Zeno is stronger overall, while the Grand Priest is the superior conventional fighter. Dragon Ball Super places Zeno above every deity in the 12-universe hierarchy and gives him instantaneous erasure over anything from a single being to an entire universe. Whis’s statements also describe Zeno as the mightiest despite not being a fighter. The Grand Priest has the better case for martial skill: Whis ranks him among the five most powerful beings in the multiverse and says Whis himself pales beside him. Because no cited canon material shows a direct Zeno–Grand Priest duel, the safest conclusion is Zeno wins on authority and overall matchup outcome; the Grand Priest wins the hand-to-hand comparison.
Quick verdict: Zeno has the decisive win condition
The answer depends on what “stronger” means. If it means technical fighting ability, speed, technique or a conventional exchange of blows, the Grand Priest is the stronger candidate. If it means who stands higher, can impose a result instantly and is described as the mightiest entity in Dragon Ball Super’s hierarchy, Zeno is clearly ahead.

| Comparison point | Advantage | Why | What remains unshown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Position in the divine order | Zeno | The official Dragon Ball site says he stands at the top of all 12 universes. Whis says no deity ranks above him. | No scene depicts the two disputing that hierarchy. |
| Erasure and destructive authority | Zeno | Whis says Zeno can annihilate a life-form, world, galaxy or universe “in the blink of an eye,” while the official profile says he can erase an entire universe instantly. | The cited material does not show the Grand Priest resisting or countering erasure. |
| Conventional martial combat | Grand Priest | Whis places the Grand Priest among the multiverse’s top five powers and says Whis pales in comparison to him. | That ranking is not a direct Grand Priest-versus-Zeno fight result. |
| Overall matchup | Zeno | His authority supplies an immediate win condition that does not require a prolonged fight. | There is no demonstrated duel or explicit statement that the Grand Priest would be erased before acting. |
That distinction prevents two common errors: treating Zeno as a weak child because he is not a martial artist, or treating the Grand Priest’s combat reputation as proof that he outranks the being who rules above all deities.

What the official profile establishes about Zeno
He is above the 12-universe divine hierarchy
A DRAGON BALL OFFICIAL SITE profile published June 9, 2022 describes Zeno as “a being who stands at the top of all 12 universes.” This is a status statement, not a fan ranking or a conclusion drawn from a tournament bracket. It places him at the summit of the setting’s multiversal order.

The same profile identifies Dragon Ball Super Chapter 13 as Zeno’s first appearance. That chapter reference matters because it anchors the character’s introduction in an official publication rather than in a later adaptation summary. Zeno’s position is therefore part of the series’ established cosmology from his introduction.
His erasure works on any described scale
The official profile adds that “Zeno could erase their entire universe in the blink of an eye!” Whis’s reported anime dialogue expands the scope: “Grand Zeno could annihilate anything he wishes in the blink of an eye regardless of size or complexity. Be it a single life form or a world or a galaxy or an entire universe.” Whis then says Zeno could eliminate all reality as we know it.
These lines describe an authority that is qualitatively different from punching harder or firing a larger attack. The target can be an individual or a cosmic structure, and the action is presented as immediate. Nothing in the cited material establishes a charging period, a stamina cost or a size limit that would give an opponent a normal opening.

“No one above him” is a hierarchy claim
In a January 23, 2018 report on the English-dub anime, Whis is quoted saying: “He is the most supreme of all the deities ruling over the entire multiverse. In the hierarchy of the gods, there is no one above him.” The wording directly answers the ranking question. It does not merely say Zeno is one of the strongest; it says the divine hierarchy has no superior.
That statement is important when comparing Zeno with the Grand Priest. The Grand Priest may be extraordinarily powerful without being higher in rank. Power, office and fighting skill are separate axes in Dragon Ball Super, and the quote addresses office and supremacy rather than the mechanics of a martial contest.
“Not a fighter” does not mean “not powerful”
Whis is also quoted saying: “Grand Zeno is not a fighter, Goku. But, without a doubt, he is the mightiest. You simply couldn’t fathom his power.” This explains why ordinary battle logic can mislead readers. Zeno is not presented as a trained martial artist who wins by trading techniques. His defining ability is the power to erase.

