page marks that field as TBA.
| Specification | Audio Pro C5 MKII W | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Drivers | 1 × 4-inch coated-paper woofer; 2 × ¾-inch soft/textile-dome tweeters | A three-driver, single-cabinet design; it does not create a normal left and right stereo pair on its own. |
| Amplifier power | 2 × 8 W + 25 W | The manufacturer’s stated amplifier arrangement, not a guarantee of a particular room volume or bass level. |
| Wireless network | Wi‑Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz | Both common home Wi‑Fi bands are listed. |
| Bluetooth | Bluetooth 4.2 | Useful for direct playback when you do not want to configure network streaming. |
| Streaming resolution | Up to 24-bit/96 kHz | A supported maximum. A service, subscription, app or individual track may deliver a lower format. |
| Inputs and outputs | One RCA line input; one subwoofer output | RCA covers a line-level source; the subwoofer socket allows a compatible powered subwoofer category to be considered. |
| HDMI/ARC | Not listed by Audio Pro | Do not buy it expecting a one-cable television connection. |
| Optical input | Not listed by Audio Pro | Optical-only sources need another converter or a different speaker. |
| Ethernet | Not listed by Audio Pro | Network use is wireless according to the listed specification. |
| Battery | None listed; power cable supplied | Plan for a permanent mains connection. |
| Dimensions | 130 × 250 × 150 mm | Check shelf depth and cable clearance, not just the front width. |
| Weight | 2.4 kg | Light enough to move around a room, but not designed as travel audio. |
| Frequency response | Official page: TBA; Currys lists 50–20,000 Hz | The 50–20,000 Hz figure is a retailer specification, not a settled current manufacturer figure. See the discrepancy below. |
Currys currently displays a 50–20,000 Hz range for the black C5 MKII W, but Audio Pro’s own page leaves frequency response as TBA. Treat the retailer number as an attributed listing rather than a laboratory result or an official performance guarantee; the discrepancy is visible on the Currys product page.

How does wireless streaming work?
The C5 MKII’s main reason to exist is networked playback. Once it is on your home Wi‑Fi, compatible music apps and platform features can send audio without keeping your phone next to the speaker. Bluetooth provides a simpler direct path when network setup is inconvenient.
Wi‑Fi streaming and multi-room
The listed 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi‑Fi support gives the speaker access to the two bands used by most modern home routers. Wi‑Fi is the route to Audio Pro multi-room playback and to network ecosystems such as AirPlay 2 and Google Cast. It is also the appropriate connection when you want a speaker to remain available to several household users rather than handing playback control to one nearby Bluetooth device.
Multi-room and stereo are different functions. Multi-room sends the same or coordinated playback to speakers in separate rooms. A stereo pair assigns left and right channels to two compatible C5 cabinets. One C5 remains one cabinet even when it is part of a multi-room group.
AirPlay, Google Cast and service support
AirPlay and AirPlay 2 are listed, as is Google Cast. That gives households using Apple or Google devices a way to select the speaker from supported apps, but it does not mean every app exposes identical controls. The manufacturer also names Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music. Country restrictions, account tiers and app updates can change what appears in your setup, so verify the services you actually pay for before purchase.

Bluetooth is the fallback when you want to play a podcast, a locally stored file or an app that is not integrated with the network platform. Tom’s Guide reports that Bluetooth pairing was more straightforward than Wi‑Fi setup in its hands-on use. That is a reviewer’s experience, not a promise that every phone, router or first-time installation will behave identically.

