AI video generator pricing depends on more than a monthly subscription: the model, clip length, resolution, audio, retries, and commercial-use terms can all change what you pay or what you are allowed to publish. Compare the cost per finished second—not just the headline plan price—and check the license terms for the exact plan you intend to use. For example, Runway lists different per-second credit rates for Gen-4 and Gen-4 Turbo, while Pika marks commercial licensing unavailable on its Free and Starter plans but available on Creator and Fancy.
What determines the real cost of an AI-generated video?
The useful comparison is the cost of the output you can actually use, not simply the cost of joining a service. A plan with a low monthly fee may be a poor fit if its credit allowance cannot cover many attempts, or if the output you need uses a more expensive resolution or includes audio.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Start with these cost components:
- Credits consumed: Providers assign their own credit rates. A credit in one service is not equivalent to a credit in another.
- Finished duration: If a model charges per second, a longer clip uses proportionally more credits.
- Output settings: Resolution, aspect ratio, and audio can change the rate or determine which model and plan are available.
- Retries: The credit cost of the final version is not the same as the cost of all the generations needed to get there.
- Plan features: Watermark removal, queue priority, parallel generations, and model access can be plan benefits or restrictions, rather than part of a simple per-clip price.
- Usage rights: A plan may or may not include the provider’s commercial license.
These factors make “price per video” an incomplete metric. A short draft in one model and a longer high-resolution clip with audio in another are different products even if each is described as one generation.
How do credits translate into a video’s cost?
For a model billed per second, multiply its credit rate by the clip’s duration. Then, if the provider publishes a cash value for each credit, multiply the credit total by that value. This gives a useful estimate, but it does not automatically include subscription effects, taxes, or the cost of unsuccessful attempts.

Runway Gen-4 and Gen-4 Turbo
Runway’s Gen-4 specification lists 12 credits per second, while Gen-4 Turbo lists 5 credits per second. The listed durations are 5 or 10 seconds. Using those rates, the credit totals are:
| Model | Rate | 5-second generation | 10-second generation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Runway Gen-4 | 12 credits per second | 60 credits | 120 credits |
| Runway Gen-4 Turbo | 5 credits per second | 25 credits | 50 credits |
Those are model-generation credit totals, not a guarantee that a finished deliverable will cost only that amount. If you need multiple attempts, each attempt can affect the total spend; the cited model information does not establish a universal retry policy.
What Runway’s API credit price means
Runway Dev states that one credit equals $0.01. At that API credit rate, a 5-second Gen-4 Turbo generation (25 credits) corresponds to $0.25, and a 5-second Gen-4 generation (60 credits) corresponds to $0.60, before taxes or subscription effects. Treat those figures as API-context examples: Runway’s creator product and its developer API are different billing contexts, so API arithmetic should not be presented as the effective price of a creator subscription.
Does resolution or audio change the price?
It can. Provider pricing tables show that output settings do not have a universal surcharge: some list a different rate by resolution, while others distinguish rates by resolution and audio together. Check the rate for the precise model and output combination rather than assuming that a credit total from a lower-resolution or silent generation carries over.
Examples from Adobe Firefly’s partner-model table
Adobe’s 2026-access-year table lists the following partner-model rates. Runway Gen-4 is charged per generation in the listed 720p and 1080p options; the listed Kling 4.0 and Google Veo 3.1 rates are per second and specify audio.
| Model and output | Listed rate | Billing unit |
|---|---|---|
| Runway Gen-4, 720p | 20 credits | Per generation |
| Runway Gen-4, 1080p | 40 credits | Per generation |
| Kling 4.0, 720p with audio | 35 credits | Per second |
| Kling 4.0, 1080p with audio | 50 credits | Per second |
| Google Veo 3.1, 720p | 50 credits | Per second |
| Google Veo 3.1, 1080p | 50 credits | Per second |
The same table says Fast and Lite variants have lower rates, but does not provide their values here. Do not infer a particular discount or treat the listed rates as cash prices: no dollar value for Adobe credits is established by these figures. Also note that the Veo 3.1 rates shown are equal at 720p and 1080p; it would be inaccurate to assume every provider charges more for 1080p.
Resolution and aspect ratio are separate questions
Runway’s Gen-4 specification lists output dimensions at 24 frames per second: 1280×720 (16:9), 720×1280 (9:16), 960×960 (1:1), 1104×832 (4:3), 832×1104 (3:4), and 1584×672 (21:9). These dimensions describe available formats; they do not establish a separate credit rate for each listed aspect ratio. Verify the current model options before building a workflow around a particular frame shape.
For a cost estimate, record both the aspect ratio and resolution you need. A vertical 9:16 export and a landscape 16:9 export may both be supported, but availability alone does not tell you whether other settings, model versions, or plan limits differ.

