The Ai+ Nova 2 5G is worth considering if your priorities are 5G, long battery life and relatively clean software at an entry-level price. Its compromises are equally clear: a 720p LCD instead of a sharper panel, slow 18W charging (with a 10W adapter in the box), average low-light photography, weaker speakers and a rear panel that can show smudges and fine scratches. Whether it beats a Redmi, Realme or OPPO alternative depends less on the logo than on the exact RAM/storage tier, delivered price, display, charging speed, update promise and local 5G support.
This guide uses the Nova 2’s verified specifications and published reviews to give you a repeatable way to compare it with other budget Android phones in India. Prices and availability can change, so treat every marketplace figure as a dated listing and verify the seller, warranty and configuration at checkout.

Price: compare the same configuration, not just the headline number
Ai+ announced launch prices of ₹8,999 for 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and ₹10,999 for 6GB with 128GB storage. The sale was scheduled to begin on April 14, 2026 through Flipkart and selected retailers. Those are launch prices from the company release, not a guarantee of the current selling price.

When comparing a Nova 2 with a Redmi, Realme or OPPO phone, put the final cart totals side by side. Include delivery, bank-card conditions, exchange requirements, warranty region and the cost of a microSD card. A phone that appears ₹1,000 cheaper can lose that advantage if it has half the storage, no charger or a shorter warranty.

Display: smooth 120Hz versus sharper alternatives
What the Nova 2’s panel does well
The 6.74-inch LCD runs at 120Hz, so menus, compatible games and scrolling can look fluid. The large surface is comfortable for video, reading and navigation. A 120Hz setting can also make an inexpensive phone feel more responsive than a 60Hz model, provided the software and processor maintain consistent frame delivery.
Where the compromise appears
Resolution is 720 × 1600, commonly described as HD+. On a screen this size, text, fine interface details and high-resolution photos will not look as crisp as they do on an FHD+ panel. LCD technology also generally lacks the deep blacks and contrast of AMOLED. Neither difference makes the Nova 2 unusable, but they matter if you read small text, watch a lot of high-resolution video or use the phone outdoors at high brightness.
How to compare a competing phone
- Check the panel resolution and size together; FHD+ on a smaller display can look noticeably sharper.
- Confirm whether the quoted refresh rate is fixed, adaptive or limited to selected apps.
- Look for an AMOLED panel only if contrast, black levels and viewing experience justify the price premium.
- Ask whether the rival includes a screen protector and whether replacement protectors are readily available.
Do not choose on refresh rate alone. For many buyers, a sharper 90Hz or 120Hz display is preferable to a 120Hz HD+ screen, while others will value the Nova 2’s battery capacity more.
Performance and 5G: verify the network details in your location
The Nova 2 uses the Unisoc T8200. Published reviews describe dependable everyday performance and rate the phone as a well-rounded entry-level 5G model. That makes it suitable for messaging, social apps, streaming, navigation and ordinary multitasking. It is not evidence that every demanding game will run at high settings or that performance will remain identical after extended heat.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
What to check before ordering
- Write down the exact RAM/storage configuration. The 4GB model has less headroom for keeping many apps open than the 6GB model.
- Check the phone’s supported 5G bands against your operator’s bands in the city or country where you will use it. A 5G label by itself does not prove compatibility with every network.
- Compare sustained performance reviews, thermal behavior and storage speed where those measurements are published. Peak chipset specifications are not a substitute for long-session behavior.
- Confirm dual-SIM behavior if you need two numbers and 5G simultaneously; implementations can vary by device and carrier.
Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 cover common home networking, earbuds and accessories. The 3.5mm headphone jack is a practical advantage if you use wired headphones or a car stereo that lacks Bluetooth.
Battery and charging: endurance is the Nova 2’s clearest strength
A 6,000mAh battery is unusually generous at this price and is one reason reviewers highlighted battery endurance. It gives the Nova 2 a strong starting position for commuters, travelers, delivery workers and anyone who cannot charge during the day. Actual runtime still depends on brightness, 5G reception, gaming, camera use and background synchronization.
The trade-off is charging. The phone supports 18W, and Gadgetbridge listed a 10W adapter in the box. A large battery filled at 10W or 18W takes substantially longer than a smaller battery paired with a 33W, 45W or faster system. If you regularly charge during short breaks, a rival with faster charging may be more convenient even if its battery is smaller.
Battery comparison checklist
- Compare battery capacity and the charger actually included, not only the maximum supported wattage.
- Check whether the competing phone’s fast charger is bundled or sold separately.
- Look for independent endurance figures under comparable settings; do not assume two phones with the same capacity last equally long.
- Consider replacement-charger cost and whether the phone uses a common USB-C standard.
Cameras and audio: adequate in daylight, less convincing after dark
The rear camera is rated at 50MP and the front camera at 8MP. In good light, the main camera should cover ordinary family photos, documents and social posts. A megapixel count does not establish dynamic range, autofocus speed, stabilization or video quality, so compare sample images and video specifications when those are important to you.