What physical connections does it have?
The C5 MKII W keeps wired expansion focused: one RCA line input and one subwoofer output. There is no HDMI/ARC, optical input or Ethernet connection listed by Audio Pro.
RCA line input
The RCA input accepts a line-level analogue source such as a CD player, streamer, computer interface or television with a suitable analogue output. Tom’s Guide also identifies turntable use as an option. For a turntable, the signal must already be at line level—either because the deck has a built-in phono stage or because an external phono preamp is inserted—rather than connecting a low-level cartridge output directly.
Because there is only one RCA input, switching between several wired sources means physically changing cables or using an external selector. If most of your listening is wireless, that limitation is unlikely to matter; if you are building a small stack of analogue components, count the available inputs before buying.
Subwoofer output
The subwoofer output is useful if you want to add low-frequency support later. The specification does not verify a particular subwoofer model, crossover behaviour or maximum level, so treat this as compatibility at the category level: look for a powered subwoofer with an RCA or LFE-style line input and confirm the connection and control requirements in both manuals.
What is missing for television use?
HDMI/ARC and optical are not listed. That means the C5 MKII is not a straightforward soundbar replacement for a television that expects an optical cable or HDMI audio-return connection. Some televisions can transmit audio over Bluetooth, but compatibility, delay and codec support depend on the television; do not buy this speaker on the assumption that every TV will pair cleanly.
Can one C5 MKII speaker play stereo?
It can play music from a single cabinet, but a conventional left-right stereo image requires two C5 MKII speakers. Tom’s Guide used two units for stereo linking. The single speaker’s two tweeters and woofer are arranged within one enclosure; they are not separate left and right cabinets positioned across the room.
That distinction affects both expectations and budget. One unit is appropriate for background listening, a desk, a kitchen or a small room where compactness matters more than a wide soundstage. Two units let you position one on each side of a listening area and use the platform’s stereo-link function, assuming the regional app and firmware expose that feature.

Do not confuse stereo linking with multi-room grouping. A pair in one room is intended to divide left and right channels; a group across rooms is intended to distribute playback around the home. The exact controls depend on the Audio Pro software version, so update the app and speaker firmware before judging the available modes.
How do you set up the C5 MKII W?
Setup is mostly a software and network task. The following sequence keeps the first installation predictable while leaving Bluetooth available if Wi‑Fi becomes troublesome.
- Choose the location. Put the cabinet on a stable surface with ventilation around it and access to a mains outlet. Leave enough room to reach the rear RCA and subwoofer connections if you plan to use them.
- Connect power. Attach the supplied power cable and switch on the speaker. Because there is no battery, this outlet remains part of normal operation.
- Install the current Audio Pro control software for your region. Use the app version offered for your phone’s operating system and follow its add-speaker or setup flow. The exact screen names can change with app updates.
- Select your home network. Choose the intended 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi‑Fi network and enter its password. Keep the phone near the speaker and avoid switching between a guest network and the main network during setup.
- Wait for confirmation. Allow the speaker to finish joining the network before closing the app. If a firmware update is offered, keep the power connected until it completes.
- Test one network source. Start with a service or casting method you already use, then test AirPlay, Google Cast or multi-room controls as relevant to your household.
- Pair Bluetooth separately if needed. Open the phone’s Bluetooth settings, select the C5 MKII and play a short track. This gives you a direct alternative if you do not need network features.
- Add a second unit only after the first works. Configure each speaker individually, then use the stereo-link or grouping control. Naming rooms clearly helps prevent sending audio to the wrong cabinet.
Tom’s Guide reports that Wi‑Fi setup required trial and error in its test, while Bluetooth was more straightforward. If your experience differs, that can reflect router security settings, band steering, phone permissions, firmware or regional software rather than a universal fault with every C5 MKII.
What should you check when Wi‑Fi setup fails?
Start with the simplest causes before resetting anything. A speaker that works over Bluetooth but will not join Wi‑Fi usually points to network configuration rather than an audio-driver problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Confirm the network band and password. The specification lists both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, but some routers hide one band behind a combined name. Temporarily selecting the band shown by the setup app can make diagnosis easier.
- Disable guest-network isolation for setup. Guest networks may prevent a phone and speaker from discovering each other even when both have internet access.
- Keep the phone on the same network. If the phone changes to mobile data or another access point during setup, discovery can stop.
- Check permissions. Mobile operating systems may require local-network or nearby-device permission before an app can find a speaker.
- Move the speaker temporarily. Install it close to the router first, then move it to the final room after the update and initial test.
- Use Bluetooth as a diagnostic. Successful Bluetooth playback confirms that the speaker powers on and can reproduce audio, even though it does not prove the Wi‑Fi radio or account setup is correct.
- Restart in a controlled order. Close the app, restart the router if necessary, power-cycle the speaker, then reopen the app. Avoid repeated factory resets until you have recorded the network name and any room or stereo-pair settings.
If the app still cannot discover the speaker, consult the current regional support instructions rather than applying a reset sequence copied from an older “Addon C5” guide. The W suffix and firmware generation matter when menu labels differ.
How much sound can you infer from the hardware?
The official information establishes the driver layout, amplifier rating and maximum streaming format, but it does not establish a measured bass extension, maximum sound-pressure level, distortion figure or controlled tonal balance. The 4-inch woofer and compact cabinet explain why this is a small-room product, yet they cannot by themselves prove how deep or loud it will sound in your room.
Tom’s Guide’s surfaced review provides hands-on setup observations and confirms the stereo-pair requirement, but the available extract does not provide enough measured listening detail to support claims about bass depth, treble character, maximum volume or superiority over a named competitor. Treat any retailer description or marketing phrase as less informative than an independent, fully documented listening test.

