Short answer: The AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G is potentially attractive when its verified street price is close to the April 2026 launch price, because it combines a 1.5K AMOLED screen, a Dimensity 7400 chip, a 6,000mAh battery and an ultrawide camera. It is a less convincing purchase at the later listed starting price of ₹20,999 unless the seller confirms the exact hardware, charger, network bands and warranty. The biggest risks are its short promised software-support period, conflicting specifications across listings and a smaller service footprint than established competitors.
This guide separates confirmed launch information from specifications that still need SKU-level verification, then gives you a practical framework for comparing the Ultra with any other budget 5G phone.

AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G: the specification baseline
The phone launched in India on April 9, 2026. Gadgets 360 reported launch prices of ₹16,999 for the 6GB RAM/128GB model and ₹18,999 for the 8GB RAM/128GB model. A Beebom listing dated September 10, 2026 showed a starting price of ₹20,999. Those are different reference points: the first two are launch prices, while ₹20,999 is a later listed starting price. Treat any current sale, bank discount or exchange value as a separate offer and check the seller, date and warranty before paying.
| Item | Reported specification or price | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| India launch date | April 9, 2026 | Reported by Gadgets 360 |
| 6GB/128GB launch price | ₹16,999 | Launch price reported by Gadgets 360; not necessarily the current price |
| 8GB/128GB launch price | ₹18,999 | Launch price reported by Gadgets 360; verify present inventory |
| Later listed starting price | ₹20,999 on September 10, 2026 | Beebom listing; confirm seller and offer terms |
| Display | 6.78-inch, 1.5K AMOLED | Core baseline reported by Gadgets 360 and product listings |
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 7400 | Reported baseline; sustained performance still needs practical testing |
| Memory and storage | 6GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB storage | Check whether RAM expansion is software-based and whether the exact model has a card slot |
| Battery and charging | 6,000mAh; 33W wired charging support is widely reported | Adapter output is inconsistent between listings and reviews |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main plus 8MP ultrawide | Reported baseline; no independent standardized camera score was found |
| Front camera | 13MP | Reported baseline |
| Wireless and software | Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, Android 16-based software | Software branding appears as NxtQ OS or NxtQuantum OS in different reports |
The baseline makes the Ultra look more ambitious than a typical entry-level 5G handset, especially its high-resolution AMOLED panel and large battery. Specifications alone do not establish display calibration, camera processing, gaming thermals or battery endurance, so compare those areas rather than assuming that a larger number guarantees a better experience.

Which specifications are still unsettled?
Several published pages disagree. That does not automatically mean one listing is fraudulent, but it does mean you should not buy on an unverified headline specification. Save a screenshot of the product page, ask the seller for the model number and inspect the box label when the phone arrives.
| Specification | Reports | Buying implication |
|---|---|---|
| Refresh rate | 144Hz in Gadgets 360 and FoneArena; 120Hz in Beebom’s review | Ask for the exact panel specification and check the display settings after setup. A 144Hz claim may apply to one variant or listing. |
| Water and dust resistance | IP64 in the launch report and Flipkart data; IP68 in TechObserver | Assume only the rating printed for your exact SKU and warranty documentation. Do not treat an IP68 web listing as proof of submersion protection. |
| Charger | 33W charging support is reported, while reviews mention an 18W adapter or other values | Confirm the in-box charger’s wattage, USB-C cable and regional bundle. The phone may support more power than the included adapter supplies. |
| Expandable storage | Up to 1TB is listed on Flipkart and in related FoneArena specifications; some comparison tables omit a card slot | Open the SIM tray diagram or obtain written confirmation before relying on microSD storage. |
| Software name | Android 16/NxtQ OS in one baseline; Android 16-based NxtQuantum OS in Beebom’s review | Check the About phone screen and update policy on the actual unit. |
These conflicts are especially important when comparing the Ultra with a phone whose specifications are consistently documented. A lower-priced rival with a confirmed 120Hz panel, supplied 33W charger and documented IP rating can be a safer purchase than a nominally better model whose listing changes from site to site.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsPerformance: what the Dimensity 7400 tells you—and what it does not
The MediaTek Dimensity 7400 is the reported processor in the Ultra. It places the phone above models using very basic 5G chipsets on paper, but a chipset name is not a complete performance result. Sustained gaming speed depends on thermal design, software tuning, memory management and the temperature of the surrounding environment.
For everyday use
For messaging, web browsing, video streaming, navigation and normal multitasking, the chip should provide a reasonable performance foundation. The 8GB version gives the operating system more physical memory for keeping several apps open. The 6GB version can still handle ordinary use, but aggressive background app management or frequent reloads may become more noticeable over time.
For gaming and heavy workloads
Compare phones using sustained performance rather than a single benchmark score. Ask whether a review tested a 20- to 30-minute game session, recorded frame-rate stability and measured surface temperature. No independent laboratory benchmark figure for the Ultra is established here, so do not treat any unverified score as a purchasing fact. Also check whether the game supports the panel’s highest refresh mode; a 144Hz display does not make every game render at 144 frames per second.
- Look for evidence of throttling after the phone heats up, not just the first five minutes of play.
- Check whether the phone allows charging while gaming without excessive heat.
- Confirm that the storage is fast enough for large game installs and updates.
- Compare the warranty process if gaming is a primary use case.
Display: 1.5K AMOLED is a meaningful advantage, with one caveat
A 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED panel should deliver sharper text and finer detail than an HD+ LCD panel of similar size. AMOLED also generally enables deeper blacks and can support an always-on display, although the exact software features and calibration vary by device.
The unresolved refresh-rate figure matters less than brightness, touch response and actual mode behavior. A phone locked to 120Hz in normal use may feel just as smooth as one advertised at 144Hz, while a dim panel can be difficult to read outdoors regardless of its refresh number. In a store or during the return window, test:

Battery and charging: large capacity, unclear bundle
The reported 6,000mAh battery is one of the Ultra’s strongest specifications. Capacity can support long daily use, but actual endurance depends on 5G signal strength, display brightness, gaming, camera use and background applications. A weak indoor 5G signal can consume more power than a stable Wi-Fi connection.
The phone is commonly described as supporting 33W wired charging. However, reviews mention an 18W adapter or other charger values. Distinguish three things when comparing:
- Phone support: the maximum input the handset accepts under the manufacturer’s conditions.
- Included adapter: the charger in your retail box, which may be slower.
- Real charging behavior: the time from a stated starting percentage to a stated ending percentage, with the screen off and the supplied charger.
If the box contains an 18W adapter, reaching the advertised 33W rate may require buying a compatible USB-C charger separately. Verify charging protocols before purchasing an accessory; a higher wattage printed on a charger does not guarantee that the phone will use it.

Cameras: useful hardware, but do not buy on megapixels alone
The rear system is reported as a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide, with a 13MP selfie camera. The ultrawide adds a perspective that a single-camera phone cannot provide, making the Ultra more versatile for architecture, groups and travel scenes.
What to test in a comparison
- Fine detail and skin tones in daylight, including faces near the edge of the frame.
- Night scenes with bright signs and dark areas in the same image.
- Ultrawide edge distortion and exposure matching between the two rear cameras.
- Autofocus speed for moving subjects.
- Video stabilization while walking.
- Selfie exposure against a bright window and in indoor lighting.
No independent standardized camera score or laboratory result is established for this model. A phone with fewer megapixels can still produce better photographs if its sensor, lens, image signal processor and software are better tuned. Compare full-resolution samples from the same scene rather than compressed social-media images.
5G, SIMs and carrier compatibility in India
The launch report confirms 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6 and dual-SIM support. FoneArena lists the related Nova 2 specifications with 5G standalone and non-standalone bands n1, n3, n5, n8, n28, n40, n77 and n78. That list is useful as a starting point, not proof that every Nova 2 Ultra SKU has the same modem configuration.
Before buying, obtain the exact Ultra model number and compare its printed band list with your operator’s requirements. This is particularly important if you use Jio or Airtel 5G, travel between circles or expect coverage on a less common band.

- Fluid 120Hz Display: Features a large 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for smooth scrolling and added durability.
- Find the model number on the retailer page, box or About phone screen.
- Request the complete 5G SA/NSA and 4G LTE band list in writing.
- Compare it with the bands used in your home, workplace and regular travel areas.
- Ask whether both SIM slots retain 5G standby or whether one slot drops to 4G when the other uses 5G.
- After activation, test calls, mobile data, VoLTE, hotspot operation and 5G handover in both SIM positions.
Carrier compatibility is not the same as a carrier’s marketing claim that a device is “5G-ready.” The modem, regional firmware and operator certification all affect the result.
Software support may be the Ultra’s biggest weakness
Beebom reports Android 16-based NxtQuantum OS, one major operating-system update and two years of security patches. Other product material uses the NxtQ OS name. Confirm the exact branding and policy on the unit you purchase, but the reported support window is short compared with phones that promise several years of updates.
Two years of security patches means the phone may stop receiving security fixes while its hardware is still usable. One major OS update also limits how long you can expect new Android features and app compatibility to improve. This should weigh heavily if you keep phones for three years or more, use mobile banking or manage work data.
Beebom also describes launcher stutter and a need for optimization. During your return period, check app opening, the notification shade, the camera launch, scrolling in a long web page and switching between at least six recent apps. A brief pause during setup can be normal while updates and indexing run; recurring stutter after updates is a more meaningful warning.