How can you compare plans fairly?
Use the same hypothetical deliverable for each option: the same duration, resolution, aspect ratio, audio requirement, and intended use. Then include the attempts needed to produce it. This avoids comparing a subscription’s monthly credit balance against another service’s per-second API rate as if they were the same kind of price.
- Define the output. Write down the finished duration, resolution, aspect ratio, audio requirement, and whether the work is commercial.
- Identify the billing context. Determine whether the rate applies in a creator subscription, a developer API, or a third-party product interface. Do not transfer a rate from one context to another without explicit confirmation.
- Calculate credits per attempt. For a per-second model, multiply the listed rate by duration. For a per-generation rate, use the listed generation price and check whether duration affects it elsewhere in the provider’s rules.
- Estimate the number of attempts. Use your own expected workflow, not an assumed universal retry allowance. A generation that needs several revisions can consume several times the credits of a single attempt.
- Check the available allowance and restrictions. Confirm the plan’s monthly credits, model access, watermark rules, queue priority, and parallel-generation limits in the provider’s current plan table.
- Confirm rights before publishing. Read the terms for the plan and content type, especially for paid advertising, client deliverables, or content you plan to resell.
A useful internal estimate is: credits per attempt × expected attempts. If the provider publishes a cash price per credit in the same billing context, convert that credit total to money afterward. This is a planning formula, not a prediction of output quality or a promise that every attempt will be billed identically.
Which plan includes commercial-use rights?
Commercial use is a plan-level license question, not a general property of AI-generated video. Pika’s pricing table, as accessed in 2026, marks commercial licensing “No” for Free and Starter, and “Yes” for Creator and Fancy. Those labels describe Pika’s listed plans; they do not establish that every generated element, input, likeness, or soundtrack is cleared for every commercial purpose.
Pika plan figures listed in 2026
| Plan | Listed monthly price | Monthly credits listed | Commercial license listed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Not stated in the cited plan information | No |
| Starter | $10 per month | 900 | No |
| Creator | $35 per month | 3,150 | Yes |
| Fancy | $95–$880 per month | 8,550-plus | Yes |
The listed price and credit allowance can help narrow a plan, but the wide Fancy price range means that figure should not be treated as one fixed subscription price. The plan table’s commercial-license label is also not a substitute for reading the applicable terms: permission from a generator does not by itself resolve rights in material you upload or in all elements produced by a model.

Before using a generation in a paid campaign, client work, or a resale product, verify the current license language for the exact plan and use case. Check whether the terms address commercial use, attribution, output ownership or permitted use, and any restrictions that apply to your inputs or the people and material depicted.
What plan details can change the value beyond credits?
Credit totals are only one part of a production workflow. A plan can look generous on paper but still be unsuitable if it blocks the model you need, adds a watermark, or makes iteration slow.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Watermark: Confirm whether generated exports include one and whether removal is available on the plan you are considering.
- Queue priority: If you work to a deadline, check whether the plan changes generation priority. A lower price may involve waiting longer.
- Parallel generations: Find out whether the plan limits how many jobs can run at once; this affects throughput, not just cost.
- Model access: Confirm which model versions and variants are included. A plan’s credit allowance does not guarantee access to every model.
- Resolution and audio: Inspect the rate and eligibility for the specific combination you need, including whether the listed price is per second or per generation.
These details should be verified in the provider’s current plan table because allowances, model menus, and feature restrictions can change. The figures above are provider-listed values associated with 2026 access, not a promise that prices or plan features remain unchanged.

- Choose one representative output, such as a 5-second clip, and specify its resolution, aspect ratio, audio, and intended use.
- Look up the exact model rate and billing unit for that output. Record whether the number is credits per second or credits per generation.
- Calculate the credits for one attempt. For Runway Gen-4 and Gen-4 Turbo, use the model-specific per-second rates and the listed 5- or 10-second durations; do not substitute rates from another interface.
- Allow for revisions based on your own expected process. The provider figures cited here do not establish a universal number of free or billable retries.
- Compare the total with the plan’s listed credit allowance, then check model access, output limits, and workflow features.
- For commercial work, check the specific plan’s license before treating the plan as usable for publication.
This approach will not guarantee a particular number of usable clips: the sources do not establish a common quality threshold, failure-refund policy, or retry rule across services. It does make the assumptions visible, so an unexpectedly expensive workflow can be traced to duration, settings, repeated attempts, or plan restrictions instead of hidden behind a monthly price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do unused AI video credits roll over to the next month?
Rollover rules are not established by the plan figures described here, so do not assume unused credits carry forward. Check the current provider terms for expiration, reset dates, and any differences between subscription credits and separately purchased API credits.
Recommended Free Tools
Are failed or canceled generations refunded?
A universal refund or credit-restoration rule is not established for these providers. Before relying on a tight credit budget, check the service’s current billing or support terms for failed jobs, cancellations, and interrupted generations.
Can I use generated video in a client project if my plan says commercial use is allowed?
A plan-level commercial license does not automatically clear every input or generated element for every client use. Confirm the provider’s terms and separately verify that the client has rights to any uploaded material, likenesses, music, or other assets involved.
Does paying for 1080p guarantee that the video will look better?
The pricing tables establish credit rates and output resolutions, not comparative visual quality. Resolution is a pixel-size specification; it does not by itself establish detail, motion consistency, or whether the result will meet a particular production standard.
