If YouTube’s verification SMS has not arrived, wait a few minutes and request a voice call instead. If neither option works, try a number from another operator; YouTube says some operators do not support Google’s messages. First check that phone verification is the step blocking your channel’s live-streaming access.
First check whether phone verification is the issue
YouTube includes live streaming among the features unlocked through phone verification. In YouTube Studio, check your channel’s feature eligibility to confirm whether verification is still pending. Channel restrictions can also affect access, so completing phone verification does not guarantee that every restriction is cleared.

For an India-based channel, open YouTube Studio and go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features → Verify phone number. You can also use youtube.com/verify. Sign in to the correct Google account and channel, choose how to receive the code, then enter the six-digit code.
What to try when the code does not arrive
1. Wait briefly, then request a voice call
YouTube notes that SMS delivery may be delayed, including in densely populated areas or where operator infrastructure is weak. After waiting a few minutes, select the voice-call option and listen for the verification code. YouTube’s guidance is: “If you’ve waited more than a few minutes and still haven’t received our text message, try the voice call option.”

2. Try a number on another operator
Some operators do not support text messages or voice calls from Google. If neither delivery method works, YouTube recommends trying a number from another operator. Its help pages do not identify which Indian operators are supported, and they do not provide carrier-specific delivery rates; contact your operator if you need to check whether Google’s verification messages or calls are blocked.
3. Check whether the number has reached YouTube’s limit
YouTube says a phone number can be associated with no more than two channels per year. If the verification flow says the maximum has been reached, use a different eligible number rather than continuing with that one.

4. Make sure you are verifying the intended channel
If you manage more than one channel, confirm that Studio is open to the channel whose live-streaming access you want to enable. Then return to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features and check the status shown there.
What changes after verification in India?
Once an India-based channel is phone verified, YouTube displays a “phone verified” label on its About page. YouTube says the label is visible to users in India on a computer, mobile device, or the YouTube app. The company says it introduced this label to comply with the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

If SMS and the call option both fail
- Try the other supported delivery method if you have only tried one.
- Check whether the number has already been used to verify two channels in the year.
- Try an eligible number from another operator.
- If another operator’s number and both delivery methods still do not work, contact your operator or YouTube support. YouTube’s published guidance does not provide an India-specific list of supported carriers or a guaranteed delivery time.
Or let it run in the cloud
Phone verification unlocks access; it does not keep a stream running for you. If your goal is to keep uploaded videos looping as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your computer does not have to stay on at home; it supports any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
