Instead of TorrServer
TorrServer alternatives
TorrServer focuses on torrent playback before a full file download: it streams over HTTP, adjusts its cache to system and connection limits, and provides playback URLs for VLC, mpv, browsers, and Smart TV use through Media Station X. It is free and supports Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, web, and self-hosted use. Torznab search, optional DLNA and GStreamer features, REST and MCP endpoints, and standalone or container deployment give it several ways to fit into a media setup.

That streaming focus is not the same as a conventional download client or a tool for moving files between devices. TorrServer also warns that HTTP media can send stream URLs and Basic authentication credentials unencrypted, so that mode is for trusted networks. Its iOS framework requires iOS 18 or later, lacks FUSE and GStreamer, and leaves background playback to the host app. When switching, consider whether you want immediate playback, completed downloads, another peer-to-peer network, or direct device transfers, then compare platform support, remote access, search and download controls, and security needs.
