AppLovin reported the larger business and much stronger profitability, while SoundHound AI posted the higher percentage growth rate in its latest full-year results covered here. The comparison is not like-for-like: AppLovin’s figures are for FY2025, while SoundHound’s are for FY2024. AppLovin reported FY2025 revenue of $5.481 billion, up 70%; SoundHound reported FY2024 revenue of $84.693 million, up 85%. Those percentages do not establish that SoundHound is currently growing faster, but they do show how a smaller revenue base can produce a higher growth rate.
The practical question is what each rate represents. AppLovin added growth at multibillion-dollar scale and reported substantial earnings, whereas SoundHound’s faster rate came from a much smaller base and alongside continuing losses. A useful comparison therefore needs more than one percentage: it should separate fiscal periods, absolute revenue, business mix, profitability, and forward guidance.

Not on the headline percentages alone. In the annual periods compared here, AppLovin reported 70% revenue growth for FY2025, and SoundHound AI reported 85% for FY2024. Because those are different fiscal years, they are not a same-period contest. The figures establish that both companies reported rapid growth in their respective periods, but a current ranking would require matching fiscal years and consistent accounting bases.
The better answer depends on what “faster” means. SoundHound’s 85% is the higher stated percentage. AppLovin added a much larger amount of revenue in absolute terms and had much higher reported profitability. Growth rate, dollars added, business scale, and earnings quality are related but distinct measures.

What the reported annual figures say
| Company and period | Revenue | Reported year-over-year growth | Profitability figure available here |
|---|---|---|---|
| AppLovin, FY2025 | $5.481 billion | 70% | Net income: $3.334 billion; adjusted EBITDA: $4.512 billion |
| SoundHound AI, FY2024 | $84.693 million | 85% | GAAP net loss: $350.681 million; adjusted EBITDA: negative $61.915 million |
These figures come from company results for different fiscal years. They should be read as a comparison of the reported trajectories available for each company, not as a synchronized FY2025-versus-FY2025 comparison.
Why the percentages can mislead
A percentage increase is measured against the prior-year base. SoundHound’s reported FY2024 revenue was a fraction of AppLovin’s reported FY2025 revenue, so a smaller dollar increase can translate into a larger percentage. SoundHound’s FY2024 revenue increased by about $38.8 million from FY2023; AppLovin’s FY2024 revenue increased by about $1.426 billion from its reported FY2023 base of $3.283 billion. The reported rates answer “what share of the prior base was added,” not “which company added more revenue” or “which one has the more durable business.”

There is also a figure-basis issue in AppLovin’s reported data that matters for anyone recalculating growth. Its FY2025 results state $5.481 billion in revenue and 70% growth, and the comparative table cited for that release lists $3.224 billion for FY2024. However, AppLovin’s FY2024 results report total revenue of $4.709 billion. Those FY2024 figures do not reconcile as presented, and the available figures do not establish why. The 70% figure should therefore be identified as AppLovin’s reported FY2025 growth rate; do not combine it with the separately reported $4.709 billion FY2024 total to calculate a new rate, or present the two FY2024 figures as interchangeable.
How do AppLovin and SoundHound revenue compare?
AppLovin’s reported FY2025 revenue was about 64.7 times SoundHound’s reported FY2024 revenue, using the figures above. That ratio is a rough scale comparison across different years, not a same-period market-share or growth measure.
The companies’ dollar bases are far apart. AppLovin reported $4.709 billion in FY2024 revenue, up 43% from $3.283 billion in FY2023. SoundHound reported $84.693 million in FY2024, up 85% from $45.873 million in FY2023. The same calendar fiscal year is available for those two FY2024 totals, but AppLovin’s FY2024 growth rate and SoundHound’s FY2024 growth rate still describe very different-sized businesses.
| Measure | AppLovin | SoundHound AI |
|---|---|---|
| Annual revenue in the compared periods | $5.481 billion, FY2025 | $84.693 million, FY2024 |
| Annual growth in those periods | 70%, FY2025, as reported | 85%, FY2024 |
| Same-year FY2024 revenue | $4.709 billion in the FY2024 results; a separate FY2025 comparative table lists $3.224 billion | $84.693 million |
| Prior-year revenue | $3.283 billion in FY2023, as reported with FY2024 results | $45.873 million in FY2023 |
For AppLovin, the two FY2024 figures in the table are a material inconsistency, not a rounding difference. A reader comparing company releases should preserve the context of each figure and avoid treating the $3.224 billion comparative value as the same measure as the $4.709 billion FY2024 total without a reconciliation. The reported 70% FY2025 growth rate is still useful as the company’s stated figure, but it does not resolve that discrepancy.
Percentage growth versus dollars added
SoundHound’s 85% rate means its FY2024 revenue was 1.85 times FY2023 revenue, an increase of approximately $38.820 million. AppLovin’s reported FY2024 figures show an increase of approximately $1.426 billion from FY2023 to FY2024, even though that comparison is separate from the FY2025 release’s 70% figure. This illustrates why investors often examine both percentage growth and incremental revenue. A small company can double while still adding less revenue than a large company growing at a lower rate.
Scale also affects operating leverage and customer reach. A large platform may be able to spread infrastructure and sales costs over more revenue, while a smaller company may need to keep investing ahead of contracts. Neither outcome is automatic, but the different starting points make a single growth percentage an incomplete description.