The stated 24-bit/96 kHz capability is similarly a ceiling, not a sonic guarantee. A compatible stream can still be mastered at a different resolution, compressed by the service, altered by the app or limited by the source device. Resolution alone should not decide between this speaker and another model.
Is the C5 MKII suitable for your room and listening habits?
Use the following scenarios to match the design to a real setup rather than to a specification sheet.
It fits a desk, shelf or kitchen
The 130 × 250 × 150 mm footprint and 2.4 kg weight make the speaker easy to place on furniture that cannot accommodate a full stereo system. It is substantial enough to stay put during normal use but easy to move between rooms when the power cable is available.
It suits households invested in network playback
AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth and the named streaming services cover the main ways phones and tablets send music around a home. Multi-room support is valuable when you want coordinated playback in more than one room, provided every account and service is available in your country.
It is less suitable for a cable-heavy hi-fi system
One RCA input is convenient for a single analogue source but restrictive for multiple components. The absence of Ethernet may also matter in a room where wireless coverage is unreliable or where you prefer wired network infrastructure.
It is not the right shape for portable listening
There is no battery, charging circuit or portability claim in the official specification. If you need outdoor playback, room-to-room use without outlets or luggage-friendly operation, choose a speaker designed around battery power instead.
It can grow into a two-speaker system
Starting with one unit keeps the initial footprint small. Adding a second later is the route to a true left-right arrangement, but remember that the total cost, two power outlets and the quality of the wireless link all become part of the system decision.

How should you compare it with other compact home speakers?
Do not compare only driver size or a maximum streaming number. The practical differences are usually in the connection set, ecosystem and upgrade path.
| Comparison question | What the C5 MKII W offers | What to verify on another speaker |
|---|---|---|
| Which wireless ecosystems are supported? | Wi‑Fi, Audio Pro multi-room, AirPlay and AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Bluetooth 4.2; named services include Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer and Amazon Music. | Whether your phone, preferred service and household accounts work natively, and whether support is regional. |
| What wired inputs are available? | One RCA line input. | Whether you need HDMI/ARC, optical, USB, a phono input or more than one analogue input. |
| Can you add bass later? | One subwoofer output. | Whether the competing model has a subwoofer output, a proprietary wireless subwoofer path or neither. |
| Can it run without an outlet? | No; it is mains-powered. | Battery capacity, charging method and whether performance changes on battery power. |
| What happens with one cabinet? | Single-speaker playback; stereo linking requires two C5 units. | Whether one enclosure uses a genuine stereo arrangement and how two-unit pairing works. |
| How is setup handled? | Network setup through the Audio Pro software, with Bluetooth as a direct alternative. | App reliability, firmware support, router compatibility and whether a wired setup option exists. |
| How good does it sound? | The available evidence establishes the hardware but not controlled measurements or a complete head-to-head test. | Look for independent tests conducted at the price and room size you care about. |
This framework prevents a common mistake: selecting the speaker with the most impressive streaming list and discovering later that it lacks the television input, battery or stereo arrangement your room requires.

