For Ubisoft Connect PC installations, Ubisoft documents the default save root as C:Program Files (x86)UbisoftUbisoft Game Launchersavegames<account ID><game folder>. The account-ID directory is a long identifier, and the game directory is inside that account. If Ubisoft Connect was installed somewhere else, start from that installation’s savegames folder instead of forcing the default path.
Ubisoft does not publish a game-specific numeric folder ID for this title. Ubisoft’s official backup instructions are in its PC save-file backup guide. They direct you to copy the relevant game folder, or the entire savegames folder if you want every Ubisoft Connect user and game on that computer covered.
Back up one PC game folder
- Finish saving in the game, exit to the desktop, and close the game completely.
- Open the Ubisoft Connect installation’s
savegamesdirectory. Check the documented default path first; use the actual installation location if yours differs. - Open the account-ID folder for the Ubisoft account you use to play. If several account IDs exist, inspect the folders and their save contents rather than guessing.
- Identify the game folder by examining the folders and files that are actually present. Do not copy only a filename found in an internet post.
- Copy that complete game folder to a clearly dated location outside the launcher’s installation, such as a separate internal drive or external USB storage. Keep the original untouched.
- For stronger protection, retain a second dated copy on another physical device. A copied folder is useful only if it remains available after the working copy is damaged.
A practical name such as Black-Flag-Resynced-2026-10-31-before-new-game makes it clear which progress point you are restoring later. Do not edit, rename or open individual save files as part of an ordinary same-account backup; preserving the folder structure is the safer approach.
How do I restore a PC backup without overwriting the wrong version?
Ubisoft’s restore guidance says an earlier save can be restored when you have a backup copy. Before changing anything, preserve the currently installed folder, then replace it with the dated copy while both the game and Ubisoft Connect are closed.
- Exit the game and quit Ubisoft Connect PC rather than leaving the launcher running in the notification area.
- Navigate to the same account-ID directory under

Should I disable Ubisoft Connect cloud synchronization before replacing a save?
Cloud synchronization can prevent a local restore from remaining in place if the launcher later uploads or downloads another version. Ubisoft Connect PC provides a General setting where cloud synchronization for supported games can be unticked temporarily and re-enabled after the local files are confirmed.

- In General, locate the cloud-synchronization option for supported games.
- Temporarily untick the option before replacing local files if you need to prevent an automatic cloud exchange during the restore.
- Perform the closed-launcher replacement procedure described above.
- Launch the game and verify the progress. Keep your preserved folders until you know which copy is correct.
- Return to Settings > General and re-enable synchronization when you are ready.

What if I never made a manual PC backup?
Your remaining options depend on whether Windows created a historical copy. Ubisoft says Windows File History may provide an earlier save if File History was configured and had already backed up the folder. Without an existing backup, there is no official guarantee that an older local version can be reconstructed.
Check Windows Previous Versions
One player report describes opening an earlier folder through Windows Previous Versions after a corrupted save. That is a community account, not evidence that Windows automatically created snapshots on every PC.
- Browse to the relevant Ubisoft Connect save folder in File Explorer.
- Right-click the folder and look for Properties, then a Previous Versions tab or an available File History recovery option.
- Only restore a dated version that clearly predates the corruption, and copy the current folder elsewhere first.

Upload a PS5 save to PlayStation Plus cloud storage
- Open Settings > Saved Data and Game/App Settings.
- Select Saved Data (PS5).
- Choose Upload or Delete from Console Storage, then select the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced save and upload it to cloud storage.

There is no documented universal Steam Deck save directory or Proton-prefix path established for this game in the available material.