What is driving AppLovin’s revenue growth?
AppLovin’s FY2024 results identify advertising as the clear reported growth engine. Advertising revenue reached $3.224 billion, up 75% year over year, while apps revenue was $1.485 billion, up 3%.
Advertising grew much faster than apps
The difference between 75% advertising growth and 3% apps growth shows that AppLovin’s two reported revenue categories were not expanding at the same pace. Advertising was the faster-growing segment in FY2024; apps made a smaller year-over-year gain. The segment figures help explain the mix of growth in that year, but they should not be used to infer that every part of AppLovin’s business grew at the same rate in FY2025.
Growth concentration is useful to track because a strong overall result can rely heavily on one revenue engine. If the faster-growing category continues to expand, it can sustain the company’s total growth; if its rate slows, the other category’s more modest reported pace may matter more. That is a framework for reading future results, not a forecast about what AppLovin will report.
The advertising figure also needs to be kept separate from profitability. Revenue tells you what AppLovin billed or recognized from the category; it does not disclose the category’s standalone margin in the figures provided. Company-wide FY2025 net income and adjusted EBITDA show that growth translated into strong overall earnings, but they do not prove that advertising alone generated a specific share of profit.
Questions to ask about AppLovin’s mix
- Is advertising still growing faster than apps in the next completed fiscal year?
- Does the advertising share of total revenue rise, fall, or stabilize?
- Are reported growth rates based on the same revenue definitions across releases?
- Does adjusted EBITDA continue to grow faster than revenue, as it did in the reported FY2025 comparison?
Those questions help distinguish a broad-based expansion from growth increasingly dependent on one category. They also guard against extrapolating the 75% advertising increase indefinitely.
What is driving SoundHound AI’s revenue growth?
SoundHound describes expansion across multiple customer industries and a portfolio of voice and conversational AI offerings. Its reported customer sectors include restaurants, healthcare, automotive, retail, energy, government, telecom, financial services, insurance, and travel and hospitality.
Quick wins for a faster PC:

The company’s named offerings include Smart Answering, Smart Ordering, Dynamic Drive-Thru, Amelia AI Agents, and SoundHound Chat AI. These offerings span customer-service and conversational-AI use cases rather than a single industry. That breadth is relevant to the growth story: reported expansion across sectors could give the company several routes to win deployments, but a list of markets and products alone does not establish how much revenue each contributes.
SoundHound’s FY2024 results show that revenue rose sharply from its FY2023 base, and fourth-quarter revenue provides a more recent within-year data point: Q4 2024 revenue was $34.543 million, up 101% year over year. A strong quarter can indicate acceleration, but it is not a substitute for a full year’s result. Quarterly revenue can fluctuate, and the annual figure is the more complete basis for comparing full-year performance.

Q4 revenue represented roughly 40.8% of SoundHound’s FY2024 revenue, based on the reported $34.543 million quarter and $84.693 million annual total. That concentration is a simple descriptive calculation, not evidence of seasonality or a recurring quarterly run rate. It does show why a single quarter should be interpreted alongside the full-year total and subsequent quarters.
What the growth figures do not reveal
The available figures do not break SoundHound’s revenue out by the listed industries, products, customer concentration, or contract duration. They therefore support the statement that the company has identified a broad set of sectors and offerings, not a conclusion that revenue is evenly diversified or that any one offering caused the annual growth. To assess durability, readers need future disclosures that connect reported revenue to customer retention, recurring contracts, deployments, or segment-level contributions.