6GB or 8GB: which version should you buy?
| Version | Reported launch price | Best fit | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6GB RAM/128GB | ₹16,999 at April 9, 2026 launch | Basic communication, streaming, web use and a shorter ownership period | Less headroom for multitasking; the price gap may be small in later offers |
| 8GB RAM/128GB | ₹18,999 at April 9, 2026 launch | More frequent multitasking, gaming and keeping the phone for several years | Still only 128GB internal storage; confirm whether microSD expansion exists |
The 8GB model is the more sensible choice when the difference is close to the reported ₹2,000 launch gap, provided the seller offers the same warranty and charger. Choose 6GB when it is substantially cheaper and your use is light, or when you replace phones frequently. Do not confuse virtual RAM borrowed from storage with additional physical RAM.
How the Ultra differs from the standard Nova 2 5G
The same-brand comparison is unusually clear in broad terms. Gadgets 360 reports that the Ultra uses a Dimensity 7400 instead of the standard model’s Unisoc T8200, a 1.5K display instead of HD+, 6GB/8GB RAM instead of 4GB/6GB, a 50MP-plus-8MP rear camera system instead of a single 50MP camera, and a 13MP selfie camera instead of 8MP. Both are listed with 6,000mAh batteries, while the Ultra is reported to charge faster.
| Area | Nova 2 Ultra 5G | Standard Nova 2 5G |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | MediaTek Dimensity 7400 | Unisoc T8200 |
| Display | 1.5K | HD+ |
| RAM options | 6GB or 8GB | 4GB or 6GB |
| Rear cameras | 50MP main plus 8MP ultrawide | Single 50MP camera |
| Selfie camera | 13MP | 8MP |
| Battery | 6,000mAh | 6,000mAh |
| Charging | Reported as faster | Not stated in the cited comparison |
That makes the Ultra the logical upgrade when display sharpness, multitasking and camera flexibility matter. If the standard model is heavily discounted, compare the total price against the value of those upgrades rather than assuming that the larger model is automatically better.

A practical checklist for comparing other budget 5G phones
1. Sustained performance and thermals
Identify the chipset, then look for long-session testing. A short synthetic benchmark does not show whether the phone slows down after heat builds. Check gaming frame-rate stability, surface temperature and background-app behavior.

Compare panel type, resolution, brightness, touch response and verified refresh modes. Treat 120Hz versus 144Hz as secondary to readability and consistent adaptive behavior.
3. Battery and charger
Compare capacity, measured endurance and the adapter in the box. A phone with a slightly smaller battery but a genuinely supplied fast charger may be more convenient than one whose maximum charging rate requires a separate purchase.
4. Camera results
Check daylight, low-light, ultrawide, selfie and video samples from the same scenes. Megapixel counts do not replace sensor and software quality.
5. 5G bands and dual-SIM behavior
Match the exact regional model to your carrier. Ask how 5G works when two SIMs are installed and whether one slot loses 5G standby.

8. Storage expansion
Verify the physical tray and maximum supported card capacity. If there is no card slot, 128GB can become restrictive after photos, offline video and games accumulate.
9. Service coverage
TechObserver cautions that AI+ has a smaller service network than larger manufacturers. Locate an authorized center near you before ordering and ask how screen, battery and motherboard repairs are handled.
10. Total cost
Calculate the price after bank and exchange offers, then add a compatible charger, case, screen protection and possible storage card. Compare the final amount with phones that include those items and offer longer support.
Buying procedure that reduces avoidable risk
- Record the offer: save the listing price, seller name, date, model number, RAM/storage configuration and warranty statement.
- Confirm the bundle: ask for charger wattage, cable type, case, SIM tool and any regional differences.
- Verify connectivity: obtain the Ultra’s exact 5G band list and check your carrier’s SA/NSA requirements.
- Inspect delivery: photograph the sealed box, IMEI label and accessories before removing protective films.
- Run first-day checks: test both SIMs, Wi-Fi 6 connection, Bluetooth, cameras, charging, speakers, fingerprint sensor, display uniformity and storage.
- Install updates: apply available system and security updates, then retest scrolling, camera launch and battery drain.
- Keep documentation: retain the invoice and serial-number photographs for warranty claims.
Who should buy the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G?
It is a reasonable shortlist candidate for a buyer who values a sharp large AMOLED display, a 6,000mAh battery, an ultrawide camera and the Dimensity 7400, and who can buy the 8GB version near its ₹18,999 launch price. It is also more compelling than the standard Nova 2 when the display, memory and camera upgrades are worth the premium.
Be more cautious if you need guaranteed long-term updates, a widely available service network, a confirmed in-box fast charger, an unambiguous water-resistance rating or a specific set of Jio or Airtel 5G bands. In those cases, a phone with fewer headline features but clearer documentation can be the better ownership decision.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Buy the AI+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G only after verifying the exact SKU, charger, IP rating, storage expansion, carrier bands and warranty. Near its April 2026 launch prices, the 8GB model offers the strongest value on paper; at ₹20,999 or more, its short update commitment and specification conflicts deserve a meaningful discount or a better-documented alternative.
