For clearer targets and steadier frame times in ARC Raiders, start with your monitor’s native resolution, Field of View 80, Motion Blur Off, View Distance High, Texture Quality High, and Shadows High. Keep Post-Processing on Low or Medium, use Static RTX Global Illumination when Dynamic is too costly, and reduce reflections, foliage, effects, or global-illumination resolution only when the GPU cannot hold a stable frame time. Choose an upscaler by hardware: DLSS Quality is the NVIDIA starting point, while XeSS Ultra Quality is the clarity-oriented starting point for AMD- and Intel-focused systems. Frame generation can make motion look smoother, but a 2026 community test reported higher latency with it enabled, so it is not automatically the best competitive setting.
These are practical starting points, not an official universal preset. Community comparisons were made on particular systems and builds, and the current ARC Raiders menu behavior can change after a patch. Tune in the order below, keeping the settings that improve your own visibility without creating inconsistent frame times.

What settings should you change first for better visibility?
Prioritize settings that preserve distant geometry, texture detail, and dark-area readability before spending GPU time on cosmetic effects. The baseline below is designed to make opponents and cover easier to parse while leaving a clear path to recover performance.
| Setting | Starting value | Visibility or performance effect | When to change it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Output resolution | Monitor native resolution | Preserves the sharpest source image and avoids unnecessary scaling. | Lower only when you cannot reach a stable frame time with upscaling and effect cuts. |
| Field of View | 80 | Shows a wider area around you, which can help peripheral awareness. | Use a narrower value if the wider view causes unacceptable performance loss or makes targets too small for you. |
| Motion Blur | Off | Removes camera and movement smearing that can obscure moving players. | Leave off for target clarity; it is an aesthetic preference rather than a performance fix. |
| View Distance | High | Reduces distant-geometry pop-in and keeps far cover readable. | Try Epic only when the GPU has headroom and pop-in is more distracting than the cost. |
| Texture Quality | High | Keeps surfaces and environmental details sharper. | Lower if video memory pressure causes stutter or texture degradation is less important than frame-time stability. |
| Shadows | High | Can make players and objects easier to distinguish in dark areas. | Lower when shadow rendering is the main GPU bottleneck. |
| Post-Processing | Low or Medium | Low can reduce foliage flicker and distracting effects, but may reduce ambient-occlusion depth and flatten the scene. | Use Medium if Low makes interiors and contact points look unnaturally flat. |
| RTX Global Illumination | Static | Avoids the heavier cost and possible artifacts associated with Dynamic lighting. | Use Dynamic only if your GPU has substantial headroom and the result is visually preferable. |
| Reflections, Foliage, Effects, Global Illumination Resolution | Keep at the highest stable value | Add visual richness but are sensible first reductions when the GPU is overloaded. | Reduce these before sacrificing View Distance or Texture Quality. |
Apply the changes one group at a time. If a change improves the image but produces hitching, the smoother setting is usually the better raid choice: a stable frame time makes motion and aiming more predictable than a high but erratic average frame rate.

How do View Distance, textures, and shadows affect what you can see?
View Distance: High is the practical default
High View Distance is the visibility-first compromise. It keeps more distant geometry present and reduces the sudden appearance of cover, structures, or other objects as you move. Epic can reduce pop-in further, but its extra GPU cost is worthwhile only if your frame time remains stable. If Epic causes spikes during traversal or fights, return to High rather than lowering resolution immediately.
Texture Quality: retain detail before cutting effects
High textures preserve surface information that helps separate a player from a wall, rock, or piece of equipment. Texture quality is often limited by video-memory capacity rather than raw shader speed; if lowering it does not cure your bottleneck, restore High and cut a more expensive effect instead. Visible texture degradation is particularly distracting when you are scanning cover at range.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?

High shadows can reveal the shape and position of objects in darker areas. They also cost more than lower shadow levels, so they are a targeted visibility choice rather than a universal performance recommendation. If your fights occur mostly in bright, open scenes and the GPU is saturated, shadows are a reasonable setting to lower after preserving View Distance and textures.
Field of View 80: wider awareness with a cost
FOV 80 is the cited starting point when a broader view does not cause unacceptable performance loss. A wider view can expose more of the scene at once, but it also changes how large distant targets appear on screen and may increase the amount of geometry the game must process. Keep 80 if you can read targets comfortably; choose a narrower value when the wider view makes aiming harder or destabilizes frame times.

Should Post-Processing be Low or Medium?
Use Low when foliage flicker, shimmer, or other post effects interfere with target recognition. Community guidance also notes a real downside: Low can reduce ambient-occlusion depth, making contact shadows and nearby surfaces look flatter. Medium is the safer compromise if Low removes too much depth from interiors or cluttered scenes.
Do not treat Post-Processing as a free clarity switch. Compare the same location at both levels, looking at foliage edges, the contact between objects and the ground, and dark corners. Keep the lower setting only when the reduction in flicker outweighs the loss of depth for your eyes.

Which upscaler and anti-aliasing mode should you use?
Start with the highest-quality mode that holds your target frame time. Image stability depends on output resolution, GPU generation, driver version, selected model, and scene; no upscaler is guaranteed to win on every system.
NVIDIA: DLSS Quality first
DLSS Quality is the clarity-oriented starting point for NVIDIA GPUs. Community comparisons generally favored the Transformer model for steadier detail and sharper motion, but CNN can behave better with some particles, volumetrics, or foliage flicker. If Transformer produces shimmer in the scenes you play, compare CNN rather than assuming the newer-looking option is always superior.

