Instead of Apache Drill
Apache Drill alternatives
Apache Drill runs SQL directly against raw Hadoop, NoSQL, and cloud-storage data, so teams can query without loading, transforming, or defining schemas first. Its JSON model reaches nested structures, while cross-datastore joins combine information in one query. JDBC and ODBC drivers connect named BI tools, and a REST API supports custom applications. Drill is free, open source under Apache License 2.0, and can run embedded or on a cluster across Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Readers may still want a different balance. Drill’s official support for Hadoop 2 and Java 8 ended with version 1.22.0, and its interface centers on querying rather than editing tables, modeling schemas, or administering many database types. Alternatives range from local graphical clients to browser-based administration and database-specific IDEs. Compare supported databases, data-editing and visualization tools, deployment options, integrations, platform coverage, and ongoing cost. Keep Drill’s in-place, nested-data and cross-source strengths in view when deciding whether a focused database workspace is a better fit.