Enterprise software revenue can also arrive in stages: a signed customer may begin with a pilot, expand to more locations, or add another product later. The figures here do not say how much of SoundHound’s growth came from new customers, expansions, acquisitions, usage, or timing. Investors should avoid assigning a precise cause when the company has not quantified it.
Does AppLovin’s advertising growth translate into profits?
In the reported results covered here, AppLovin combined rapid revenue growth with substantial profitability. For FY2025, it reported $3.334 billion in net income and $4.512 billion in adjusted EBITDA; the latter increased 87% year over year.
Relative to $5.481 billion of reported FY2025 revenue, those figures indicate that AppLovin was not merely buying growth with an operating loss during that period. Net income and adjusted EBITDA are not interchangeable, however. Net income is a GAAP measure after items such as depreciation, amortization, interest, taxes, and other accounting effects. Adjusted EBITDA is non-GAAP and excludes items defined by the company. The useful conclusion is that both reported measures were strongly positive, not that one can be substituted for the other.
AppLovin’s FY2024 segment data also show that advertising revenue expanded more quickly than apps revenue, but the FY2024 growth mix alone does not prove which segment generated a particular amount of profit. The available figures do not provide segment profitability here. Revenue growth by category and company-wide earnings are related evidence, not a direct segment-margin calculation.
Why did SoundHound report a net loss despite fast growth?
SoundHound remained loss-making in FY2024 on the measures provided: adjusted EBITDA was negative $61.915 million, compared with negative $35.896 million in FY2023, and GAAP net loss was negative $350.681 million.
The GAAP net loss should be read with the company’s explanation that a large non-cash fair-value adjustment to contingent acquisition liabilities affected the result. “Non-cash” means that this particular accounting adjustment was not itself a cash payment in the period; it does not make the GAAP loss disappear, nor does it establish that the company’s other expenses were immaterial. The adjusted EBITDA figure is a separate non-GAAP measure and also remained negative.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
This distinction matters when judging financial quality. Revenue can grow quickly while a company continues to spend more than it earns under a given profit measure. A large non-cash item can widen the difference between GAAP net loss and another metric, but readers should examine both rather than treating one as the sole verdict on performance. The figures provided do not include enough cash-flow detail to conclude whether SoundHound’s cash balance rose or fell from operations.
How to compare the profit figures fairly
- Keep AppLovin’s $3.334 billion net income labeled as GAAP net income and its $4.512 billion figure labeled adjusted EBITDA.
- Keep SoundHound’s negative $350.681 million net loss labeled GAAP and its negative $61.915 million figure labeled adjusted EBITDA.
- Do not compare AppLovin’s adjusted EBITDA directly with SoundHound’s GAAP net loss as if they were the same measurement.
- Use the same metric and fiscal period when evaluating improvement, and read non-GAAP reconciliations for excluded items.
How should investors read SoundHound’s FY2025 outlook?
In February 2025, SoundHound gave an FY2025 revenue outlook of $157 million to $177 million. That range is management guidance, not realized revenue, so it belongs in a forward-looking discussion and should not be placed in a table as an actual FY2025 result.
The range can be considered against SoundHound’s $84.693 million FY2024 revenue as a scale reference, but it is not an apples-to-apples reported growth result. Guidance depends on assumptions and may be revised; a later reported annual result is needed to determine what revenue was actually achieved. The information here does not establish whether SoundHound ultimately met that outlook.
Mathematically, the midpoint of the range is $167 million, but using that midpoint to claim a realized growth rate would be misleading. Even the low and high ends represent expectations, not booked revenue. A careful article or investment note should label every use of the range as guidance and state the date—February 2025—so readers do not confuse it with the FY2024 result or a later filing.
AppLovin’s FY2025 reported revenue and SoundHound’s FY2025 guidance are different evidence types. One is a realized result and the other a forecast range. Treating them as equivalent would blur the distinction between what happened and what management expected.
Which company has the stronger revenue-growth trajectory?
There is no single winner across every definition of “stronger.” SoundHound had the higher reported percentage growth in its FY2024 result, while AppLovin reported a much larger business, high FY2025 profitability, and a faster-growing advertising category in FY2024. The difference in periods, the AppLovin FY2024 figure discrepancy, and SoundHound’s losses all affect how much weight to give each headline rate.

