Trino is a distributed SQL query engine for analyzing large datasets across different data systems. It supports ANSI SQL and can query multiple sources together, such as joining data in S3 object storage with data in MySQL. Its parallel, distributed design targets efficient, low-latency analytics for data warehousing; it is not intended as a general-purpose relational database or an OLTP replacement. Connectors cover systems including BigQuery, Cassandra, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis, Snowflake, and SQL Server. The project maintains JDBC, Go, JavaScript, Python, and C# clients, along with a command-line interface and Grafana data-source plugin. Trino can run in Kubernetes, Docker, or as a manually deployed server, in cloud and on-premises environments. Its AI functions support OpenAI and Anthropic directly and other models through Ollama, with the language model supplied as an external service. Trino is free under the Apache License 2.0 as self-managed software. It supports several authentication and access-control methods, but a default installation has no security features enabled.