Both Beebom and 91mobiles identified low-light photography as a weakness. Expect more noise, softer detail and less reliable exposure at night or indoors than from better-equipped phones. If you photograph children, pets or moving subjects in dim rooms, camera processing and shutter behavior may matter more than the 50MP label.
Reviewers also criticized the speakers as sub-standard. That makes headphones or an external speaker useful for films, navigation prompts and calls on speakerphone. A competing handset with stereo speakers can be the better multimedia choice even if its camera resolution looks similar on paper.
Software and updates: clean Android, but verify the promise in writing
The Nova 2 runs Android 16-based NxtQuantum, also referred to as nxtQ. Reviews list relatively clean software and privacy controls among its positives. A less cluttered interface can mean fewer duplicate apps and simpler navigation, although the exact pre-installed package can vary by region or seller firmware.
Gadgetbridge reported that Ai+ promised one major operating-system upgrade and three years of security patches. Treat that as the manufacturer’s stated policy and confirm that the promise applies to the exact model and region you are buying. The starting date, patch frequency and delivery timing are separate questions; a three-year window is not the same as monthly patches throughout that period.
Questions to ask about a rival phone
- How many Android version upgrades are promised, and from which Android version does the count begin?
- How long will security patches continue, and how often are they expected?
- Are bootloader, privacy and permission controls accessible without third-party software?
- Does the manufacturer publish a support page for the Indian model, rather than a different regional variant?
If long-term support is your top priority, choose the phone with the clearest written commitment, not the one with the most attractive launch slogan.

Build, protection and everyday handling
FoneArena lists dimensions of 168.04 × 77.7 × 8.7mm and a weight of 205g. The large display and 6,000mAh cell contribute to a substantial footprint. One-handed use may be tiring, especially with a case, but the size suits people who prefer a large keyboard and video area.
IP64 resistance indicates protection against dust and water splashes; it is not a license to submerge the phone or expose it to high-pressure water. The glossy rear panel was described as prone to fingerprints, minor scratches and a somewhat flimsy feel in a 91mobiles review. A case is sensible, particularly if you choose the 4GB/64GB model and plan to keep it for several years.
The reported retail package includes a 10W adapter, USB cable, clear case and screen protection. Confirm the box contents for your seller because bundles can change. If a competing model omits a case, protector or charger, add those costs to the comparison.
How to compare the Nova 2 with a budget Redmi, Realme or OPPO phone
Brand reputation is less useful than a like-for-like worksheet. Use the same RAM and storage tier, then score the features that affect your usage.
| Comparison area | Nova 2 reference | What to demand from an alternative |
|---|---|---|
| Delivered price | Launch figures ranged from ₹8,999 to ₹10,999; later listings were higher | Use the current cart total for the same memory, warranty and seller conditions |
| Network | 5G, dual SIM; bands not specified in the available product facts | Verify the exact bands for your carrier and region |
| Display | 6.74-inch HD+ LCD, 120Hz | Decide whether you prefer sharper FHD+/AMOLED quality or a large smooth LCD |
| Battery | 6,000mAh | Compare measured endurance, not capacity alone |
| Charging | 18W support; 10W adapter reported in the box | Check both supported wattage and included charger |
| Camera | 50MP rear, 8MP front; low-light limits reported | Look for night samples, stabilization and video details |
| Audio | Reviewers found the speakers below standard; 3.5mm jack included | Check for stereo speakers and retain the wired-headphone option if needed |
| Software support | Android 16-based nxtQ; one OS upgrade and three years of security patches reported as an Ai+ promise | Obtain the rival’s written update schedule for the Indian model |
| Durability | IP64; glossy rear can smudge and scratch | Check ingress rating, materials, case availability and repair terms |
| Storage expansion | microSD stated up to 1TB | Confirm whether the slot is dedicated or shared with the second SIM |
Choosing between the two Nova 2 versions
4GB RAM and 64GB storage
This version makes sense only when the delivered price is substantially lower and your usage is light: calls, messaging, payments, maps, music streaming and a modest photo library. Sixty-four gigabytes can fill quickly after Android updates, offline video, WhatsApp media and cached apps. Budget for a reputable microSD card, and remember that expandable storage may not speed up every app.
6GB RAM and 128GB storage
The 6GB/128GB model is the safer choice for buyers keeping a phone for several years, switching among many apps or storing photos and downloads locally. At the announced ₹2,000 launch premium, the extra capacity was easier to justify. At later marketplace prices, recalculate: a rival with a sharper display or faster charging may offer better value if the Nova 2’s price has risen.
A practical buying procedure
- Set your non-negotiables. Decide whether you need 5G, a headphone jack, microSD, a large battery, fast charging, an AMOLED display or a specific camera capability.
- Choose one memory tier. Compare 6GB/128GB phones with 6GB/128GB phones. Do not compare a discounted 4GB model with a rival’s larger configuration.
- Verify regional compatibility. Check 5G bands, dual-SIM behavior and whether the listing is for the Indian model.
- Calculate delivered cost. Add shipping, charger, case, screen protector and a memory card where necessary. Record whether a discount requires a particular payment method.
- Read the support terms. Save the stated OS-upgrade and security-patch promise, warranty duration and service-center information before ordering.
- Inspect the listing. Confirm seller identity, return window, sealed packaging, model number, storage capacity and included accessories.
- Test immediately. On arrival, check the display for dead pixels, cameras in daylight and low light, speaker output, charging behavior, SIM detection, 5G registration and microSD recognition while the return period is open.
Who should buy the Ai+ Nova 2 5G?
- Buy it when: you want affordable 5G, prioritize a 6,000mAh battery, prefer a relatively clean Android interface, need a 3.5mm jack or value microSD expansion.
- Choose an alternative when: you read lots of small text, demand AMOLED or FHD+ sharpness, need rapid top-ups, take frequent night photos, rely on loud stereo speakers or require a longer and more explicit update policy.
- Wait or renegotiate when: the current listing is close to or above ₹15,000 and a competing phone offers materially better display, charging or camera hardware for the same memory tier.
Beebom rated the Nova 2 at 8.5/10 and called it a well-rounded entry-level 5G smartphone, citing battery life, dependable performance and clean software as strengths. 91mobiles gave it an 8.0/10 expert rating and similarly praised performance, software, 5G and endurance while criticizing the rear panel and charging. Those scores support its value proposition, but they do not remove the display, camera, audio and update-policy trade-offs.
