Instead of TrainAR
TrainAR alternatives
TrainAR is a free, open-source Unity tool for building procedural augmented-reality training on Android and iOS. Authors import 3D models, turn compatible models into TrainAR objects, then use visual scripting to define instructions, actions, and feedback. Its built-in workflow covers onboarding, object placement and interaction, and assessments; developers can also work through Unity’s editor and C#. It targets procedural understanding before or after practical training, rather than motor-skill practice, and model conversion does not support SkinnedMeshRenderers.

Alternatives may suit a different audience or a different kind of lesson: some emphasize classroom curricula, student projects, presentations, or ready-made content rather than procedural training authoring. Compare how each handles creation, sharing, devices, and its intended learners, as well as the price and any limits on access. TrainAR spans desktop editor platforms but deploys trainings to Android and iOS; an iOS build requires Xcode on macOS. A switch can trade its procedural stateflow and Unity flexibility for simpler publishing, classroom tools, or broader viewing options.