Calling Zeno “not a fighter” therefore describes his behavior and method, not a low power level. A fighter normally needs movement, timing and endurance. Zeno’s stated ability can bypass those conditions entirely if he chooses to use it.
What the available evidence establishes about the Grand Priest
Whis places him among the top five
A March 20, 2018 report quotes the hierarchy as follows: “According to Whis, Grand Priest is one of the top five most powerful beings in the multiverse.” The same report says that even Whis “pales in comparison to the power of the Grand Priest.” Since Whis is himself an angelic attendant and a vastly superior combatant to most characters, the statement gives the Grand Priest an exceptionally strong conventional-combat profile.
The wording “top five” is deliberately different from “number one.” It establishes elite status but does not identify the Grand Priest as stronger than Zeno. Read alongside Whis’s separate statement that no deity is above Zeno, it supports a division: the Grand Priest is among the most powerful beings, while Zeno remains the supreme authority.
Why the Grand Priest is the better fighter on current evidence
The Grand Priest has the attributes readers normally associate with a combat specialist: an angelic status, placement above Whis in power and an implied mastery of the techniques expected from the highest level of divine attendants. The cited statements make him the safer choice in a contest governed by movement, exchanges and technical skill.
That is still an inference. The quoted reports do not provide a measured speed, a named technique that defeats Zeno or a scene in which the Grand Priest overpowers him. “Better fighter” means the evidence points more strongly toward his martial ability; it does not turn an implication into a witnessed result.

Authority versus combat skill: the clean way to compare them
Axis 1: cosmic authority and erasure
Zeno wins this axis decisively. The official profile places him at the top of all 12 universes, and Whis describes his authority as reaching from individual life-forms to entire universes and potentially all reality. This is not simply destructive output measured against another character’s attack. It is an administrative-looking power over existence itself.

For a versus question, that gives Zeno a decisive win condition. If the erasure can be applied before an opponent acts and no resistance is established, the fight ends without requiring Zeno to win a technical exchange.
Axis 2: conventional combat and technique
The Grand Priest wins this axis by implication. Whis’s top-five statement and the claim that Whis pales beside him place the Grand Priest above the combat standard represented by Whis. Zeno, by contrast, is expressly described as not being a fighter.
“By implication” is the key qualification. A ranking of power among multiversal beings is not the same as a choreographed duel, and the cited material gives no direct Grand Priest-versus-Zeno feat. The Grand Priest’s edge is therefore the strongest reasoned interpretation, not an explicit canon verdict.
Axis 3: rank and command
Zeno also wins the hierarchy axis. Whis says there is no deity above him. The Grand Priest’s status as one of the multiverse’s strongest beings does not overturn that statement. A subordinate can be more skilled in a particular activity than a sovereign while still remaining below the sovereign in authority.
Could the Grand Priest beat Zeno in a fight?
There is no demonstrated direct duel in the cited material, so “the Grand Priest beats Zeno” cannot be presented as a canon fact. The answer changes depending on the rules imposed on the hypothetical.
If the fight allows each character’s established abilities
Zeno should be favored. His erasure is described as instantaneous and applicable to targets of any size or complexity. The Grand Priest has no cited defense against that effect, and no source here says he can interrupt Zeno’s command or survive it. Under those rules, the Grand Priest’s superior technique may never become relevant.