What are the main advantages and limitations?
Advantages
- Broad wireless coverage: Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, AirPlay, AirPlay 2 and Google Cast.
- Audio Pro multi-room capability for compatible household setups.
- Support listed for several major services, subject to regional and subscription limits.
- Compact 130 × 250 × 150 mm cabinet that weighs 2.4 kg.
- RCA line input for an analogue source and a subwoofer output for a possible powered-subwoofer upgrade.
- Two-band 802.11 b/g/n/ac Wi‑Fi and a stated streaming ceiling of 24-bit/96 kHz.
- A second unit can be used for proper left-right stereo.
Limitations
- No battery, so every listening location needs access to mains power.
- No HDMI/ARC, optical or Ethernet input listed by the manufacturer.
- Only one RCA line input, which limits a multi-component wired system.
- One cabinet is not a conventional left-right stereo pair.
- Wi‑Fi setup may take trial and error; Tom’s Guide found Bluetooth easier in its test.
- Official frequency response is currently TBA, while a retailer lists 50–20,000 Hz; the figures should not be treated as equivalent evidence.
- The available review material does not establish measured bass extension, maximum volume, tonal balance or a controlled comparison with other speakers.
What should you verify before buying?
- Check the model suffix. Look specifically for “C5 MkII W” in your region, not merely an older “Addon C5 MKII” title.
- Confirm the package and color. Retailer pages can describe different finishes or regional bundles under similar names.
- Check service availability. Verify that your preferred streaming services, casting platform and subscription tier work in your country.
- Measure the furniture. Allow space for the 150 mm depth, power cable and any RCA or subwoofer cable that exits behind the cabinet.
- Decide whether one or two speakers are needed. A single unit is not the same as a stereo pair; budget for a second cabinet if a wide stereo image is essential.
- Audit your sources. If your main source is a TV with HDMI/ARC or optical only, this is probably the wrong connection set. If it is a turntable, confirm that the signal is line-level or add a phono preamp.
- Check the network. Make sure the intended room has reliable 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi‑Fi and that guest-network isolation will not block discovery.
- Consider the upgrade path. If you may want deeper bass, confirm that your chosen powered subwoofer accepts the available RCA-style connection.
Is the Audio Pro C5 MKII W worth buying?
The C5 MKII W is worth considering when your priorities are network streaming, compact placement and the option to build a multi-room or two-speaker system over time. Its combination of AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Bluetooth, named streaming services, RCA input and subwoofer output is more flexible than a basic Bluetooth-only bookshelf speaker.
It is a poor fit if you need battery operation, a dedicated TV connection, wired Ethernet, several analogue inputs or guaranteed stereo from one box. The absence of complete independent sound measurements also means you should not purchase it on the promise of a particular bass response or volume level that the available evidence does not establish.
Final verdict
The Audio Pro C5 MKII W is best understood as a compact, mains-powered network speaker with useful analogue expansion—not as a portable speaker or all-in-one TV system. Its wireless ecosystem and multi-room potential are the central strengths; the single RCA input, missing HDMI/optical/Ethernet and two-speaker requirement for stereo define the trade-offs. If those boundaries match your room and you verify the regional W-version listing, it is a sensible foundation for flexible home listening. If they do not, a speaker with the missing connection or battery feature will serve you better regardless of its streaming-resolution headline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Audio Pro C5 MKII W have a built-in voice assistant?
A built-in voice assistant is not listed in Audio Pro’s published specifications. Treat voice control as unavailable unless the current regional product page or app explicitly documents it; casting from a phone or smart-home platform is a separate function.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Can I use the C5 MKII W with a turntable?
Yes, but the turntable signal must be line level. Use a deck with an integrated phono stage or place an external phono preamp between a conventional cartridge output and the speaker’s RCA line input.
Is the 50–20,000 Hz frequency range official?
No single official figure is established here. Currys lists 50–20,000 Hz, while Audio Pro’s current product page marks frequency response as TBA, so the retailer number should be treated as an attributed listing rather than a manufacturer-confirmed measurement.
Can I connect the C5 MKII W by Ethernet or USB?
Ethernet and USB are not listed among the connections. The published network route is Wi‑Fi, while the documented physical audio connection is RCA plus a subwoofer output; Bluetooth is available for direct wireless playback.