For readers tracking the companies over time, the most useful practice is to compare like with like: same fiscal year, total revenue on the same reporting basis, and realized results against realized results. Then review segment or business-line growth, profit measures with their accounting labels, and guidance separately. That approach prevents a headline percentage from carrying more meaning than the underlying figures support.

Common comparison mistakes
The most serious error is putting AppLovin FY2025 and SoundHound FY2024 into a single same-year ranking without labeling the periods. A second is treating the 85% and 70% rates as forecasts of future performance. They are historical reported rates. A third is combining AppLovin’s separately reported FY2024 totals into a new calculation despite the unresolved $3.224 billion versus $4.709 billion discrepancy.
Another mistake is comparing a non-GAAP measure for one company with a GAAP measure for the other. AppLovin’s adjusted EBITDA and SoundHound’s adjusted EBITDA are both non-GAAP, while net income and net loss are GAAP; comparisons should stay within those categories. Finally, a broad product or industry list should not be mistaken for quantified diversification. Without revenue by sector, product, or customer, breadth remains descriptive rather than measurable.

Are AppLovin and SoundHound AI direct competitors?
They are both technology companies, but the business descriptions in the company results point to different primary offerings: AppLovin reports advertising and apps revenue, while SoundHound describes voice and conversational AI products. The figures here do not establish that they compete for the same customers or contracts.
Which company has stronger revenue growth, APP or SOUN?
SoundHound reported the higher percentage in FY2024 at 85%, compared with AppLovin’s reported 70% in FY2025. Because the fiscal periods differ and the businesses have very different revenue bases, that is not a definitive same-period ranking.
How do AppLovin and SoundHound revenue compare?
AppLovin reported $5.481 billion in FY2025 revenue, versus SoundHound’s $84.693 million in FY2024. That is roughly a 64.7-to-one scale difference, although it compares different fiscal years.
Is SoundHound’s growth rate meaningful despite its smaller revenue base?
Yes, it shows that SoundHound added a substantial percentage to its own prior-year base, including 101% year-over-year growth in Q4 2024. The rate does not by itself show that SoundHound added more dollars, has greater scale, or is more profitable than AppLovin.
Does faster revenue growth automatically make SOUN a better investment than APP?
No. Revenue growth is only one input; valuation, cash flow, dilution, debt, competitive position, execution risk, and the return investors require also matter. The reported growth rates alone cannot establish which stock is more attractive.
What does SoundHound’s non-cash adjustment mean for its cash balance?
The stated fair-value adjustment affected GAAP net loss but was described as non-cash, so it was not itself a cash outflow in that period. The figures given here do not include a cash-flow statement or enough information to determine SoundHound’s overall cash generation.
Can SoundHound’s $157 million to $177 million outlook be counted as FY2025 revenue?
No. It was management guidance issued in February 2025. It should be compared with a later reported FY2025 result only after that result is published, and it should never be presented as revenue already earned.
Why is AppLovin’s FY2024 revenue shown as both $4.709 billion and $3.224 billion?
Those amounts appear in different company-reported contexts: $4.709 billion is the FY2024 total in the FY2024 results, while $3.224 billion appears as the FY2024 comparative value in the FY2025 release. The figures do not reconcile in the information provided, so they should not be treated as interchangeable without an explanation.
The Bottom Line
SoundHound AI posted the higher reported percentage growth—85% in FY2024 versus AppLovin’s reported 70% in FY2025—but AppLovin was vastly larger and highly profitable. SoundHound’s $84.693 million revenue and continuing losses make its percentage rate a small-base growth story, while AppLovin’s $5.481 billion result shows growth at much greater scale. Because the fiscal years differ and AppLovin’s FY2024 comparative figures require reconciliation, the fairest conclusion is conditional: SoundHound led on the stated rate, AppLovin led on scale and profitability, and neither headline alone proves the stronger long-term trajectory.