If erasure is banned and the match is a martial-arts contest
The Grand Priest becomes the logical favorite. Zeno is explicitly “not a fighter,” while the Grand Priest is described as one of the five most powerful beings and as vastly above Whis. Removing Zeno’s defining ability changes the question from “who can impose the final result?” to “who is the better combatant?” On that narrower question, the Grand Priest has the stronger case.
If the question is who would win before either can act
The evidence is insufficient. The reports do not give comparative reaction times, opening moves or a rule for how quickly Zeno decides to erase. It is reasonable to say Zeno’s ability creates the most decisive possible outcome, but it is not reasonable to claim a documented speed-blitz result for either character.
Why “top five” does not automatically put Grand Priest above Zeno
Readers sometimes treat every power ranking as a single ladder. The available statements do not work that way. Zeno is called the most supreme deity and the mightiest, while the Grand Priest is called one of the top five most powerful beings. Those descriptions can coexist if “mightiest” refers to total authority and “top five” describes the strongest beings in conventional power or combat.
The language also leaves room for categories. Zeno’s erasure can ignore durability, scale and complexity, whereas the Grand Priest’s reputation is framed as comparative power. A character may be stronger in a physical contest yet unable to challenge the official authority of the multiverse’s ruler. Treating the statements as contradictory creates a problem the text does not require.

Using the cited statements, Zeno is the strongest overall character in the sense most readers mean: no deity ranks above him, he stands at the top of all 12 universes and Whis calls him the mightiest. His ability to erase anything from a single life-form to an entire universe gives him the most absolute shown win condition in this comparison.

Zeno’s first appearance and why Chapter 13 matters
The DRAGON BALL OFFICIAL SITE identifies Dragon Ball Super Chapter 13 as Zeno’s first appearance. For readers checking the source material, this is the clearest starting point for the character’s introduction. It also helps separate Zeno’s canonical role from later fan debates about scaling.
The chapter reference does not by itself prove every later interpretation of Zeno’s abilities. What it does establish is where the official profile places his debut. The broader conclusions in this article come from the profile’s explicit description of his position and erasure power, together with Whis’s quoted explanations.
Common mistakes in the matchup
Mistake: judging Zeno by martial-artist standards
Zeno’s lack of fighting behavior is not evidence that he is weak. Whis explicitly pairs “not a fighter” with “without a doubt, he is the mightiest.” The character’s threat is the ability to erase, not a catalog of punches or named forms.
Mistake: treating the Grand Priest’s top-five status as a number-one ranking
“One of the top five” identifies a group, not a first-place finish. The statement supports the Grand Priest’s elite status and superiority to Whis, but it does not displace Whis’s separate claim that no deity is above Zeno.
Mistake: claiming a canon duel that has not been shown
No direct Zeno-versus-Grand-Priest fight appears in the cited material. Any prediction about how an exchange would unfold should be labeled as a hypothetical. The firm conclusions are about hierarchy, erasure authority and the relative evidence for conventional combat skill.
Mistake: assuming authority and power must be identical
Dragon Ball Super can assign supreme authority to one character and superior technical ability to another. The comparison becomes clearer when those categories are kept separate instead of forced into one statistic.
How to answer the question in one sentence
If someone asks, “Who is stronger, Zeno or the Grand Priest?” the most accurate answer is: Zeno is stronger overall because he is the supreme being with instantaneous erasure authority, while the Grand Priest is probably the better conventional fighter based on Whis’s top-five statement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsIf the follow-up is, “Can the Grand Priest beat Zeno?” answer: Only as a speculative martial-combat scenario; no cited canon source shows him defeating Zeno, and Zeno’s established erasure gives Zeno the safer overall victory condition.
Final assessment
Zeno wins the overall comparison. The official profile places him above all 12 universes, and Whis says no deity ranks above him, calls him the mightiest and describes erasure that can remove anything from a life-form to an entire universe. The Grand Priest remains the superior conventional combat prospect because Whis ranks him among the multiverse’s top five and says Whis pales beside him. Until Dragon Ball Super depicts or explicitly describes a direct contest between them, that two-axis verdict is more precise than declaring the Grand Priest definitively stronger or pretending Zeno has demonstrated martial technique he is never said to possess.
