Apple is reportedly planning to introduce a new smart-home hub, a refreshed HomePod mini, and an Apple TV on October 13, 2026. The date and product lineup come from Bloomberg reporting attributed to Mark Gurman, not an Apple event announcement; Apple has not confirmed the products or launch date in the sources available as of October 3, 2026.
When is Apple’s smart-home hub reportedly coming out?
MacRumors reported on September 30 that Apple plans to unveil the hub, a new HomePod mini, and an Apple TV on Tuesday, October 13, citing Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This is the clearest date reported so far, but it remains a reported plan rather than a confirmed launch. Earlier coverage described the hub as arriving “as soon as October”; the newer report gives a specific date. MacRumors’ September 30 report and 9to5Mac’s coverage both attribute the timing to Bloomberg reporting.

What is the reported Apple home hub?
Reported design: a display for a counter or wall
Recent reporting describes a roughly six-inch square display in two forms: a tabletop device and a wall-mounted version. The tabletop model is likened to the iMac G4, with a screen above a rounded speaker base. These are reported design details, not Apple-published specifications; earlier coverage described a larger, roughly seven-inch display, so the dimensions should not be treated as settled. 9to5Mac’s account of the latest design reporting provides the current description.

Reported features: Siri, household information, and controls
The hub is reportedly intended as a shared household screen centered on Siri and Apple Home. TechRepublic’s account of the reported plans describes personalized information such as contacts, messages, calendar items, notes, and preferred apps, alongside connected-device controls, FaceTime, music, photo slideshows, and kitchen video or recipe use. These are rumored capabilities, not confirmed specifications or tested features. TechRepublic’s report outlines the functionality being discussed.
How the rumored hub differs from a HomePod mini you can buy now
The reported display hub and the current HomePod mini are different products. Apple currently sells the HomePod mini and says it can act as a home hub for remotely controlling HomeKit and Matter-enabled accessories. It does not have the rumored screen, and the reported new Siri capabilities should not be assumed to work on the current model. Apple’s HomePod mini product page describes the existing speaker and its home-hub role, while Apple’s store listing shows the current model for purchase.

Should you buy a HomePod mini now or wait?
If you need an Apple Home hub now, the current HomePod mini is an available, documented option. Apple also identifies Apple TV as a home-hub category device in its ecosystem documentation. For example, Apple’s iOS 26 feature documentation describes a supported setup requiring a home hub such as Apple TV or HomePod and a compatible Matter thermostat. That example does not guarantee compatibility for every thermostat or accessory, so check the individual product’s Apple Home and Matter support before buying. Apple’s iOS 26 Home feature documentation explains the example.

1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf what you want is specifically a screen-based control surface or the rumored refreshed mini, waiting for an Apple announcement is the only way to confirm features, price, and availability. Neither rumored product is established as orderable, and the existing mini should not be mistaken for the reported refresh.
