What the report says is in the Apple Home Collection
MacRumors reported that the expected Apple Home Collection would bring together accessories for several parts of a connected home. The reported categories are:

The October 12 report associates brands including LG and Schneider Electric with the lineup. It does not provide confirmed model names or establish which company would make each reported device. The Collection should therefore be understood as a reported accessory lineup, not evidence that Apple manufactures every product in it.
Most importantly, the report is not an Apple announcement. As of October 13, 2026, the sources available for this article do not include an official Apple confirmation of the Collection. Treat the categories and brand involvement as reported, rather than final product details.

What Apple currently documents about its smart-home platform
Apple’s US Home app page describes controlling compatible smart-home accessories through the Home app. Apple gives a Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell, ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium and Level Lock+ as examples of compatible products. These are examples of the existing Apple Home ecosystem; Apple does not identify them as Collection devices.
Apple describes using the Home app to view camera feeds, access locks, control thermostats and create automations. In its documented setup, Apple TV and HomePod can act as home hubs. Those details explain the current platform context, but they do not establish whether a rumored Collection product will require a hub, support a particular automation, or include any specific camera or privacy feature.

Compatibility and ownership are separate questions: a third-party accessory can work with Apple Home without being made by Apple or being part of a new Apple-branded collection. The company’s existing examples show that smart doorbells, thermostats and locks already have compatible options, independently of the reported lineup.
What shoppers can—and cannot—conclude yet
The report may signal a broader selection of smart-home accessories associated with Apple’s ecosystem, but it is not enough to decide whether a particular device will suit a home. The sources do not establish the Collection’s product names, technical specifications, prices, retail availability, release dates or geographic availability. They also do not confirm whether every reported product will work with Apple Home, what installation it will require, or whether an Apple TV or HomePod will be needed for its features.

A reported “deadbolt” does not establish lock compatibility or installation requirements. Apple’s current platform page describes capabilities and compatible examples, not specifications for the unconfirmed Collection.
Before buying on the basis of the report, wait for an Apple announcement or product page that identifies the specific model and its supported features. Then check the device’s Apple Home compatibility, installation requirements, hub or connectivity needs, supported automations, privacy features, price and availability in your region.