DLAA is the image-quality-first choice when your GPU has ample headroom because it prioritizes native-resolution anti-aliasing instead of recovering performance through reconstruction. It is not the default for a GPU already struggling to maintain stable frame times.
AMD or Intel-focused systems: XeSS Ultra Quality, then FSR3 if needed
The cited comparison favors XeSS Ultra Quality as a clarity-oriented starting point for AMD- or Intel-oriented systems. FSR3 remains a performance option, but community reports describe more flicker or shimmer in some scenes. Use FSR3 when the extra performance is necessary, then move back toward a higher-quality mode if temporal instability makes distant targets harder to read.
How to compare modes fairly
- Stand in the same type of scene, preferably one with foliage, distant geometry, and a dark interior nearby.
- Keep resolution, FOV, View Distance, and lighting settings unchanged.
- Compare moving foliage, thin geometry, particles, and distant edges rather than judging a static wall.
- Keep the mode that provides the best combination of readable detail and consistent frame time, not simply the highest overlay FPS.
Does frame generation improve performance or hurt latency?
Frame generation improves displayed smoothness by inserting generated frames; it does not provide a free reduction in input latency. A 2026 community test on one high-end system reported approximately 24–29 ms in tested configurations without frame generation and roughly 31–36 ms in tested configurations with it enabled, while displayed frame rates rose substantially. Those numbers describe that system and scene, not an ARC Raiders specification.
- Lowest latency: Disable frame generation and prioritize a stable base frame rate.
- Smoother motion on a high-refresh display: Enable it only when the underlying frame rate is already healthy and the added latency feels acceptable.
- NVIDIA systems: Test Reflex with the selected frame-generation mode, then judge frametime consistency and control response rather than relying on an overlay number alone.
A separate community discussion described 120 FPS or higher as a player preference, not an official target. Your monitor’s refresh rate matters for how much smoothness you can actually display, but a high-refresh monitor does not create additional game frames by itself.

How do you tune ARC Raiders settings step by step?
Change one variable at a time and use a repeatable route or raid situation. The current build’s exact labels and behavior should be rechecked after major updates.
- Record a baseline. Note resolution, FOV, upscaler mode, frame-generation state, and the frame-time behavior you see during traversal and combat.
- Set the clarity foundation. Use native resolution, FOV 80, Motion Blur Off, View Distance High, Textures High, and Shadows High.
- Choose reconstruction. Select DLSS Quality on NVIDIA hardware, or XeSS Ultra Quality on AMD- or Intel-focused systems. Compare another model only if you can see instability.
- Set lighting and post effects. Try Static RTX Global Illumination and Low or Medium Post-Processing. Keep the option that preserves depth without distracting flicker.
- Recover GPU headroom. Lower Reflections, Foliage, Effects, and Global Illumination Resolution in that order only as needed. Recheck dark areas and distant geometry after each cut.
- Decide on frame generation. Leave it off for the lowest latency. Turn it on only after the base frame rate is healthy and smoother motion is worth the added delay.
- Recheck after updates. Patches, drivers, and changes to the selected upscaler model can alter image stability, so revisit the comparison scene after a major game or driver update.
What should you change when performance is still poor?
First identify whether the GPU or the game’s frame-time consistency is the limiting factor. If the GPU is saturated, reduce Reflections, Foliage, Effects, or Global Illumination Resolution before lowering View Distance or Texture Quality. If the average FPS looks high but controls feel uneven, disable frame generation and use a steadier base rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf distant objects pop in, restore View Distance to High or Epic before increasing cosmetic effects. If dark areas hide objects, keep Shadows High and compare Static lighting; if foliage shimmers, test Low Post-Processing or a different DLSS model, then inspect whether the flatter ambient-occlusion result is acceptable.
Keep GPU drivers current before diagnosing a sudden performance change. Because official current-build behavior for every upscaler, lighting mode, and frame-generation combination has not been established, treat community recommendations as starting points and verify them on your hardware.

How were these settings selected?
The priorities follow the visibility and performance tradeoffs reported in community comparisons: preserve distance, textures, and useful shadows; remove motion blur; control post-processing artifacts; use high-quality reconstruction; and cut reflections or foliage before sacrificing information that helps you identify targets. Latency guidance separates base frame rate from generated display frames, so smoothness and responsiveness are treated as different goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a wider FOV always make ARC Raiders easier to play?
No. FOV 80 gives more peripheral coverage, but it can make distant targets appear smaller and may increase the amount of scene data rendered. If your aim feels less precise or frame times become unstable, a narrower value can be the better personal setting.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →When is DLAA worth choosing over DLSS Quality?
DLAA makes sense when your NVIDIA GPU has enough headroom for native-resolution anti-aliasing and image quality matters more than extra performance. If you are already near an unstable frame-time limit, DLSS Quality is the safer starting point.
Can a 240Hz monitor increase my ARC Raiders FPS?
No. A 240Hz panel can display more of the frames your system already produces, but it does not raise the game’s rendering rate. Frame generation or lower settings may increase displayed frames, while the monitor only determines how many can be shown.
What should I do after an ARC Raiders graphics patch changes the menu?
Reapply the clarity baseline, then compare your upscaler, lighting mode, and frame-generation choice in the same scene as before. Menu labels and image behavior can change between builds, so do not assume a previous model or preset remains optimal.
