Check the status for the specific channel in YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. YouTube’s access rules and the steps below reflect its guidance accessed October 3, 2026.

What YouTube requires for live streaming
YouTube’s general prerequisites are channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions during the previous 90 days. YouTube also says a person must be at least 16 years old to live stream. These requirements apply in addition to the feature-tier distinction between computer and mobile streaming. See YouTube’s live-streaming prerequisites.
Computer and mobile streaming have different eligibility rules
Streaming from a computer
YouTube classifies computer live streaming as an intermediate feature. Phone verification grants intermediate access; advanced access is not the initial gate for this feature. Advanced access is associated with a higher daily limit for live streaming and other separately classified advanced features. The feature-access chart does not specify the numerical daily limits, so check the limit displayed for your channel in YouTube Studio. YouTube’s feature-access chart explains the tiers.

Streaming from a phone
Mobile streaming has additional conditions: at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days, and live streaming turned on. When a channel enables mobile live streaming for the first time, it can take up to 24 hours before streaming is available. The 50-subscriber minimum is specific to mobile streaming; do not apply it as a general requirement for computer live streams. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.
How to check your channel’s eligibility
- Open YouTube Studio for the channel you intend to use.
- Go to Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility.
- Check which access tier is enabled and whether live streaming is available. If you plan to stream from a computer, look for intermediate access and any displayed daily limit.
- If you plan to stream from a phone, confirm that the channel meets the mobile requirements and that live streaming has been enabled. Allow up to 24 hours for the first mobile stream to become available.
- Check whether the channel has had a live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. Verification or feature access does not override this separate prerequisite.
Eligibility is channel-specific and can change. A status shown for another channel—or an old status for yours—is not a reliable substitute for the current Feature eligibility screen.

How to get advanced feature access
To qualify for advanced features, first complete phone verification. YouTube then requires either sufficient channel history or identity verification using an ID or video, if one of those options is offered to you. ID and video verification are not available to every creator, and only the primary channel owner can verify identity for additional features. YouTube says ID or video reviews usually take 24 hours. YouTube says most active channels already have sufficient history. Meeting the requirements for advanced access can matter for other advanced features or higher live-streaming limits, but it does not change the fact that computer live streaming is classified as intermediate.

If YouTube says you are not eligible
- Computer stream unavailable: Confirm phone verification and intermediate access in Feature eligibility. Advanced access is not listed as the initial requirement for computer streaming.
- Mobile stream unavailable below 50 subscribers: The channel does not meet YouTube’s stated mobile minimum. That threshold does not determine computer-stream eligibility.
- Mobile stream unavailable after reaching 50 subscribers: Confirm verification, that mobile live streaming is turned on, and that the first-stream activation period has elapsed.
- Restrictions in the previous 90 days: YouTube’s general live-streaming prerequisite is not met. Feature verification does not remove this restriction.
- Advanced access unavailable: Complete phone verification, then follow the channel-history or identity-verification route YouTube offers. Not every creator receives the ID or video option.
- Access changed after a policy issue: Review the channel’s status in Studio and follow YouTube’s guidance. YouTube says Community Guidelines noncompliance can delay or remove advanced access. It also says active channels consistently following the guidelines can usually rebuild sufficient channel history within two months; this is a general expectation, not a guaranteed restoration date for an individual channel.

YouTube eligibility determines whether a channel can start streaming; it does not keep a stream running after it starts.
